Inflation and Gauge Mediation in Supersymmetric Gauge Theory

We propose a simple high-scale inflationary scenario based on a phenomenologically viable model with direct gauge mediation of low-scale supersymmetry breaking. Hybrid inflation is occurred in a hidden supersymmetry breaking sector. Two hierarchical mass scales to reconcile both high-scale inflation and gauge mediation are necessary for the stability of the metastable supersymmetry breaking vacuum. Our scenario is also natural in light of the Landau pole problem of direct gauge mediation.Comment: 10 pages; v2: presentation changed, qualitative results unchanged, references added; v3: minor correction, published in PT

Evolution Of Technology And Skills In Production Workplaces Utilizing Advanced TPS

    Get PDF
The Japanese industrial companies demand changes. Simultaneous achievement of consistent quality worldwide, simultaneous startup and QCD (Quality, Cost and Delivery) is necessary to achieve successful global production. The authors think that evolution of technology and skill to realize a guarantee of high quality in production workplaces of production shop is necessary for a global production strategy. Therefore, in this paper, the authors focus on “intellectual working value” and propose the basic principle of intellectual working value improvement and the “Working Value Improvement Management Model”. Furthermore the evolution of technology and skill realizing a high cycle of manufacturing technique in a Japanese offshore production factory was verified at Toyota Motor Corporation

Acute toxic tests of rainwater samples using Daphnia magna

Abstract Rainwater samples were collected at Isogo Ward of Yokohama City, Japan, from 23 June to 31 July 2003. The toxic potency of pollutants present in 13 rainwater samples was tested using Daphnia magna. Most test animals died within 48 h in five test solutions that were prepared from rainwater samples. On the other hand, when nonpolar compounds such as pesticides were removed from rainwater samples before the toxic tests, mortalities in all test solutions were less than 10%. Eight kinds of pesticides were detected in rainwater samples. The highest concentration was of dichlorvos, at 0.74 mg/L. Results indicated that insecticides in rainwater sometimes lethally affected D. magna and that toxic potency of insecticides that are present in rainwater constitutes an important problem for environmental protection.

A New Global Partnering Production Model NGP-PM Utilizing Advanced TPS

    Get PDF
In order to improve quality at leading manufacturers’ overseas production bases from the perspective of “global production,” “a New Global Partnering Production Model, NGP-PM” - the strategic development of the “Advanced TPS” model - is proposed and its effectiveness discussed. The aim is to increase global quality by generating a synergetic effect that organically connects and promotes continual evolution of the production plants in Japan and overseas, as well as greater cooperation among production operators

Fairing arc spline and designing by using cubic bézier spiral segments

    Get PDF
This paper considers how to smooth three kinds of G 1 biarc models, the C-, S-, and J-shaped transitions, by replacing their parts with spiral segments using a single cubic Bézier curve. Arc spline is smoothed to G 2continuity. Use of a single curve rather than two has the benefit because designers and implementers have fewer entities to be concerned. Arc spline is planar, tangent continuous, piecewise curves made of circular arcs and straight line segments. It is important in manufacturing industries because of its use in the cutting paths for numerically controlled cutting machinery. Main contribution of this paper is to minimize the number of curvature extrema in cubic transition curves for further use in industrial applications such as non-holonomic robot path planning, highways or railways, and spur gear tooth designing

Dynamic characteristic analysis of nonresonance-type ultrasonic actuator using electronic circuit simulator

    Get PDF
The electromechanical equivalent circuit of an ultrasonic actuator is useful for gaining intuitive understanding or for design. However, the equivalent circuit had not been simulated directly on commercial computer software such as an electronic circuit simulator (ECS), because the nonlinear elements that express friction or contact separation are rarely expressed on the equivalent circuit. In this paper, the equivalent circuit model of a nonresonance-type ultrasonic actuator, which is created on the basis of the equation of motion and can be simulated on a commercial ECS, is proposed, and some simulated results obtained using a commercial ECS are reported

Impact of neoadjuvant chemotherapy on physical fitness, physical activity, and health-related quality of life of patients with resectable esophageal cancer.

Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) followed by radical surgery is the standard treatment for patients with resectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in Japan. However, some adverse events associated with NAC may result in a decrease in physical fitness that may influence the patient's ability to tolerate surgery. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of NAC on physical fitness, physical activity, and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of patients with ESCC
