Analysis of Human Insulin Analogues in Vitro, Using Gel Chromatographic Method

    Get PDF
The incubation medium and incubated human pancreas were gel chromatographed on the Bio-Gel P-30 column after extraction with acid ethanol. The extracted immunoreactive insulin (IRI) was successfully separated into two peaks at the position of 6000 molecular weight region. These two peaks corresponded to those which were detected in human serum. These findings suggest that the two groups of insulin are directly secreted from human pancreatic tissue. But the incorporated [3H] leucine peak into acid-ethanol extractable protein did not elute out at the same position as each insulin peak. Therefore, the measurement of [3H] leucine incorporation into acid-ethanol extractable protein is not a good indicator to evaluate insulin biosynthesis

    Cryosurgical Hemorrhoidectomy: Technique and Method

    Get PDF
The key to gain successful results with cryosurgical hemorrhoidectomy is based on the prevention of prolapse of the edematous tissue after freezing. To prevent the edema, it is important to pull out the hemorrhoid as much as possible during freezing, to freeze only on the rectal side of the anal verge, to avoid freezing the anal verge, and to freeze the hemorrhoids in two or three separate stages when they are large such as the fourth-degree. The anal discomfort and discharge in these patients are related to prolapse of frozen tissue. Cryosurgery is an effective method of treatment for hemorrhoids if care is taken to use the proper techniques

Distribution and Elimination of Insulin and C-peptide in a Benign Insulinoma Patient

    Get PDF
The distribution and elimination of insulin and C-peptide was evaluated in a case of benign insulinoma, using the method of gel chromatography. The significant differences between total Immunoreactive insulin (IRI) level and the level of Peak I plus Peak II of IRI was noticed in splenic vein. This fact suggested that intermediate and/or abnormal IRI could be released from the tumor. In order to diagnose a hypoglycemic patient with completely normal IRI and CPR level in peripheral blood, the gel chromatographic separation of IRI from splenic and/or portal blood could be useful

A Cystic Lymphangioma of the Colon Seen in a Patient with Early Gastric Cancer

    Get PDF
Lymphangiomas are very rare benign neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract. A case of cystic lymphangioma in the hepatic flexure of the colon seen in patient with early gastric cancer is reported and the literature is reviewed

Lymphangioma of the Small Intestine : A Case Report

    Get PDF
Lymphangiomas of the small intestine are rare tumors arising from masses of dilated lymphatic vessels in the submucosa. There are 11 cases of lymphangioma of the small intestine in the Japanese literature. We report a case of lymphangioma of the jejunum seen in a 76-year-old female and discuss with clinical feature

An Endoscopic Case Report of Jejunal Leiomyosarcoma and Review of the Japanese Literature

Jejunoscopy for a small intestinal leiomyosarcoma was performed on a 73-year-old male. The patient was admitted because of a palpable abdominal mass. A barium meal study, abdominal ultrasonography, computed tomography and angiography suggested a leiomyogenic tumor with a central cavity arising from the jejunal loop extraluminally. Enteroscopy with a pediatric colonofiberscope (PCF) enabled us to observe a mucosal ulcer and a part of the cavity of the tumor. Histology of the resected tumor revealed it to be a leiomyosarcoma with a large central hollow connected to the mucosal ulcer. The authors discussed the endoscopic findings of 17 previously reported Japanese cases of jejunal leiomyosarcoma and the present case
