Correlation Between Dental Status and Education Level Among the Adult Population (35-44) in Sarajevo

Rezultati izvješća ambulantno-polikliničkih službi upozoravaju na loš dentalni status u odrasle populacije (35-44 godine). Poznato je da različiti čimbenici sredine (socio-ekonomski čimbenici, životna dob, razina naobrazbe, spol, itd.) imaju utjecaj na oralno zdravlje. Svrha ovoga rada bila je ustanoviti utjecaj stupnja naobrazbe na dentalni status ispitanika. Uzorak su činile 121 osoba, prosječne starosti 40,4 godine. Polovina uzorka (61 osoba) bile su osobe s visokom stručnom spremom, a druga polovina (60 osoba) ispitanici s osnovnom školom. Dobiveni rezultati pokazuju statistički znatnu razliku dentalnoga statusa između tih dvju skupina ispitanika. Potrebno je hitno planirati i provesti program prevencije oralnoga zdravlja u stanovnika te životne dobi.The result of a study on patient services show a very bad dental status among the adult population (35-44). It is known that various environmental factors (socio-economic factors, age, education, gender, etc.) have an influence on oral health. The aim of this paper was to establish the dental status in correlation with educational level of examined persons. The sample consisted of 121 persons everage age 40.4 years. Among them were 61 persons with university degree, and 60 persons with primary school education level. Dental status results show that the difference of DMTF index between university graduated level of examined persons and examined persons with primary school education is highly significant. It is necessary to urgently plan and implement the oral health prevention program for our inhabitants

Dental Treatment Complications of a Patient with Diabetes Mellitus - Case Report

Prevalencija diabetes mellitusa (DM) povećava se u cijelome svijetu kao rezultat promjena u načinu života, dužem životnom vijeku i sl. Stomatolozi će imati sve više takvih pacijenata u svojoj svakodnevnoj praksi. Svaka stomatološka intervencija povezana je s većim rizikom nastanka komplikacija u pacijenata s DM-om nego u pacijenata bez te bolesti. Ovaj rad pokazuje slučaj pacijenta s IDDM om u kojega je neadekvatan stomatološki tretman uzrokovao komplikacije, poremetio opće zdravstveno stanje i ugrozio mu život. Svrha ovoga rada je upozoriti na obaveznu primjenu suvremenoga protokola za stomatološki tretman pacijenata s DM-om.The prevalence of diabetes mellits (DM) is increasing worldwide as a result of lifestyle changes, longer life of individuals, etc. Dental profesionals will have more of these patients in their everyday practice. Every oral intervention is connected with higher risk among people with DM compared to patients without DM. This report shows the case of a patient with IDDM, where inadequate dental treatment lead to complications, damaged his general health and jeapardized his life. The aim of this paper is to point out obligatory application of protocol for dental treatment of patients with DM

Dentalna se ergonomija definira kao prilagodba na uvjete i metode rada liječnika - tima uz poštovanje vlastitih fizičkih i psihičkih kapaciteta kako bi zdravo i konforno funkcionirali u svome profesionalnom angažmanu. Praktičarima se često događa paradoks: dok skrbe o oralnome zdravlju svojih pacijenata, potpuno zanemaruju skrb o vlastitom. U radu su prikazane osnovne upute stomatologu- timu kako da se služe vlastitim kapacitetima, mogućnostima opreme, instrumentarija i organizacije posla da bi poštivali ergonomske norme i smanjili rizik od profesionalnih bolesti.Dental ergonomics is based on planning the adapting tasks and equipment of the dentists to promote comfort and efficiency and production in the work environment. In practice we are often faced with the paradox: while we take care of the oral health of our patients, we completely neglect care about our health condition. In this article we will present basic guidelines for the dentist/team on how to use personal capacities, capacities of dental equipment, instruments an menagement of dental team work in order to achieve ergonomic standards and to minimize risk of occupational disease

Landscape, Memory, and the Shifting Regional Geographies of Northwest Bosnia-Herzegovina

Writing and arguing with older discourses that have informed the subdiscipline of regional geography and setting them against new ways of conceiving of the region, this article considers the northwest of Bosnia-Herzegovina as a site that calls for a newly animated form of regional study. Of particular concern here is the role that memory and commemorative practices play in such a spatial schema. The monumental landscapes of the Tito regime and its collective commemoration of World War II sit alongside and are troubled by the more recent traumas and spaces of unmarked death associated with the ethnic war in Bosnia during the early 1990s. Read together, northwest Bosnia-Herzegovina functions as a vivid exemplar for understanding traumatic historical mourning as a phenomenological process that is inseparable from the wider geopolitical landscape
