Bioecology and control of bean weevil (Acanthoscelides obtectus Say.)
The paper presents the results of experimental studies
on the evolution of bean weevil (Acanthoscelides obtectus Say. (Coleoptera
– Bruchidae) and the duration of development stages in this species,
according to air temperature, rainfall and phenological phases of beans
varieties Magna, Star and Avans, during 6 years (1994-1999), at the
Agricultural Research Station of Podu-Iloaiei, Iaşi County. The pest
developed a field generation and 2-3 generations in storehouses, after
beans harvesting. It infested bean crops during floral button formation. Egg
laying period coincided with grain formation in pods. The bean weevil was
controlled by fumigation in storehouses and by tested and homologated
insecticides in the field
Behaviour of grains pea and field pea lines and varieties to the attack caused by Bruchus pisorum L., at the Agricultural Research Station of Podu-Iloaiei, Iasi County
Investigations conducted at the Agricultural Research
Station of Podu-Iloaiei (1993-1999) have studied the behaviour of grains
pea lines and varieties to the attack of pea beetle (Bruchus pisorum L.),
which varied between 15.8% and 27.7%. The attack was weak (15.8%-
19.6%) in eight lines and varieties. In field pea lines and varieties, the
attack has registered values between 12.5% and 29%, weak attacks being
signaled in five lines and varieties (12.5%-17.5%). Climatic factors
(temperature and rainfall) and soil management works (sowing period,
early harvesting in pea crops and gas treatments with Ultraphos, sulphur,
carbon disulphide, etc., before or immediately after storing), diminished the
hibernating adult populations during the growth season, under the limit of
damaging limit. Pea lines and varieties with weak attacks in grains,
produced by Bruchus pisorum L. were recommended for homologation and
extension into production
The behaviour of the Oana maize hybrid to the attack of pathogenic agents, by using chemically treated seed, at the Agricultural Research and Development Station of Podu-Iloaiei, Iaşi county
The results of experimental investigations, conducted during 2001-2003 at the
Agricultural Research and Development Station of Podu-Iloaiei, on the behavior of the Oana
maize hybrid, treated with insectofungicides, for the prevention and diminution of the attack of
pests and pathogens during plant sprouting and vegetation, have shown that the products used
for seed treatment, before sowing, ensured a good plant germination, sprouting and
development. The attack of Agriotes spp. was much diminished in the variants treated with
insecticides (F%=0-0.6) and in the ones where insectofungicides were used (F%=0-0.7). At
the fungicide-treated variant, the attack was greater (5.4%-7.4%). Under conditions of using
insectofungicides, the attack of pathogenic agents (Drechslera turcica and Gibberella roseum)
has registered the lowest values (F%=1.1, respectively, 2.4)
The behaviour of some native and foreign maize hybrids to the attack of pests and pathogenic agents, under conditions of chemically treated seed
The paper presents the results of experimental studies conducted in 2003 at the
Agricultural Research and Development Station of Podu-Iloaiei, Iaşi County, on the behaviour
of some native and foreign maize hybrids, to the attack of pathogenic agents and pests, under
conditions of using untreated and chemically treated seed. A good resistance to the attack of
pathogenic agents was found in hybrids Turda 198 and Turda 200, with a very good sprouting
(F=93%) and a good resistance to the attack of pests. From the foreign maize hybrids with
treated seeds, the Pelican hybrid has shown a good sprouting and a high resistance to the
attack of diseases and pests. The comparative analysis of the behaviour of native and foreign
maize hybrids to the attack of pests and pathogenic agents has shown a better sprouting
(80.75%) in the 10 native hybrids, compared to the eight foreign hybrids (68.62%), an
efficiency of seed treatment with higher values in native hybrids, and the diminution of the pest
and pathogen attack (Gibberella fujikuroi, Sorosporium holci-sorghi, Ustilago maydis,
Agriotes spp.,and Ostrinia nubilalis)
Spreading of pests and diseases in Moldavia, in the crop year 2006 – 2007
The paper presents the evolution of the pathogenic agents and pests from crops
under the direct influence of the climate conditions registered between 2006 and 2007 in the
central area of Moldavia. We presented the frequency of the attack for the main pathogenic
agents and pests, as well as the measures applied by the Plant Protection Centres in order to
diminish the casualties. The paper is useful to the engineers and practicians for elaborating
long-term estimates on the appearance of the pathogenic agents and pests and for establishing
the best period of sending the treatment alert
Spreading of crop pests and diseases in Moldavia, during 2001-2005
The work presents the evolution of pathogenic agents
and pests from crops, under the direct influence of climatic conditions,
registered during 2001-2005, in the region of Moldavia. We showed the
frequency of the attack of main pests and pathogenic agents, as well as the
measures taken by Phytosanitary Units for limiting the damages. This paper
is useful to engineers and practitioners, for elaborating a long-term
prognosis on the appearance of pests and pathogenic agents and for
establishing the optimum moment of warning for treatments
