One-loop Kaehler potential in 5D gauged supergravity with generic prepotential

    Get PDF
We calculate one-loop contributions to the Kaehler potential in 4D effective theory of 5D gauged supergravity (SUGRA) on S^1/Z_2 with a generic form of the prepotential and arbitrary boundary terms. Our result is applicable to a wide class of 5D SUGRA models. The derivation is systematically performed by means of an N=1 superfield formalism based on the superconformal formulation of 5D SUGRA. As an illustrative example, we provide an explicit expression of the Kaehler potential in the case of 5D flat spacetime.Comment: 52 pages, typos correcte

Radion and Higgs masses in gauge-Higgs unification

We evaluate the radion and Higgs masses in the gauge-Higgs unification models on the warped geometry, in which the modulus is stabilized by the Casimir energy. We analyze the one-loop effective potential and clarify the dependences of those masses on the Wilson line phase θH\theta_H. The radion mass varies 1-30GeV for 0.06sinθH0.30.06\leq\sin\theta_H\leq 0.3, while the Higgs mass is 150-200 GeV and depends on θH\theta_H only logarithmically. The radion couplings to the standard model particles are sensitive to the warp factor, and are too small to detect at colliders in the region where the five-dimensional description is valid.Comment: 20 pages, 3 figures; text modified, references adde

Scherk-Schwarz twist in 5D conformal SUGRA

We reinterpret the Scherk-Schwarz (SS) boundary condition for SU(2)_R in a compactified five-dimensional (5D) Poincare supergravity in terms of the twisted SU(2)_U gauge fixing in 5D conformal supergravity. In such translation, only the compensator hypermultiplet is relevant to the SS twist, and various properties of the SS mechanism can be easily understood. Especially we show the equivalence between the SS twist and boundary constant superpotentials at the full supergravity level.Comment: 4 pages, no figure, talks given at SUSY 2006 (UC Irvine) and Summer Institute 2006 (POSTECH), to appear in Proceedings of SUSY06, the 14th International Conference on Supersymmetry and the Unification of Fundamental Interactions, UC Irvine, California, 12-17 June 200

6D gauge-Higgs unification on T^2/Z_N with custodial symmetry

We investigate the gauge-Higgs unification models compactified on T^2/Z_N that have the custodial symmetry. We select possible gauge groups, orbifolds and representations of the matter fermions that are consistent with the custodial symmetry, by means of the group theoretical analysis. The best candidate we found is 6D SU(3)_C x U(4) gauge theory on T^2/Z_3 and the third generation quarks are embedded into bulk fermions that are the symmetric traceless rank-2 tensor of SO(6).Comment: 38 pages, 1 table, a reference adde
