Offender mental health is a major societal challenge. Improved collaboration between mental health and criminal justice services is required to address these challenges. This paper explores the potential social innovation as a concept that offers an alternative perspective on collaborations between these services and a framework to develop theoretically informed strategies to optimize interorganizational working. Two key innovation frameworks are applied to the offender mental health field and practice illustrations provided of where new innovations in collaboration, and specifically cocreation between the mental health system and criminal justice system, take place. The paper recommends the development of a competency framework for leaders and front line staff in the mental health system and criminal justice systems to raise awareness and skills in the innovation process, especially through cocreation across professional and organizational boundaries

DynaCT during EVAR – A Comparison with Multidetector CT

AbstractObjectivesWe have explored the usefulness of an on-table, cross-sectional radiological imaging (DynaCT) in endovascular aortic repair (EVAR). DynaCT images were compared to images from a regular multidetector (16 slice) CT. In the comparison, we tested the accordance of firstly 5 relevant clinical measurements and secondly the visibility of 9 anatomical areas in the two different types of images. This imaging was carried out in addition to the usual angiographic imaging.Design, material and method20 patients with infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) were prospectively enrolled in the study. We compared Images from DynaCT with two different doses of contrast medium to MDCT-images in two different ways. Firstly relevant arterial diameters and lengths and secondly, 9 anatomical areas were evaluated regarding visibility which was scored on a 4-point scale.ResultsThere were no significant differences in the measured arterial diameters and lengths. MDCT had a significantly higher visibility score than both DynaCT investigations. However, with the highest contrast medium dose we found acceptable diagnostic quality in 78–94% of the cases for 8 of the 9 investigated anatomical areas.ConclusionOur findings indicate that on-table DynaCT are of sufficient quality to give relevant information of arterial measurements, needed in endovascular repair of infrarenal aortic aneurysms

Microcanonical entropies and radiative strength functions of 50,51^{50,51}V

The level densities and radiative strength functions (RSFs) of 50,51^{50,51}V have been extracted using the (3^3He,αγ\alpha \gamma) and (3^3He,3^3Heâ€ČÎł^{\prime} \gamma) reactions, respectively. From the level densities, microcanonical entropies are deduced. The high Îł\gamma-energy part of the RSF is described by the giant electric dipole resonance. A significant enhancement over the predicted strength in the region of EÎłâ‰Č3E_{\gamma} \lesssim 3 MeV is seen, which at present has no theoretical explanation.Comment: 16 pages including 9 figure

Observation of Thermodynamical Properties in the 162^{162}Dy, 166^{166}Er and 172^{172}Yb Nuclei

The density of accessible levels in the (3^3He,αγ\alpha \gamma) reaction has been extracted for the 162^{162}Dy, 166^{166}Er and 172^{172}Yb nuclei. The nuclear temperature is measured as a function of excitation energy in the region of 0 -- 6 MeV. The temperature curves reveal structures indicating new degrees of freedom. The heat capacity of the nuclear system is discussed within the framework of a canonical ensemble.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures include

Wobbling Motion in Atomic Nuclei with Positive-Gamma Shapes

The three moments of inertia associated with the wobbling mode built on the superdeformed states in 163Lu are investigated by means of the cranked shell model plus random phase approximation to the configuration with an aligned quasiparticle. The result indicates that it is crucial to take into account the direct contribution to the moments of inertia from the aligned quasiparticle so as to realize J_x > J_y in positive-gamma shapes. Quenching of the pairing gap cooperates with the alignment effect. The peculiarity of the recently observed 163Lu data is discussed by calculating not only the electromagnetic properties but also the excitation spectra.Comment: 11 pages, 6 figure

Critical temperature for quenching of pair correlations

The level density at low spin in the 161,162-Dy and 171,172-Yb nuclei has been extracted from primary gamma rays. The nuclear heat capacity is deduced within the framework of the canonical ensemble. The heat capacity exhibits an S-formed shape as a function of temperature, which is interpreted as a fingerprint of the phase transition from a strongly correlated to an uncorrelated phase. The critical temperature for the quenching of pair correlations is found at Tc=0.50(4) MeV.Comment: 8 pages including 4 figures, different method to extract Tc, different figures, text partly rewritte
