Performance evaluation of private universities based on balanced scorecard: empirical study based on Iran

    Get PDF
Private universities are new generation of universities in Iran that their existences are less than 20 years. The research in this area was never completed about evaluating of these universities all these years. The aim of this research is to make a framework for evaluating these universities with Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and MCDM methods. Three MCDM methods are applied in this research. DEMATEL is applied for research on cause and effect relations of perspectives of BSC, ANP is applied to calculate weights of indices in perspectives and finally VIKOR for ranking universities that is selected as a case study. This research totally used 38 experts in two groups for evaluating of universities. Results of this research are: (1) Internal Process is the most effective perspective of BSC. (2) Brand, Academic Excellence, Product Quality, Student Satisfaction and Budget Control are five more important indices that calculated with ANP. (3) Shomal University of Amol is the best university among five universities that were selected for this research and they have been established more than ten years

Analysis of the sharing economy effect on sustainability in the transportation sector using Fuzzy cognitive mapping

Along with the significant growth of the sharing economy in recent years, its effect on the economy, society, and the environment at the level of governments, academic communities, and researchers has been widely discussed. One of the main debates is identifying the side or negative effects of the sharing economy as well as its positive effects. Studying the cause-effect relationship of the variables affecting sustainability in the sharing economy context can provide valuable results for firms. For this purpose, fuzzy cognitive maps have been used. Based on the literature review, the sharing economy's essential variables that affect sustainability were identified, and using the Fuzzy Delphi method, these variables were localized. Snapp and Tap30 were selected as two of the largest platforms in the Iranian transportation sector. Fuzzy cognitive maps based on aggregated opinions of experts were inputted to the Mental Modeler online software to drawn the cognitive map of this research. The degree of centrality index, i.e., the summation of input and output degree, was used to identify the most relevant sustainability variables. Consequently, the incentives to make a greater use of the platform, the income of drivers, the monopoly power of platforms, the price of services, the higher service quality of platforms, the use of private vehicles by passengers, and the change of traffic in cities were identified as variables with the greatest effect on stability. Four positive loops and one negative loop were identified among these seven variables in the cause-effect analysis. In the final section, some suggestions are presented based on each loop

Evaluation and Importance-Performance Analysis of LARG Supply Chain Practices in Dairy Industries (Case Study: Kalleh Dairy Company)

Today, one of the main concerns of managers interested in novel paradigms of supply chain (SC) is identification of improvement priorities and determination of the focal points to promote the performance of SC. Studying the current performance situation of effective practices in the three tiers of Kalleh SC (first tier supplier, focal firm and first tier distributor), the present paper seeks to identify key components of LARG (Lean, Agile, Resilient and Green) SC and improve them in the company under study by developing a practical and strategic decision making model. The results indicate that the greatest gap in Pole Co. lies in just-in-time production measures and the smallest gap in the ability to reduce likely risks. In Kalleh Co., the greatest gap was found in close & long term relationship with suppliers and the least one was in the development of visibilities in SC. The greatest gap in Banchow was quick responsiveness to customers and the least one was reduction of likely risks

Integrating Fuzzy AHP and Fuzzy ARAS for evaluating financial performance

Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) is an advanced field of Operation Research; recently MCDM methods are efficient and common tools for performance evaluation in many areas such as finance and economy. The aim of this study is to show one of applications of mathematics in real word. This study with considering value based measures and accounting based measures simultaneously, provided a hybrid approach of MCDM methods in fuzzy environment for financial performance evaluation of automotive and parts manufacturing industry of Tehran stock exchange (TSE).for this purpose Fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) is applied to determine the relative important of each criterion, then The companies are ranked according their financial performance by using fuzzy additive ratio assessment (Fuzzy ARAS) method. The finding of this study showed effective of this approach in evaluating financial performance

Determination Maintenance Strategies using multi-stage Fuzzy Inference System (the case study of shahid salimi's power plants)

Abstract: Maintenance and Repairment is important, because Efficient Management can be very Effective in Countinuity Production Lines and Reduce Costs. This Problem is very important in power plants as the main resource of energy supply in the country. The Purpose of This Paper is to Presentation a Practical Approach to Determine Maintenance Strategy that is Suitable for any Device. In This Regard, the Fuzzy FMEA Approach and Design Fuzzy Inference System Evaluated the Risk of Critical Failures; as well as the Intensity also was assessed for Futher Investigation; Combining these Results, Appropriate Maintenance Strategy each Device was Determined. The Results Show, the “Generator” as the main unit of Electricity Production in Power Plants, with the Risk Priority Number of 6.56 and Intensity of 0.55 in the Fourth Dimention of Graph RPN-TI has been. In This Case, the Appropriate Strategy for this Device, the Maintenance Strategy is Proactive. Since the Devices include: Ayrpryhytr, Turbine Condenser, F-D Fan and Electro-motor with RPN high and Low TI; in the Third Dimention of Graph have been, Strategy Condition- based on the Situation is the Appropriate Strategy for their Maintenance

Using fanp and fuzzy vikor for ranking manufacturing companies based on their financial performance

In the current study a hybrid approach is proposed for financial performance evaluation of manufacturing companies. With respect to inner dependence between financial measures, an analytic structure based on the accounting measures and economic value measures is proposed. Also, based on a type of initial information, it is proposed to evaluate financial performance of companies by applying MCDM (Multiple Criteria Decision Making) methods under fuzzy environment. In this approach Fuzzy Analytic Network Process (FANP) is applied to determine relative significances of multiple criteria used in accounting measures and economic value measures. Then companies are ranked by using Fuzzy VIKOR (VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje; in Serbian) method. In the presented case study, 143 Iranian companies in 14 manufacturing industries that trade on Tehran stock exchange (TSE) are ranked applying the proposed approach. The results represent the importance of hybrid measures in financial performance evaluation of companies

Applying fuzzy MCDM for financial performance evaluation of Iranian companies

Financial performance evaluation is very important in a highly competitive business environment. Accordingly, an accurate and appropriate performance evaluation is critical. Financial performance indicators reflect the competitiveness of a company and they must be carefully identified in the evaluation process. Generally, accounting measures are used for performance evaluation. However, these measures are not sufficient for performance evaluation in the today’s competitive economy. Therefore, value based measures have recently been introduced to express the company value. In this study, a hybrid approach is proposed for financial performance evaluation of automotive companies of Tehran stock exchange (TSE). For this purpose, a hierarchical financial performance evaluation model is structured based on the accounting measures and economic value measures. In this approach Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) is applied to determine weights of criteria. Then the companies are ranked by using Fuzzy VIKOR (VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (in Serbian), Fuzzy Additive Ratio Assessment (ARAS-F) and Fuzzy Complex Proportional Assessment (Fuzzy COPRAS), simultaneously. Also results of three outranking methods are combined by using the mean ranks. The results represented the highest importance of economic value measures than accounting measures in financial performance evaluation of companies. Six companies were ranked applying the proposed approach
