A generalized correlation for hold-up of dispersed phase in packed liquid extraction columns has been derived and used to correlate the data of the present investigation in 2 in. column along with the reported data in 3 in. to 12 in. columns for a wide variety of liquid systems using different sizes of Raschig rings, Berl Saddles and Lessing rings
