Learning and Applying Cooperative Solutions: A Classroom Experiment on Transportation Games
In a trade experiment, groups of students were taught how to bargain over a pie generated in a transportation game. Data collection and detailed group reports of the bargaining process allowed us to identify the type of bargaining followed and its correspondence with cooperative game theory concepts. Explicit coalitions were rather scarce (17%), although coalition stability was implied by 47.8% of the agreements. Efficiency was achieved in the vast majority (82%) of cases, whereas in 34.8% of the agreements, students used a lexicographic ordering of multiple solutions before choosing among them. Regarding the bargaining procedure, in 40% of the agreements, quantities traded were decided before profit sharing rules were negotiated, whereas in 16% of the cases they were simultaneously agreed upon. Our findings suggest that bargaining procedures often do not imply explicit coalitions. Moreover, efficiency can be achieved even in the absence of bargaining processes
Integer Linear Programming Optimization of Joint RRM Policies for Heterogeneous Wireless Systems
Wireless systems will be characterized by the coexistence of heterogeneous Radio
Access Technologies (RATs) with different, but also complementary, performance and technical
characteristics. These heterogeneous wireless networks will provide network operators the
possibility to efficiently and coordinately use the heterogeneous radio resources, for which novel
Joint Radio Resource Management (JRRM) policies need to be designed. In this context, this work
proposes and evaluates a JRRM policy that simultaneously determines for each user an adequate
combination of RAT and number of radio resources within such RAT to guarantee the user/service
QoS requirements, and efficiently distribute the radio resources considering a user fairness
approach aimed at maximizing the system capacity. To this aim, the JRRM algorithm, which takes
into account the discrete nature of radio resources, is based on integer linear programming
optimization mechanisms
Multi-issue bankruptcy problems with crossed claims
In this paper, we introduce a novel model of multi-issue bankruptcy problem inspired from a
real problem of abatement of emissions of different pollutants in which pollutants can have
more than one effect on atmosphere. In our model, therefore, several perfectly divisible goods
(estates) have to be allocated among certain set of agents (claimants) that have exactly one
claim which is used in all estates simultaneously. In other words, unlike of the multi-issue
bankruptcy problems already existent in the literature, this model study situations with multi-
dimensional states, one for each issue and where each agent claims the same to the different
issues in which participates. In this context, we present an allocation rule that generalizes
the well-known constrained equal awards rule from a procedure derived from analyzing this
rule for classical bankruptcy problems as the solution to a sucession of linear programming
problems. Next, we carry out an study of its main properties, and we characterize it using
the well-known property of consistency
On priority in multi-issue bankruptcy problems with crossed claims
In this paper, we analyze the problem of how to adapt the concept of priority
to situations where several perfectly divisible resources have to be allocated
among certain set of agents that have exactly one claim which is used for all
resources. In particular, we introduce constrained sequential priority rules
and two constrained random arrival rules, which extend the classical sequential
priority rules and the random arrival rule to these situations. Moreover, we
provide an axiomatic analysis of these rules.Comment: 12 pages. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with

Measures of relevance to the success of streaming platforms
Digital streaming platforms, including Twitch, Spotify, Netflix, Disney, and
Kindle, have emerged as one of the main sources of entertainment with
significant growth potential. Many of these platforms distribute royalties
among streamers, artists, producers, or writers based on their impact. In this
paper, we measure the relevance of each of these contributors to the overall
success of the platform, which is information that can play a key role in
revenue allocation. We perform an axiomatic analysis to provide normative
foundations for three relevance metrics: the uniform, the proportional, and the
subscriber-proportional indicators. The last two indicators implement the
so-called pro-rata and user-centric models, which are extensively applied to
distribute revenues in the music streaming market. The axioms we propose
formalize different principles of fairness, stability, and non-manipulability,
and are tailor-made for the streaming context. We complete our analysis with a
case study that measures the influence of the 19 most-followed streamers
worldwide on the Twitch platform
On the Difficulty of Budget Allocation in Claims Problems with Indivisible Items and Prices
First of all, the authors thank the Associate Editor and three anonymous Reviewers for their time to review our paper and also for their for their incisive comments and suggestions which have been very helpful to improve the contents of the paper. is perfectly divisible and claims are made on indivisible units of several items. Each
item has a price, and the available amount falls short to be able to cover all the
claims at the given prices. We propose several properties that may be of interest in
this particular framework. These properties represent the common principles of fairness,
efficiency, and non-manipulability by merging or splitting. Efficiency is our
focal principle, which is formalized by means of two axioms: non-wastefulness and
Pareto efficiency. We show that some combinations of the properties we consider are
compatible, others are not.Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovacion y Universidades (MCIU)Agencia Estatal de Investigacion (AEI)European Commission PGC2018-097965-B-I00Spanish Government ECO2017-86245-PJunta de Andalucia PAIDI SEJ426

However, the port selection carried out from the Spanish provinces to channel their flows of containers remains stable, what suggests that it has not responded to the competitive strategies developed by the managers of the biggest peninsular ports, whose result seems to be related with their respective location
On horizontal cooperation in linear production processes with a supplier that controls a limited resource
In this paper we consider a two-echelon supply chain with one supplier that controls a limited resource and a finite set of manufacturers who need to purchase this resource. We analyze the effect of the limited resource on the horizontal cooperation of manufacturers. To this end, we use cooperative game theory and the existence of stable distributions of the total profit among the manufacturers as a measure of the possibilities of cooperation. The game theoretical model that describes the horizontal cooperation involves externalities, which arise because of the possible scarcity of the limited resource and the possible coalition structures that can be formed. Furthermore, manufacturers do not know how the supplier will allocate the limited resource, therefore, how much of this resource they will obtain is uncertain for all concerned. Nevertheless, when the limited resource is not scarce for the grand coalition, the existence of stable distributions of the total profit is guaranteed and consequently the collaboration among the manufacturers is profitable for them all. In the event that the limited resource is insufficient for the grand coalition, we introduce a new cooperative game that assesses the expectations of each coalition of manufacturers regarding the amount of the limited resource they can obtain. We analyze two extreme expectations: the optimistic and the pessimistic. In the optimistic case, we cannot reach a conclusion regarding the full cooperation of the manufacturers. In the pessimistic case, with one reasonable assumption, the existence of stable distributions of the total profit is guaranteed and as a result the collaboration among manufacturers is a win–win deal.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad | Ref. Bankruptcy-based Radio Resource Management for Multimedia Mobile Networks
The transmission of bandwidth
demanding multimedia applications in capacity
constrained mobile radio networks requires
optimizing the usage and assignment of radio
resources following the varying Quality of Service

bankruptcy theory to deal with situations where the
demand for resources is higher than its availability,
this work proposes the application of bankruptcy
theories to design efficient radio resource
management policies that provide the highest
possible QoS levels while guaranteeing user fairnes
