Tunable asymmetric magnetoimpedance effect in ferromagnetic NiFe/Cu/Co films

We investigate the magnetization dynamics through the magnetoimpedance effect in ferromagnetic NiFe/Cu/Co films. We observe that the magnetoimpedance response is dependent on the thickness of the non-magnetic Cu spacer material, a fact associated to the kind of the magnetic interaction between the ferromagnetic layers. Thus, we present an experimental study on asymmetric magnetoimpedance in ferromagnetic films with biphase magnetic behavior and explore the possibility of tuning the linear region of the magnetoimpedance curves around zero magnetic field by varying the thickness of the non-magnetic spacer material, and probe current frequency. We discuss the experimental magnetoimpedance results in terms of the different mechanisms governing the magnetization dynamics at distinct frequency ranges, quasi-static magnetic properties, thickness of the non-magnetic spacer material, and the kind of the magnetic interaction between the ferromagnetic layers. The results place ferromagnetic films with biphase magnetic behavior exhibiting asymmetric magnetoimpedance effect as a very attractive candidate for application as probe element in the development of auto-biased linear magnetic field sensors.Comment: 5 figure

Asymmetrical bloch branes and the hierarchy problem

We investigate a two scalar fields split braneworld model which leads to a possible approach to the hierarchy problem within the thick brane scenario. The model exhibits a resulting asymmetric warp factor suitable for this purpose. The solution is obtained by means of the orbit equation approach for a specific value of one of the parameters. Besides, we analyze the model qualitative behaviour for arbitrary parameters by inspecting the underlying dynamical system defined by the equations which give rise to the braneworld model. Correlações genéticas do peso e do perímetro escrotal de machos aos 12 meses de idade e características de crescimento de fêmeas, na raça Canchim.

O peso e o perímetro escrotal de machos aos 12 meses de idade tem sido utilizados como critério de seleção em bovinos de corte. Alguns trabalhos sugerem que a seleção para peso pode resultar em animais mais pesados a idade adulta (BARBOSA, 1991; MASCIOLI et al., 2000) e em mudanças desfavoráveis em características que medem a preciocidade reprodutiva em fêmeas (MARIANTE et al., 1978). Outros autores, entretanto verificaram correlações genética favoráveis entre pesos e características ligadas a precocidade reprodutiva (WERRE e BRINKS, 1986; BARBOSA, 1991; MASCIOLI et al., 1999; SILVA, et al., 2000) e ao peso adulto (SILVA et al., 2000) de fêmeas bovinas. Com relação ao perímetro escrotal, trabalhos mostram que a seleção para essa característica resultaria em resposta correlacionada positiva em pesos (MEYER et al., 1991; ALENCAR et al., 1993b; GRESSLER et al., 1998; SILVA et al. 2000).
