Noise Enhanced Activity in a Complex Network
We consider the influence of local noise on a generalized network of
populations having positive and negative feedbacks. The population dynamics at
the nodes is nonlinear, typically chaotic, and allows cessation of activity if
the population falls below a threshold value. We investigate the global
stability of this large interactive system, as indicated by the average number
of nodal populations that manage to remain active. Our central result is that
the probability of obtaining active nodes in this network is significantly
enhanced under fluctuations. Further, we find a sharp transition in the number
of active nodes as noise strength is varied, along with clearly evident scaling
behaviour near the critical noise strength. Lastly, we also observe noise
induced temporal coherence in the active sub-network, namely, there is an
enhancement in synchrony among the nodes at an intermediate noise strength.Comment: 7 pages, 11 figure
Tension between implications from PREX-2 data and gravitational tidal response on dense matter equation of state
Recently an improved value of neutron skin thickness of was
reported in Lead Radius EXperiment-2 (PREX-2) to be fm which corresponds to high estimations of nuclear
symmetry energy () and its slope (). The
updated values of and commensurating to the
neutron star observable estimations lie exterior to the astrophysical observed
range. The higher values of at deduced from recent
PREX-2 data correlates to matter being easily deformable (yielding higher
radius values) around intermediate matter densities leading to higher values of
creating a tension between the terrestrial and astrophysical
observations. In this study, we exploit this tension to constrain the
-scalar meson coupling parameter space.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures. Conference proceeding of the "Nuclear Physics in

In Vivo Bioavailability and Therapeutic Assessment of Host-Guest Inclusion Phenomena for the Hydrophobic Molecule Etodolac: Pharmacodynamic and Pharmacokinetic Evaluation
The aim of present investigation was 1) to evaluate the in vivo bioavailability of an Etodolac (ETD)-β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) inclusion complex system prepared by kneading and spray drying techniques in rats, 2) to study the pharmacodynamic parameters in various animal models for analyzing the therapeutic response and, 3) to evaluate the pharmacokinetic profile of the drug administered. Inclusion complexation with β-CD enhanced the solubility of the drug, improved bioavailability and reduced ulcerogenicity of ETD in rats. Pharmacodynamic studies were carried out in normal LACA mice and pharmacokinetic evaluation was done in male Wistar rats. Pharmacokinetic parameters evaluated for the inclusion complexes revealed good correlation. The minimum dose necessary to produce analgesic or anti-arthritic activity was also decreased, indicating that the host-guest strategy that uses β-CD and ETD was very effective and could be successfully employed in the preparation of pharmaceutical formulations of anti-arthritics and analgesics
Nonequilibrium dynamics of the Jaynes-Cummings dimer
We investigate the nonequilibrium dynamics of a Josephson-coupled
Jaynes-Cummings dimer in the presence of Kerr nonlinearity, which can be
realized in the cavity and circuit quantum electrodynamics systems. The
semiclassical dynamics is analyzed systematically to chart out a variety of
photonic Josephson oscillations and their regime of stability. Different types
of transitions between the dynamical states lead to the self-trapping
phenomenon, which results in photon population imbalance between the two
cavities. We also study the dynamics quantum mechanically to identify
characteristic features of different steady states and to explore fascinating
quantum effects, such as spin dephasing, phase fluctuation, and revival
phenomena of the photon field, as well as the entanglement of spin qubits. For
a particular "self-trapped" state, the mutual information between the atomic
qubits exhibits a direct correlation with the photon population imbalance,
which is promising for generating photon mediated entanglement between two non
interacting qubits in a controlled manner. Under a sudden quench from stable to
unstable regime, the photon distribution exhibits phase space mixing with a
rapid loss of coherence, resembling a thermal state. Finally, we discuss the
relevance of the new results in experiments, which can have applications in
quantum information processing and quantum technologies
Fast neutron star cooling in light of the PREX-2 experiment
The nuclear symmetry energy and its behaviour with density has been recently
evaluated with enhanced value by PREX-2 experiment. This new values enables
direct Urca neutrino emission process to be functioning in the dense matter
inside neutron stars. With this new outlook we study the cooling rate of
canonical mass neutron stars and compare with available observational cooling
data. We find most of the isolated neutron star thermal profile is compatible
with the cooling of canonical mass star including superfluidity suppression.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures. Accepted for publication in Phys. Rev.
(Anti)kaon condensation in strongly magnetized dense matter
Recent observations of several massive pulsars, with masses near and above
, point towards the existence of matter at very high densities,
compared to normal matter that we are familiar with in our terrestrial world.
This leads to the possibility of appearance of exotic degrees of freedom other
than nucleons inside the core of the neutrons stars (NS). Another significant
property of NSs is the presence of high surface magnetic field, with highest
range of the order of G. We study the properties of highly dense
matter with the possibility of appearance of heavier strange and non-strange
baryons, and kaons in presence of strong magnetic field. We find that the
presence of a strong magnetic field stiffens the matter at high density,
delaying the kaon appearance and, hence, increasing the maximum attainable mass
of NS family.Comment: 16 pages, 10 figures; accepted for publication in Phys. Rev.
SCREENING OF LIPID PROFILE IN NON- OBESE HYPERTENSIVE SUBJECTS AT A TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL IN BIHAR
Background: Obesity is a significant risk factor for metabolic syndrome in adults. Central fat distribution greatly alters the lipid profile and induces atherogenic dyslipidemia even in normoglycaemic, non-hypertensive subjects.
Aim and Objectives: Hence, the aim of the present study to assess lipid profile changes in non-obese hypertensive subjects. Obesity, hypertension and dyslipidemia are the three highly significant risk factor for the deranged lipid profile. Obesity can be defined as excess accumulation of body fat arising from a sustained or a periodic positive energy balance that when energy intake exceeds energy expenditure [1]. Indicators of overweight are useful in the diagnosis and management of obesity in both children and adults.
Materials and Methods: This study was conducted on newly diagnosed cases of essential hypertension attending medical outdoor of M.G.M. Medical College, Kisanganj. A complete clinical examination including laboratory investigation was done to exclude any systemic or other diseases which are likely to affect blood lipid levels directly or indirectly.
Results: The association between dyslipidaemia, obesity and hypertension is well established and all have been found to be major risk factor for the development of CAD, a leading cause of visits to physician and cause of death .
Conclusion: Our study was carry out to know the effect of obesity on lipid profile profile only in hypertensive and not in general population, and the study found some definite but paradoxical effects. These are that in obesity on a background of hypertension, the total and LDL cholesterol as also the HDL cholesterol are decreased, but on use other hand, the value of VLDL cholesterol and triglycerides are grossly and significantly increased. These finding have two major Clinical implications in that obese hypertensives will be more prone to metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes mellitus, and steps should be taken to prevent them accordingly and also apart from statins one should treat the obese hypertensives with fibrates, fat restriction and physical exercise also
