    Observation of Cabibbo suppressed Bβ†’D(βˆ—)Kβˆ’B \to D^{(*)}K^- decays at Belle

    Cabibbo-suppressed decays Bβ†’D(βˆ—)Kβˆ’B \to D^{(*)} K^- using a 10.4 fbβˆ’1^{-1} data sample accumulated at the Ξ₯(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+eβˆ’e^+ e^- storage ring. The high-momentum particle identification system of Belle is used to isolate signals for Bβ†’D0Kβˆ’B\to D^0 K^-, D+Kβˆ’D^+K^-, Dβˆ—0Kβˆ’D^{*0}K^- and Dβˆ—+Kβˆ’D^{*+}K^- from the Bβ†’D(βˆ—)Ο€βˆ’B\to D^{(*)}\pi^- decay processes which have much larger branching fractions. We report ratios of Cabibbo-suppressed to Cabibbo-favored branching fractions of: B(Bβˆ’β†’D0Kβˆ’)/B(Bβˆ’β†’D0Ο€βˆ’)=0.079Β±0.009Β±0.006{\cal B}(B^- \to D^0 K^-)/{\cal B}(B^- \to D^0\pi^-) = 0.079\pm0.009\pm0.006; B(B0Λ‰β†’D+Kβˆ’)/B(B0Λ‰β†’D+Ο€βˆ’)=0.068Β±0.015Β±0.007{\cal B}(\bar{B^0} \to D^+ K^-)/{\cal B}(\bar{B^0} \to D^+\pi^-) = 0.068\pm0.015\pm0.007; B(Bβˆ’β†’Dβˆ—0Kβˆ’)/B(Bβˆ’β†’Dβˆ—0Ο€βˆ’)=0.078Β±0.019Β±0.009{\cal B}(B^-\to D^{*0}K^-)/{\cal B}(B^-\to D^{*0}\pi^-) = 0.078 \pm 0.019 \pm 0.009; and B(BΛ‰0β†’Dβˆ—+Kβˆ’)/B(BΛ‰0β†’Dβˆ—+Ο€βˆ’)=0.074Β±0.015Β±0.006{\cal B}(\bar{B}^0\to D^{*+}K^-)/{\cal B}(\bar{B}^0\to D^{*+}\pi^-)= 0.074 \pm 0.015 \pm 0.006. The first error is statistical and the second is systematic. These are the first reported observations of the Bβ†’D+Kβˆ’B\to D^+K^-, Dβˆ—0Kβˆ’D^{*0}K^- and Dβˆ—+Kβˆ’D^{*+}K^- decay processes.Comment: LaTeX, 12 pages, 2 figure
