Examining the Impact of Course Modality and Course Content Presentation Modality on Undergraduate Grade Outcomes and Course Evaluations
This study was conducted with students previously enrolled in an introduction to educational psychology course during the fall 2019 âF2Fâ, fall 2020 âonlineâ, and fall 2021 âmixedâ semesters, (N =515). The primary goal of this study was to examine how course modality, online and F2F, impacts certain course variables. Specifically, research questions examine how course modality impacts overall course performance, exam performance, homework completion, homework timeliness, and student ratings. Overall course grade, exam grades, and homework completion information were downloaded from Canvas and students identifying information were removed. De-identified student evaluation data were shared with the investigator.
A Kruskal-Wallis H test was used to examine the effects of modality (F2F, Online) on overall course performance, exam performance, assignment submissions, and adherence to deadlines. A Mann-U Whitney Test was used to examine the effects of modality on student ratings. There was no significant difference in course performance across modalities. However, there were significant differences in exam performance, homework completion, and timeliness in which the F2F semester had significantly better performance than the online and mixed semesters. Student ratings were significantly higher for the F2F semester on measures of classroom environment and structure. Additionally, those in the online semester spent significantly more time on the course than those in F2F semester. Implication for findings, limitations, and directions for future research are discussed

A Proposed Model of Metamaterial Complementary Split- Ring Resonator to Reduce Microstrip Array Antenna Dimension
This study aims to develop a model of complementary split-ring resonator (CSRR) metamaterial structure to reduce microstrip array antenna dimensions. The smaller antenna dimensions are needed in communication system applications such as cellular devices and IoT sensors. It is necessary to miniaturize the antenna size to provide compatible antenna size with the development of wireless communication systems. This study was developed by designing the CSRR model on the microstrip array antenna at 2300 MHz LTE frequency band and using FR-4 Epoxy substrate material. The simulation and measurement results show the microstrip array antenna with the addition of CSRR structure that has 31% smaller dimension compared to without using CSRR structure. The radiation performances with the addition of CSRR structure also shows a significant improvement of bandwidth and return loss with a slight decrease in gain. This study proves that the addition of CSRR structure is one of the solution to miniaturization of microstrip antenna.

Characterization of IM7/8552 Thin-Ply and Hybrid Thin-Ply Composites
Composite materials have increasingly been used for aerospace applications due to improved performance and reduced weight compared to their metallic counterparts. Inclusion of thin-ply material, plies with cured thickness half or less than standard composites, have potential to improve performance and reduce structural weight. Limited characterization of thin-ply IM7/8552 material in 30 and 70 grams per square meter fiber areal weights has been carried out using a series of selected American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) tests. Tests included unnotched tension, unnotched compression, v-notched rail shear, open-hole tension, and open-hole compression. Unidirectional, cross-ply, quasiisotropic and hybrid hard laminates were included in the study, and were compared to standard-ply laminates. Properties compared include fiber volume, laminate moduli, and failure strength, with failure modes also being examined. The thin-ply specimens exhibited similar or superior performance to standard ply laminates in many of the cases compared. Improvements in strength for laminates containing thin-ply material were seen for unidirectional laminates under unnotched tension, quasi-isotropic laminates under unnotched tension and compression, and hard laminates under open hole tension. Additional investigation is required to determine appropriate ply stacking rules for hybrids of thin and standard plies to avoid undesirable failure modes such as axial splitting. However, the observed performance improvements demonstrated by the conducted ASTM tests of hybrid thin-ply hard laminates could have benefits for improved structural weight in aircraft
Design and Implementation of Low-cost Wideband Vivaldi Antenna for Ground Penetrating Radar
Vivaldi antenna is one of the many types of antenna implemented on ground penetrating radar (GPR). Its characteristics are pointed radiation and wide bandwidth. This study aims to design an antenna used in GPR for non-destructive test application on a transportation to check the roadway material. This Vivaldi antenna has a wide bandwidth, 1 GHz approximately, with the frequency range between 1 GHz and 2 GHz. This Vivaldi antenna design is obtained by changing few parameters of common Vivaldi antenna to fulfill its design characteristics: low cost and wide bandwidth. The antenna size is 350mm x 300mm. The simulation result shows that there is a return loss below â10 dB for 1â2 GHz frequency range, and the lowest return loss at that frequency range is around â35 dB on 1.4 GHz. This article also explains about the effect of tapered slot size changes to return loss value and frequency. When the antenna width is enlarged, the value of return loss is gets smaller in the lower frequency. Therefore, antenna bandwidth gets wider. The same happens when tapered slot size gets bigger value, the antenna working frequency switches into the lower frequency. It can be concluded that antenna bandwidth widening can be done by enlarging tapered length value and reducing tapered rate value.
