Equation of State for Neutron Stars in the Quark-Meson Coupling Model with the Cloudy Bag
Using the quark-meson coupling model with the cloudy bag, we construct the
equation of state for neutron stars with hyperons in SU(3) flavor symmetry. The
hyperfine interaction due to the gluon exchange and the pion-cloud effect
inside a baryon is taken into account in vacuum and nuclear matter. We
investigate how the quark degrees of freedom and the exchanges of gluon and
pion between two quarks affect the properties of nuclear and neutron-star
matter. It is found that the variation of baryon substructure in matter plays
an important role in supporting massive neutron stars.Comment: 4 papes, 3 figures, 2 tables, accepted to the proceedings of the 8th

Destabilizing Heegaard splittings of knot exteriors
AbstractWe give a necessary and sufficient condition for Heegaard splittings of knot exteriors to admit destabilizations. As an application, we show the following: let K1 and K2 be a pair of knots which is introduced by Morimoto as an example giving degeneration of tunnel number under connected sum. The Heegaard splitting of the exterior of K1#K2 derived from certain minimal unknotting tunnel systems of K1 and K2 is stabilized
Order-disorder oscillations in exciton-polariton superfluids
The dynamics of an exciton-polariton superfluid resonantly pumped in a
semiconductor microcavity are investigated by mean-field theory. Modulational
instability develops into crystalline order and then ordered and disordered
states alternately form. A supersolid-like state is also found, in which
superflow coexists with crystalline order at rest.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, 6 movie
