Thermodynamical quantities of lattice full QCD from an efficient method
I extend to QCD an efficient method for lattice gauge theory with dynamical
fermions. Once the eigenvalues of the Dirac operator and the density of states
of pure gluonic configurations at a set of plaquette energies (proportional to
the gauge action) are computed, thermodynamical quantities deriving from the
partition function can be obtained for arbitrary flavor number, quark masses
and wide range of coupling constants, without additional computational cost.
Results for the chiral condensate and gauge action are presented on the
lattice at flavor number , 1, 2, 3, 4 and many quark masses and coupling
constants. New results in the chiral limit for the gauge action and its
correlation with the chiral condensate, which are useful for analyzing the QCD
chiral phase structure, are also provided.Comment: Latex, 11 figures, version accepted for publicatio
Hawking Radiation from Non-Extremal D1-D5 Black Hole via Anomalies
We take the method of anomaly cancellation for the derivation of Hawking
radiation initiated by Robinson and Wilczek, and apply it to the non-extremal
five-dimensional D1-D5 black hole in string theory. The fluxes of the electric
charge flow and the energy-momentum tensor from the black hole are obtained.
They are shown to match exactly with those of the two-dimensional black body
radiation at the Hawking temperature.Comment: 14 page
Back reaction, covariant anomaly and effective action
In the presence of back reaction, we first produce the one-loop corrections
for the event horizon and Hawking temperature of the Reissner-Nordstr\"om black
hole. Then, based on the covariant anomaly cancelation method and the effective
action technique, the modified expressions for the fluxes of gauge current and
energy momentum tensor, due to the effect of back reaction, are obtained. The
results are consistent with the Hawking fluxes of a (1+1)-dimensional blackbody
at the temperature with quantum corrections, thus confirming the robustness of
the covariant anomaly cancelation method and the effective action technique for
black holes with back reaction.Comment: 17 page
Real Scalar Field Scattering with Polynomial Approximation around Schwarzschild-de Sitter Black-hole
As one of the fitting methods, the polynomial approximation is effective to
process sophisticated problem. In this paper, we employ this approach to handle
the scattering of scalar field around the Schwarzschild-de Sitter black-hole.
The complex relationship between tortoise coordinate and radial coordinate is
replaced by the approximate polynomial. The Schrdinger-like equation,
the real boundary conditions and the polynomial approximation construct a full
Sturm-Liouville type problem. Then this boundary value problem can be solved
numerically according to two limiting cases: the first one is the Nariai
black-hole whose horizons are close to each other, the second one is when the
horizons are widely separated. Compared with previous results (Brevik and
Tian), the field near the event horizon and cosmological horizon can have a
better description.Comment: revtex4 source file, 11 pages, 8 figure
Thermomechanical Characterization And Modeling For TSV Structures
Continual scaling of devices and on-chip wiring has brought significant challenges for materials and processes beyond the 32-nm technology node in microelectronics. Recently, three-dimensional (3-D) integration with through-silicon vias (TSVs) has emerged as an effective solution to meet the future technology requirements. Among others, thermo-mechanical reliability is a key concern for the development of TSV structures used in die stacking as 3-D interconnects. This paper presents experimental measurements of the thermal stresses in TSV structures and analyses of interfacial reliability. The micro-Raman measurements were made to characterize the local distribution of the near-surface stresses in Si around TSVs. On the other hand, the precision wafer curvature technique was employed to measure the average stress and deformation in the TSV structures subject to thermal cycling. To understand the elastic and plastic behavior of TSVs, the microstructural evolution of the Cu vias was analyzed using focused ion beam (FIB) and electron backscattering diffraction (EBSD) techniques. Furthermore, the impact of thermal stresses on interfacial reliability of TSV structures was investigated by a shear-lag cohesive zone model that predicts the critical temperatures and critical via diameters.Microelectronics Research Cente
Hawking radiation from the Schwarzschild black hole with a global monopole via gravitational anomaly
Hawking flux from the Schwarzschild black hole with a global monopole is
obtained by using Robinson and Wilczek's method. Adopting a dimension reduction
technique, the effective quantum field in the (3+1)--dimensional global
monopole background can be described by an infinite collection of the
(1+1)--dimensional massless fields if neglecting the ingoing modes near the
horizon, where the gravitational anomaly can be cancelled by the
(1+1)--dimensional black body radiation at the Hawking temperature.Comment: 4 pages, no figure, 3nd revsion with one reference adde
Temperature dependence of electron-spin relaxation in a single InAs quantum dot at zero applied magnetic field
The temperature-dependent electron spin relaxation of positively charged
excitons in a single InAs quantum dot (QD) was measured by time-resolved
photoluminescence spectroscopy at zero applied magnetic fields. The
experimental results show that the electron-spin relaxation is clearly divided
into two different temperature regimes: (i) T < 50 K, spin relaxation depends
on the dynamical nuclear spin polarization (DNSP) and is approximately
temperature-independent, as predicted by Merkulov et al. (ii) T > about 50 K,
spin relaxation speeds up with increasing temperature. A model of two LO phonon
scattering process coupled with hyperfine interaction is proposed to account
for the accelerated electron spin relaxation at higher temperatures.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figure
