Static Monopoles and Their Anti-Configurations

Recently, we have reported on the existence of some monopoles, multimonopole, and antimonopoles configurations. In this paper we would like to present more monopoles, multimonopole, and antimonopoles configurations of the magnetic ansatz of Ref.\cite{kn:9} when the parameters $p$ and $b$ of the solutions takes different serial values. These exact solutions are a different kind of BPS solution. They satisfy the first order Bogomol'nyi equation but possess infinite energy. They can have radial, axial, or rotational symmetry about the z-axis. We classified these serial solutions as (i) the multimonopole at the origin; (ii) the finitely separated 1-monopoles; (iii) the screening solutions of multimonopole and (iv) the axially symmetric monopole solutions. We also give a construction of their anti-configurations with all the magnetic charges of poles in the configurations reversed. Half-integer topological magnetic charge multimonopole also exist in some of these series of solutions.Comment: 20 pages with 4 figure

Draft genome sequences of three multiantibiotic-resistant Campylobacter jejuni strains (2865, 2868, and 2871) isolated from poultry at retail outlets in Malaysia

Campylobacter jejuni is a frequent cause of human bacterial gastrointestinal foodborne disease worldwide. Antibiotic resistance in this species is of public health concern. The draft genome sequences of three multiantibiotic-resistant C. jejuni strains (2865, 2868, and 2871) isolated from poultry at retail outlets in Malaysia are presented here

Contact dermatitis following use of tropical traditional medicine

Traditional or herbal medications are generally perceived as safe since it is derived from natural or plant sources. A rise in number of adverse reactions are being reported with the use of traditional medications including localized cutaneous reactions. The diagnosis of contact dermatitis is often quite straight forward based on its appearance, pattern, site and distribution of the lesion which usually corresponds to the area of contact. We report the case of a 65-year-old woman who presented with redness, burning sensation and swelling of her hand after applying topical Chinese traditional medication. This report aims to outline simple measures to identify and manage contact dermatitis secondary to topical medication. The present case creates awareness that topical traditional medications are not as harmless as previously thought to be. Precautions regarding adverse reactions are required, as those with conventional medications

Decoherence of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering

We consider two systems A and B that share Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering correlations and study how these correlations will decay, when each of the systems are independently coupled to a reservoir. EPR steering is a directional form of entanglement, and the measure of steering can change depending on whether the system A is steered by B, or vice versa. First, we examine the decay of the steering correlations of the two-mode squeezed state. We find that if the system B is coupled to a reservoir, then the decoherence of the steering of A by B is particularly marked, to the extent that there is a sudden death of steering after a finite time. We find a different directional effect, if the reservoirs are thermally excited. Second, we study the decoherence of the steering of a Schr\"odinger cat state, modeled as the entangled state of a spin and harmonic oscillator, when the macroscopic system (the cat) is coupled to a reservoir

Half-Monopole and Multimonopole

We would like to present some exact SU(2) Yang-Mills-Higgs monopole solutions of half-integer topological charge. These solutions can be just an isolated half-monopole or a multimonopole with topological magnetic charge, ${1/2}m$, where $m$ is a natural number. These static monopole solutions satisfy the first order Bogomol'nyi equations. The axially symmetric one-half monopole gauge potentials possess a Dirac-like string singularity along the negative z-axis.
