    FORMULATION DEVELOPMENT AND CHARACTERIZATION OF GELUCIRE BEADS OF ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUG FOR FLOATING DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM USING 32 FACTORIAL DESIGNS

    Objective: The aim of this study was to design and to optimize lipid based beads for multiunit floating drug delivery of ramipril. Methods: The beads prepared by melt-solidification method. In the investigation 32 full factorial design was used to investigate the joint influence of two formulation variable amount of Gelucire (X1) and Tween 20 (X2) as independent variable and the percentage drug release in 1 (Y1), 6 (Y2), and 12 h (Y3) as dependent variable. Gelucire 43/01 has chosen for release retardant and Tween 20 for solubility enhancement and drug loading agent. Results: The results of multiple linear regression analysis indicated that for obtain a floating drug delivery, the optimum concentrations of both the lipid and drug loading agent should be used. The factorial models were used to prepare optimized floating beads and optimized formulations showed controlled release profiles for the extended period of more than 12 h. Conclusion: From the study, it was concluded that beads of Gelucire for sparingly water-soluble drug ramipril can provide controlled release for extended period

    We present a comprehensive framework for treating the nonlinear interaction of few-cycle pulses using an envelope description that goes beyond the traditional SVEA method. This is applied to a range of simulations that demonstrate how the effect of a χ(2)\chi^{(2)} nonlinearity differs between the many-cycle and few-cycle cases. Our approach, which includes diffraction, dispersion, multiple fields, and a wide range of nonlinearities, builds upon the work of Brabec and Krausz[1] and Porras[2]. No approximations are made until the final stage when a particular problem is considered. The original version (v1) of this arXiv paper is close to the published Phys.Rev.A. version, and much smaller in size.Comment: 9 pages, 14 figure

    Comparative evaluation of two different fiber-reinforced composite materials in class 1 post-endodontic restorations in molars—a randomized clinical study

    This study aimed to evaluate and compare two different fiber-reinforced composite materials in class I post-endodontic restoration in molars. A total of 50 patients were randomly assigned into two groups (n = 25 for each group); group A: everX Posterior (packable composite) with a top layer of solareX (nano-hybrid composite) and group B: everX Flow (flowable composite) with a top layer of G-aenial universal injectable (flowable composite). Patients were evaluated immediately after the procedure (baseline), at 6 months, and at 1 year time intervals based on the modified USPHS criteria. The statistical analysis using a chi-square test showed no statistically significant difference in the clinical performance of group A and group B. Clinical performance of the combination of everX Flow with overlying G-aenial universal injectable composite proved to be comparable with everX Posterior with overlying solareX composite as post-endodontic restorations in class I lesions in permanent molars

    Second-Harmonic Generation in Silicon Nitride Ring Resonators

    The emerging field of silicon photonics seeks to unify the high bandwidth of optical communications with CMOS microelectronic circuits. Many components have been demonstrated for on-chip optical communications, including those that utilize the nonlinear optical properties of silicon[1, 2], silicon dioxide[3, 4] and silicon nitride[5, 6]. Processes such as second harmonic generation, which are enabled by the second-order susceptibility, have not been developed since the bulk χ(2)\chi^{(2)} vanishes in these centrosymmetric CMOS materials. Generating the lowest-order nonlinearity would open the window to a new array of CMOS-compatible optical devices capable of nonlinear functionalities not achievable with the?χ(3)\chi^{(3)} response such as electro-optic modulation, sum frequency up-conversion, and difference frequency generation. Here we demonstrate second harmonic (SH) generation in CMOS compatible integrated silicon nitride (Si3N4) waveguides. The χ(2)\chi^{(2)} response is induced in the centrosymmetric material by using the nanoscale structure to break the bulk symmetry. We use a high quality factor Q ring resonator cavity to enhance the efficiency of the nonlinear optical process and detect SH output with milliwatt input powers.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure

    X-wave mediated instability of plane waves in Kerr media

    Plane waves in Kerr media spontaneously generate paraxial X-waves (i.e. non-dispersive and non-diffractive pulsed beams) that get amplified along propagation. This effect can be considered a form of conical emission (i.e. spatio-temporal modulational instability), and can be used as a key for the interpretation of the out of axis energy emission in the splitting process of focused pulses in normally dispersive materials. A new class of spatio-temporal localized wave patterns is identified. X-waves instability, and nonlinear X-waves, are also expected in periodical Bose condensed gases.Comment: 4 pages, 6 figure
