Probing the isospin dependent mean field and nucleon nucleon cross section in the medium by the nucleon emissions
We study the isospin effects of the mean field and two-body collision on the
nucleon emissions at the intermediate energy heavy ion collisions by using an
isospin dependent transport theory. The calculated results show that the
nucleon emission number depends sensitively the isospin effect of
nucleon nucleon cross section and weakly on the isospin dependent mean field
for neutron-poor system in higher beam energy region . In particular, the
correlation between the medium correction of two-body collision and the
momentum dependent interaction enhances the dependence of nucleon emission
number on the isospin effect of nucleon nucleon cross section.
On the contrary, the ratio of the neutron proton ratio of the gas phase to
the neutron proton ratio of the liquid phase, i.e., the degree of isospin
fractionation depends sensitively on the
isospin dependent mean field and weakly on the isospin effect of two-body
collision for neutron-rich system in the lower beam energy region. In this

extracting the information about the isospin dependent nucleon nucleon cross

Isospin relaxation time in heavy-ion collisions at intermediate energies
Using an isospin-dependent transport model, we have studied the isospin and
momentum relaxation times in the heavy residues formed in heavy-ion collisions
at intermediate energies. It is found that only at incident energies below the
Fermi energy, chemical or thermal equilibrium can be reached before dynamical
instability is developed in the heavy residues. Also, the isospin relaxation
time is shorter (longer) than that for momentum at beam energies lower (higher)

Plasmodium vivax malaria reemerged in the Republic of Korea in 1993. The number of cases has tripled each year since, with more than 1,600 cases reported in 1997. All 27 cases in U.S. troops resolved uneventfully with chloroquine/primaquine therapy. Disease is localized along the western Demilitarized Zone and presents minimal risk to tourists
Coulomb effects on growth of instabilities in asymmetric nuclear matter
We study the effects of the Coulomb interaction on the growth of unstable
modes in asymmetric nuclear matter. In order to compare with previous
calculations we use a semiclassical approach based on the linearized Vlasov
equation. Moreover, a quantum calculation is performed within the R.P.A.. The
Coulomb effects are a slowing down of the growth and the occurrence of a
minimal wave vector for the onset of the instabilities. The quantum corrections

Long-term combined treatment with thiazide and potassium citrate in nephrolithiasis does not lead to hypokalemia or hypochloremic metabolic alkalosis.BackgroundPotassium citrate is commonly used in combination with a thiazide diuretic in the medical management of recurrent hypercalciuric nephrolithiasis. However, concerns have been raised that administration of this nonchloride potassium alkali with a kaliuretic and natriuretic agent such as thiazide may not be efficacious in correcting or preventing hypokalemia, and may produce hypochloremic metabolic alkalosis. This retrospective analysis was conducted to determine if these two potential complications are encountered in patients on long-term potassium citrate and thiazide therapy.MethodsData were collected on 95 patients who had been on combination therapy for at least 4 months from the stone clinics of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Duke University Medical Center, and Ochsner Clinic.ResultsMean serum potassium concentration remained within normal limits without a significant decrease during combined therapy. Serum chloride was significantly lower from pretreatment but by only 1 mEq/L and remained within normal limits throughout treatment. There was a small increase in serum bicarbonate concentration compared to the baseline level of less than 1 mEq/L at 8 to 12 and 18 to 24 months, but not at other treatment periods.ConclusionCo-administration of potassium citrate did not induce hypokalemia or hypochloremic metabolic alkalosis in our thiazide-treated patient population
All-optical switching in a two-channel waveguide with cubic-quintic nonlinearity
We consider dynamics of spatial beams in a dual-channel waveguide with
competing cubic and quintic (CQ) nonlinearities. Gradually increasing the power
in the input channel, we identify four different regimes of the pulses coupling
into the cross channel, which alternate three times between full pass and full
stop, thus suggesting three realizations of switching between the channels. As
in the case of the Kerr (solely cubic) nonlinearity, the first two regimes are
the linear one, and one dominated by the self-focusing nonlinearity, with the
beam which, respectively, periodically couples between the channels, or stays
in the input channel. Further increase of the power reveals two novel
transmission regimes, one characterized by balance between the competing
nonlinearities, which again allows full coupling between the channels, and a
final regime dominated by the self-defocusing quintic nonlinearity. In the
latter case, the situation resembles that known for a self-repulsive
Bose-Einstein condensate trapped in a double-well potential, which is
characterized by strong symmetry breaking; accordingly, the beam again abides
in the input channel, contrary to an intuitive expectation that the
self-defocusing nonlinearity would push it into the cross channel. The
numerical results are qualitatively explained by a simple analytical model

Camera for QUasars in EArly uNiverse (CQUEAN)
We describe the overall characteristics and the performance of an optical CCD
camera system, Camera for QUasars in EArly uNiverse (CQUEAN), which is being
used at the 2.1 m Otto Struve Telescope of the McDonald Observatory since 2010
August. CQUEAN was developed for follow-up imaging observations of red sources
such as high redshift quasar candidates (z >= 5), Gamma Ray Bursts, brown
dwarfs, and young stellar objects. For efficient observations of the red
objects, CQUEAN has a science camera with a deep depletion CCD chip which
boasts a higher quantum efficiency at 0.7 - 1.1 um than conventional CCD chips.
The camera was developed in a short time scale (~ one year), and has been
working reliably. By employing an auto-guiding system and a focal reducer to
enhance the field of view on the classical Cassegrain focus, we achieve a
stable guiding in 20 minute exposures, an imaging quality with FWHM >= 0.6"
over the whole field (4.8' * 4.8'), and a limiting magnitude of z = 23.4 AB mag

NNLO phase space master integrals for two-to-one inclusive cross sections in dimensional regularization
We evaluate all phase space master integrals which are required for the total
cross section of generic 2 -> 1 processes at NNLO as a series expansion in the
dimensional regulator epsilon. Away from the limit of threshold production, our
expansion includes one order higher than what has been available in the
literature. At threshold, we provide expressions which are valid to all orders
in terms of Gamma functions and hypergeometric functions. These results are a
necessary ingredient for the renormalization and mass factorization of

A Complete Version of the Glauber Theory for Elementary Atom - Target Atom Scattering and Its Approximations
A general formalism of the Glauber theory for elementary atom (EA) - target
atom (TA) scattering is developed. A second-order approximation of its complete
version is considered in the framework of the optical-model perturbative
approach. A `potential' approximation of a second-order optical model is
formulated neglecting the excitation effects of the TA. Its accuracy is
evaluated within the second-order approximation for the complete version of the
