    A new security architecture for SIP based P2P computer networks

    Many applications are transferred from C/S (Client/Server) mode to P2P (Peer-to-Peer) mode such as VoIP (Voice over IP). This paper presents a new security architecture, i.e. a trustworthy authentication algorithm of peers, for Session Initialize Protocol (SIP) based P2P computer networks. A mechanism for node authentication using a cryptographic primitive called one-way accumulator is proposed to secure the P2P SIP computer networks. It leverages the distributed nature of P2P to allow for distributed resource discovery and rendezvous in a SIP network, thus eliminating (or at least reducing) the need for centralized servers. The distributed node authentication algorithm is established for the P2P SIP computer networks. The corresponding protocol has been implemented in our P2P SIP experiment platform successfully.     Poster PresentationThe paper investigates the conditions on and directionality of cross-linguistic influence in bilingual acquisition by looking at the development of right-dislocation in Cantonese-English bilingual children. Hulk and Müller (2000) hypothesize two conditions on cross-linguistic influence in bilingual acquisition: (1) the structure involves the interface of two modules of grammar and (2) the structure in which cross-linguistic influence occurs is one where two languages overlap.     Passive and unaccusative in the jieyang dialect of chaozhou

    A distinctive syntactic feature of the Chaozhou dialect group is the use of the same morpheme in the passive and in certain intransitive constructions. In the Jieyang variety the passive marker k'e G derived from the verb 'give' requires an agent, a requirement which we relate to the subcategorization of the lexical verb 'give'. We show that the same morpheme is used with unaccusative verbs in the form [k'e G i V], where i is an expletive. pronominal: it cannot encode an agent because the unaccusative predicates concerned lack an agent argument. Therefore what appears to be a passive marker with agent in fact constitutes overt coding of unaccusativity, of a kind unusual in Chinese dialects but paralleled in several Indo-European languages. The passive and unaccusative constructions are shown to share thematic and aspectual properties: the surface subject carries the role of theme or patient, and the predicate denotes a change of state, hence the requirement for a resultative verbal complement (RVC).     Josephson Current between Triplet and Singlet Superconductors

    The Josephson effect between triplet and singlet superconductors is studied. Josephson current can flow between triplet and singlet superconductors due to the spin-orbit coupling in the spin-triplet superconductor but it is finite only when triplet superconductor has Lz=−Sz=±1L_z=-S_z=\pm 1, where LzL_z and SzS_z are the perpendicular components of orbital angular momentum and spin angular momentum of the triplet Cooper pairs, respectively. The recently observed temperature and orientational dependence of the critical current through a Josephson junction between UPt3_3 and Nb is investigated by considering a non-unitary triplet state.Comment: 4 pages, no figure

    Phase diagram of asymmetric Fermi gas across Feshbach resonance

    We study the phase diagram of the dilute two-component Fermi gas at zero temperature as a function of the polarization and coupling strength. We map out the detailed phase separations between superfluid and normal states near the Feshbach resonance. We show that there are three different coexistence of superfluid and normal phases corresponding to phase separated states between: (I) the partially polarized superfluid and the fully polarized normal phases, (II) the unpolarized superfluid and the fully polarized normal phases and (III) the unpolarized superfluid and the partially polarized normal phases from strong-coupling BEC side to weak-coupling BCS side. For pairing between two species, we found this phase separation regime gets wider and moves toward the BEC side for the majority species are heavier but shifts to BCS side and becomes narrow if they are lighter.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures.     Recently the identification of 3He-A with the axial state has been questioned. It is suggested that the A-phase can actually be in the axiplanar state. We point out in the present paper that experiments in a film geometry may be useful to distinguish the above two possibilities.     Checking the healthiness of commitment profile from its prediction of burnout

    Abstract no. 443This paper examines the commitment profiles of Hong Kong Chinese architecture students with the 3-factor model of professional commitment and its impact on burnout. The Chinese version of Maslach Burnout Inventory – Student Survey and adapted version of Occupational Commitment Questionnaire are administered to measure burnout and commitment profile. Multiple regression models are performed with burnout dimensions as dependent variables, the three facets of commitment, namely affective, continuance and normative commitment, as independent variables, and demographic variables as controlling variables. The findings are consistent across different models that continuance commitment is positively, affective and normative commitment negatively, associated with burnout. The study suggests, from its relationship with burnout, a healthy commitment profile is composed of more affective and normative commitments and less continuance commitment in the population of architecture students.     Resonant pairing between Fermions with unequal masses

    We study the pairing between Fermions of different masses, especially at the unitary limit. At equal populations, the thermodynamic properties are identical with the equal mass case provided an appropriate rescaling is made. At unequal populations, for sufficiently light majority species, the system does not phase separate. For sufficiently heavy majority species, the phase separated normal phase have a density larger than that of the superfluid. For atoms in harmonic traps, the density profiles for unequal mass Fermions can be drastically different from their equal-mass counterparts.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figure
