Objective: the assessment of spatial distribution of influenza in the metropolis and creation of the geographic information system (hereinafter ā€“ GIS) Ā« Influenza: Rostov-on-Don Ā«, containing data on places of case registration.Materials and methods: statistical data on influenza cases based on primary and final reports, PCR studies were used. Geocoding of addresses was performed using the servers Nominatum and the Satellite. For development of GIS we used free software QGIS version 3.2.2. As the cartographic basis OpenStreetMap community maps were used. Results: construction of variograms (Ā«heat mapsĀ») revealed the formation of several risk areas (Ā«epidemiological spotsĀ»), the boundaries of which do not coincide with the boundaries of the administrative districts of the city. Conclusions: the analysis showed that distribution of each of the subtypes of influenza A virus in the territory of Rostov-on-Don in the 2018-2019 season has specific features. We showed that in conditions of the megalopolis the spatial analysis which was carried out without taking into account the administrative boundaries provided more accurate results in comparison with traditional zoning

Objective: to study the sanitary condition of various environmental objects of the Rostov region and the degree of their contamination.Materials and methods: in the period from 2015 to 2019, more than 5600 sanitary and parasitological studies of environmental objects of the Rostov region were performed on the basis of the Rostov Research Institute of Microbiology and Parasitology: waste water and its precipitation, soil, water of open surface reservoirs. The work was carried out in accordance with the accepted normative documents. Results: it was found that 33.4Ā % of all tested samples were positive, and 1.4% of the samples contained viable eggs of various pathogens of helminthiasis and did not meet the requirements of regulatory documents. Conclusions: the results of the study indicate that the environmental objects of the Rostov region are polluted with parasitic pathogens and their unsatisfactory sanitary and parasitological condition

The complex of actions is presented carried out by the Local Administration of Russian Federal Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare Supervision Service in the Rostov Region together with the Ministry of Health of the Rostov Region and Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Rostov Region, aimed at the prevention of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections and including: organizational work, results of epidemiological surveillance during interepidemic and epidemic periods with the epidemiological situation assessment, managerial decision-making on the basis of the results obtained, as well as working with reference-centers. The epidemic rise of incidence in the season of 2015 - 2016 was more intensive judging by the majority of characteristics in comparison with the previous period. The main etiological agent of infection was influenza virus A(H1N1)pdm09 characterized by the early onset of epidemic rise from mid-January 2016, the lesser engagement of children from 3 to 6 years of age into epidemic process but maximal engagement of schoolchildren aged 7 - 14, by the higher rate of disease development, higher per cent of hospitalized with influenza diagnosis, and maximal number of deceased at the peak of epidemic
