    Corporate Social Action: Conceptual Definition and Typology

    This document makes a critical analysis of the concept of Corporate Social Action (CSA), proposes a definition for this concept and makes a typology about different forms of CSA. It also discusses the relationship between this concept, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Corporate Social Marketing (MSC). It presents the results of an empirical study in Uruguay, which served to assess the suitability of the definition and the typology.     Commitment to the community as a dimension of CSR: A Descriptive Overview of the Business Practices in Uruguay

    This paper presents a descriptive overview of the management actions for the benefit of the Community, carried out by companies belonging to business organizations that promote CSR in Uruguay. In the first place the paper contains an analysis of the documentation provided by this kind of organizations and some of their suggested criteria towards an adequate management in social action are extracted from there.     El proyecto de investigación, que culmina con esta publicación, se propuso mejorar nuestra comprensión de la realidad del trabajo voluntario y de las experiencias de compromiso social en Uruguay a través del análisis de las prácticas y de los discursos de experiencias emergentes o innovadoras, así como su vinculación con las transformaciones en las relaciones entre el Estado y la sociedad civil. Otro objetivo central del estudio fue la identifi cación, a partir del análisis, de buenas prácticas, para que puedan ser recogidas como aprendizajes y ofrecerlas a otras organizaciones voluntarias que las quieran replicar
