Light-Driven Hydrogen Production from Aqueous Solutions Based on a New Dubois-Type Nickel Catalyst

In this work, we report a new photocatalytic system that links multifunctional semiconductor nanocrystals with emerging water-soluble molecular catalysts made of earth-abundant elements for H2 generation [Ni(P2RN2R′)2(BF4)2]4−, R = Ph, R′ = [PhSO3]− (NiS). This noble metal free hybrid exhibits remarkable catalytic activity with a turnover number of 511 for H2 production and a photon-to-H2 conversion efficiency of 12.5%. The mechanistic insight into such high efficiency in this photocatalytic system was examined using a combination of steady-state emission and time-resolved absorption spectroscopy

On the Genus Expansion in the Topological String Theory

A systematic formulation of the higher genus expansion in topological string theory is considered. We also develop a simple way of evaluating genus zero correlation functions. At higher genera we derive some interesting formulas for the free energy in the $A_1$ and $A_2$ models. We present some evidence that topological minimal models associated with Lie algebras other than the A-D-E type do not have a consistent higher genus expansion beyond genus one. Topological Field Theories and the Period Integrals

We discuss topological Landau-Ginzburg theories coupled to the 2-dimensional topological gravity. We point out that the basic recursion relations for correlation functions of the 2-dimesional gravity have exactly the same form as the Gauss-Manin differential equations for the period integrals of superpotentials. Thus the one-point functions on the sphere of the Landau-Ginzburg theories are given exactly by the period integrals. Edge and bulk merons in double quantum dots with spontaneous interlayer phase coherence

We have investigated nucleation of merons in double quantum dots when a lateral distortion with a reflection symmetry is present in the confinement potential. We find that merons can nucleate both inside and at the edge of the dots. In addition to these merons, our results show that electron density modulations can be also present inside the dots.
