Wave Equations for Classical Two-Component Proca Fields in Curved Spacetimes with Torsionless Affinities
The world formulation of the full theory of classical Proca fields in
generally relativistic spacetimes is concisely reviewed and the entire set of
pertinent field equations is transcribed in a straightforward way into the
framework of one of the Infeld-van der Waerden formalisms. Some well-known
calculational techniques are then utilized for deriving the wave equations that
control the propagation of the fields allowed for. It appears that no
interaction couplings between such fields and electromagnetic curvatures are
carried by the wave equations at issue. What results is, in effect, that the
only interactions which ultimately occur in the theoretical context under
consideration involve strictly Proca fields and wave functions for gravitons.Comment: Many improvements on the paper have still been made. In particular,
its title has been modified so as to conform further to one of its main aim
On Quantum Special Kaehler Geometry
We compute the effective black hole potential V of the most general N=2, d=4
(local) special Kaehler geometry with quantum perturbative corrections,
consistent with axion-shift Peccei-Quinn symmetry and with cubic leading order
behavior. We determine the charge configurations supporting axion-free
attractors, and explain the differences among various configurations in
relations to the presence of ``flat'' directions of V at its critical points.
Furthermore, we elucidate the role of the sectional curvature at the
non-supersymmetric critical points of V, and compute the Riemann tensor (and
related quantities), as well as the so-called E-tensor. The latter expresses
the non-symmetricity of the considered quantum perturbative special Kaehler
geometry.Comment: 1+43 pages; v2: typo corrected in the curvature of Jordan symmetric

Deformations of special geometry: in search of the topological string
The topological string captures certain superstring amplitudes which are also
encoded in the underlying string effective action. However, unlike the
topological string free energy, the effective action that comprises
higher-order derivative couplings is not defined in terms of duality covariant
variables. This puzzle is resolved in the context of real special geometry by
introducing the so-called Hesse potential, which is defined in terms of duality
covariant variables and is related by a Legendre transformation to the function
that encodes the effective action. It is demonstrated that the Hesse potential
contains a unique subsector that possesses all the characteristic properties of
a topological string free energy. Genus contributions are constructed
explicitly for a general class of effective actions associated with a
special-K\"ahler target space and are shown to satisfy the holomorphic anomaly
equation of perturbative type-II topological string theory. This identification
of a topological string free energy from an effective action is primarily based
on conceptual arguments and does not involve any of its more specific
properties. It is fully consistent with known results. A general theorem is
presented that captures some characteristic features of the equivalence, which
demonstrates at the same time that non-holomorphic deformations of special
geometry can be dealt with consistently.Comment: 44 pages, LaTex; v2, v3: minor text improvement
Instanton Corrected Non-Supersymmetric Attractors
We discuss non-supersymmetric attractors with an instanton correction in Type
IIA string theory compactified on a Calabi-Yau three-fold at large volume. For
a stable non-supersymmetric black hole, the attractor point must minimize the
effective black hole potential. We study the supersymmetric as well as
non-supersymmetric attractors for the D0-D4 system with instanton corrections.
We show that in simple models, like the STU model, the flat directions of the
mass matrix can be lifted by a suitable choice of the instanton parameters.Comment: Minor modifications, Corrected typos, 38 pages, 1 figur
BPS black holes, the Hesse potential, and the topological string
The Hesse potential is constructed for a class of four-dimensional N=2
supersymmetric effective actions with S- and T-duality by performing the
relevant Legendre transform by iteration. It is a function of fields that
transform under duality according to an arithmetic subgroup of the classical
dualities reflecting the monodromies of the underlying string compactification.
These transformations are not subject to corrections, unlike the
transformations of the fields that appear in the effective action which are
affected by the presence of higher-derivative couplings. The class of actions
that are considered includes those of the FHSV and the STU model. We also
consider heterotic N=4 supersymmetric compactifications. The Hesse potential,
which is equal to the free energy function for BPS black holes, is manifestly
duality invariant. Generically it can be expanded in terms of powers of the
modulus that represents the inverse topological string coupling constant,
, and its complex conjugate. The terms depending holomorphically on
are expected to correspond to the topological string partition function and
this expectation is explicitly verified in two cases. Terms proportional to
mixed powers of and are in principle present.Comment: 28 pages, LaTeX, added comment
The world-sheet corrections to dyons in the Heterotic theory
All the linear alpha-prime corrections, however excluding the gravitational
Chern-Simons correction, are studied in the toroidally compactified critical
Heterotic string theory. These corrections are computed to the entropy for a
BPS static spherical four dimensional dyonic black hole which represents a
wrapped fundamental string carrying arbitrary winding and momentum charges
along one cycle in the presence of KK-monopole and H-monopole charges
associated to another cycle. It is verified that after the inclusion of the
gravitational Chern-Simons corrections [hep-th/0608182], all the linear
alpha-prime corrections to the entropy for the supersymmetric dyon can be
reproduced by the inclusion of only the Gauss-Bonnet Lagrangian to the
supergravity approximation of the induced Lagrangian.Comment: JHEP style, 17 Pages; v2: a typo corrected ; v3: The coupling of the

Partition functions and elliptic genera from supergravity
We develop the spacetime aspects of the computation of partition functions
for string/M-theory on AdS(3) xM. Subleading corrections to the semi-classical
result are included systematically, laying the groundwork for comparison with
CFT partition functions via the AdS(3)/CFT(2) correspondence. This leads to a
better understanding of the "Farey tail" expansion of Dijkgraaf et. al. from
the point of view of bulk physics. Besides clarifying various issues, we also
extend the analysis to the N=2 setting with higher derivative effects included.Comment: 34 page
This work implements, as a means of assessing the stability of a cluster, a new proposal for crossvalidation of clusters that dispenses with the use of classifiers, resorting to the use of weighted samples of training and testing (Cardoso, Facel et al. 2009) We illustrate the proposed approach over a cluster of clients of CCB – Cultura Centre of Belem (Centro Cultural de Belém). The clustering is obtained by means of an estimation of a mixture finite model. In the constitution of the clusters or segments, it it taken in consideration the ordinal nature of the clustering base variables (measurements in Likert scale) in lieu of the usual modeling that would consider the same variables as metric.
