Citation Networks in High Energy Physics
The citation network constituted by the SPIRES data base is investigated
empirically. The probability that a given paper in the SPIRES data base has
citations is well described by simple power laws, ,
with for less than 50 citations and for 50 or more citations. Two models are presented that both represent the
data well, one which generates power laws and one which generates a stretched
exponential. It is not possible to discriminate between these models on the
present empirical basis. A consideration of citation distribution by subfield
shows that the citation patterns of high energy physics form a remarkably
homogeneous network. Further, we utilize the knowledge of the citation
distributions to demonstrate the extreme improbability that the citation
records of selected individuals and institutions have been obtained by a random
draw on the resulting distribution.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures, 2 table
Sustainable bio-economy that delivers the environment-food-energy-water nexus objectives::the current status in Malaysia
Biomass is a promising resource in Malaysia for energy, fuels, and high value-added products. However, regards to biomass value chains, the numerous restrictions and challenges related to the economic and environmental features must be considered. The major concerns regarding the enlargement of biomass plantation is that it requires large amounts of land and environmental resources such as water and soil that arises the danger of creating severe damages to the ecosystem (e.g. deforestation, water pollution, soil depletion etc.). Regarded concerns can be diminished when all aspects associated with palm biomass conversion and utilization linked with environment, food, energy and water (EFEW) nexus to meet the standard requirement and to consider the potential impact on the nexus as a whole. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the detail interactions between all the components in the nexus once intended to look for the best solution to exploit the great potential of biomass. This paper offers an overview regarding the present potential biomass availability for energy production, technology readiness, feasibility study on the techno-economic analyses of the biomass utilization and the impact of this nexus on value chains. The agro-biomass resources potential and land suitability for different crops has been overviewed using satellite imageries and the outcomes of the nexus interactions should be incorporated in developmental policies on biomass. The paper finally discussed an insight of digitization of the agriculture industry as future strategy to modernize agriculture in Malaysia. Hence, this paper provides holistic overview of biomass competitiveness for sustainable bio-economy in Malaysia

Published by BMJ.Background Persistent tendon pain that impairs function has inconsistent medical terms that can influence choice of treatment.1 When a person is told they have tendinopathy by clinician A or tendinitis by clinician B, they might feel confused or be alarmed at receiving what they might perceive as two different diagnoses. This may lead to loss of confidence in their health professional and likely adds to uncertainty if they were to search for information about their condition. Clear and uniform terminology also assists inter-professional communication. Inconsistency in terminology for painful tendon disorders is a problem at numerous anatomical sites. Historically, the term âtendinitisâ was first used to describe tendon pain, thickening and impaired function (online supplementary figure S1). The term âtendinosisâ has also been used in a small number of publications, some of which were very influential.2 3 Subsequently, âtendinopathyâ emerged as the most common term for persistent tendon pain.4 5 To our knowledge, experts (clinicians and researchers) or patients have never engaged in a formal process to discuss the terminology we use. Kinetics of active surface-mediated diffusion in spherically symmetric domains
We present an exact calculation of the mean first-passage time to a target on
the surface of a 2D or 3D spherical domain, for a molecule alternating phases
of surface diffusion on the domain boundary and phases of bulk diffusion. We
generalize the results of [J. Stat. Phys. {\bf 142}, 657 (2011)] and consider a
biased diffusion in a general annulus with an arbitrary number of regularly
spaced targets on a partially reflecting surface. The presented approach is
based on an integral equation which can be solved analytically. Numerically
validated approximation schemes, which provide more tractable expressions of
the mean first-passage time are also proposed. In the framework of this minimal
model of surface-mediated reactions, we show analytically that the mean
reaction time can be minimized as a function of the desorption rate from the

Generation of maximum spin entanglement induced by cavity field in quantum-dot systems
Equivalent-neighbor interactions of the conduction-band electron spins of
quantum dots in the model of Imamoglu et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 83, 4204 (1999)]
are analyzed. Analytical solution and its Schmidt decomposition are found and
applied to evaluate how much the initially excited dots can be entangled to the
remaining dots if all of them are initially disentangled. It is demonstrated
that the perfect maximally entangled states (MES) can only be generated in the
systems of up to 6 dots with a single dot initially excited. It is also shown
that highly entangled states, approximating the MES with a good accuracy, can
still be generated in systems of odd number of dots with almost half of them
being excited. A sudden decrease of entanglement is observed by increasing the
total number of dots in a system with a fixed number of excitations.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figures, to appear in Phys. Rev.
Search for Anomalous Couplings in the Higgs Sector at LEP
Anomalous couplings of the Higgs boson are searched for through the processes
e^+ e^- -> H gamma, e^+ e^- -> e^+ e^- H and e^+ e^- -> HZ. The mass range 70
GeV < m_H < 190 GeV is explored using 602 pb^-1 of integrated luminosity
collected with the L3 detector at LEP at centre-of-mass energies
sqrt(s)=189-209 GeV. The Higgs decay channels H -> ffbar, H -> gamma gamma, H
-> Z\gamma and H -> WW^(*) are considered and no evidence is found for
anomalous Higgs production or decay. Limits on the anomalous couplings d, db,
Delta(g1z), Delta(kappa_gamma) and xi^2 are derived as well as limits on the H
-> gamma gamma and H -> Z gamma decay rates
Measurement of W Polarisation at LEP
The three different helicity states of W bosons produced in the reaction e+
e- -> W+ W- -> l nu q q~ at LEP are studied using leptonic and hadronic W
decays. Data at centre-of-mass energies \sqrt s = 183-209 GeV are used to
measure the polarisation of W bosons, and its dependence on the W boson
production angle. The fraction of longitudinally polarised W bosons is measured
to be 0.218 \pm 0.027 \pm 0.016 where the first uncertainty is statistical and
the second systematic, in agreement with the Standard Model expectation
Bose-Einstein Correlations of Neutral and Charged Pions in Hadronic Z Decays
Bose-Einstein correlations of both neutral and like-sign charged pion pairs
are measured in a sample of 2 million hadronic Z decays collected with the L3
detector at LEP. The analysis is performed in the four-momentum difference
range 300 MeV < Q < 2 GeV. The radius of the neutral pion source is found to be
smaller than that of charged pions. This result is in qualitative agreement
with the string fragmentation model
Z Boson Pair-Production at LEP
Events stemming from the pair-production of Z bosons in e^+e^- collisions are
studied using 217.4 pb^-1 of data collected with the L3 detector at
centre-of-mass energies from 200 GeV up to 209 GeV. The special case of events
with b quarks is also investigated.
Combining these events with those collected at lower centre-of-mass energies,
the Standard Model predictions for the production mechanism are verified. In
addition, limits are set on anomalous couplings of neutral gauge bosons and on
effects of extra space dimensions
Neutral-Current Four-Fermion Production in e+e- Interactions at LEP
Neutral-current four-fermion production, e+e- -> ffff is studied in 0.7/fb of
data collected with the L3 detector at LEP at centre-of-mass energies
root(s)=183-209GeV. Four final states are considered: qqvv, qqll, llll and
llvv, where l denotes either an electron or a muon. Their cross sections are
measured and found to agree with the Standard Model predictions. In addition,
the e+e- -> Zgamma* -> ffff process is studied and its total cross section at
the average centre-of-mass energy 196.6GeV is found to be 0.29 +/- 0.05 +/-
0.03 pb, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic,
in agreement with the Standard Model prediction of 0.22 pb. Finally, the mass
spectra of the qqll final states are analysed to search for the possible
production of a new neutral heavy particle, for which no evidence is found
