The effect of schizotypy on spatial learning in an environment with a distinctive shape
In two experiments, participants completed the Oxford-Liverpool Inventory of Feelings and Experiences measuring schizotypal traits across four dimensions (unusual experiences, cognitive disorganization, introvertive anhedonia, and impulsive non-conformity). They then took part in a virtual navigation task where they were required to learn about the position of a hidden goal with reference to geometric cues of a rectangular arena or rely on colored wall panels to find the hidden goal in a square-shaped arena. Unusual experience and cognitive disorganization were significant predictors of the use of geometric cues, but no significant predictors were found for the use of wall panels. Implications to hippocampal function and the clinical domain are considered

Assessment of antierosion efficiency of biological construction made after innudation in the 2005 year on the basin of Wielka Puszcza stream
Niszcząca działalność powodziowych przepływów rzek i potoków
brak odpowiedniej zabudowy biologicznej. Powódź, która na potoku
Wielka Puszcza wystąpiła w roku 2005 i dokonała licznych zniszczeń,
pozwoliła też autorom na przeprowadzenie weryfikacji
skuteczności przeciwerozyjnej występującej zabudowy biologicznej
omawianego potoku.
Stwierdzono m.in., że największe zniszczenia spowodowane
biologiczną tworzyły drzewa leśne, a mianowicie: świerk, jodła, buk,
potoków i rzek górskich najbardziej odpowiednie.
Analiza szkód powodziowych spowodowanych występowaniem na
terenie zlewni potoku Wielka Puszcza w dniu 23.08.2005 katastrofalnego
Wielkiej Puszczy prawie o 2 m i poszerzenie średnio o 4 m.
stromych zboczach i stokach nastąpiły pokaźnych rozmiarów osuwiska
nawet na terenach porosłych lasami. Zaszutrowany rumoszem kamienistym
metrów droga asfaltowa i most drogowy. Treścią opracowania są opisy
dokonanych zniszczeń powodziowych. The cathastrofical grand rainfall, which appeared on 2.08.2005 year in the
amount of 70 l/m2 caused innudation in the basin of the Wielka Puszcza stream. The
high flows caused numerous damages, for example: depresson of river bed bottom
from 1 to 2m and broaden about 2–4 m. In many places the river banks, asphalt road,
bridge and numerous trees were destroyed.
After the innudation the assessment of destructions and also the biological construction
in the river banks protection before the flows were made. It was found that,
at the good biological construction of river banks there is not erosion. The best plant
species for the biological construction are: Alnus incana, Salix alna, S. fragilis, S.
viminalis, S. purpurea and other willow. If there are in biological construction the big
flows don`t devastate the banks. Unadequate to biological construction are the forest
trees for example Picea excelsa because they do not protect the river banks against
the big flows.
Assessment of damages made by big outflow for example: channel deepening
and enlargement, reservoir sedimentation and damages of river banks by stones. The
trees which were uprooted by big water created in some places water falls, and at its
deep holes in the bottom of river bed. Flood damages concerned also asphalt road and
bridge. On the steep slopes landslides were created even in forests. In the paper there
is more detail description of all losses made by inundation on the Wielka Puszcza
river basin
Damages of the Wielka Puszcza stream channel below the dam as a result of disastrous rain
Procesy erozyjne, oprócz niszczenia wierzchniej warstwy gleby,
oddziałują na morfologię i hydrologię rzek. Niszczenie wierzchniej warstwy
gleby zmniejsza retencje zlewni, co zwiększa spływy powierzchniowe
i zwiększenie przepływów powodziowych a zmniejszenie niżówek.
dwóch dzielnic przyrodniczo-leśnych: Podkarpacia Właściwego i Beskidu
Małego, które należą do krainy karpackiej. Powierzchnia jej wynosi
19,30 km2. Gęstość sieci hydrograficznej wynosi 1,60 km⋅km-2, stoczystość
0,3102. Średnia wysokość to 507,5 m npm. Zlewnia ma stopień
lesistości 81,65%, a wskaźnik rozwinięcia lesistości 0,87. W badanej
zlewni przeważają spadki o nachyleniu powyżej 30% (62,1%) oraz
20–30% (20,7%). Brak jest spadków o nachyleniu 0–3%. Średni spadek
powierzchni zlewni Soły wynosi 25,47%. W użytkowaniu zlewni przeważają
lasy (81,65%). Gruntów ornych jest 16,54%, a użytków zielonych
1,81%. Zamieszczono przekroje poprzeczne koryta i krzywe natężenia
przepływu dla sytuacji przed i po powodzi. Katastrofalne przepływy
spowodowały znaczne zwiększenie powierzchni przekroju poprzecznego,
obniżenie dna koryta o około 0,5 m. Nastąpiła zmiana kształtu krzywej
natężenia przepływu.Erosion processes apart from distruction of upper layer of soil, influences morphology
and hydrology of streams. Devastation of upper soil layer decreases basin
retention what increases surface runoff, flood discharges and decreases low flows.
Particularly bad damages in mountains basins are caused by heavy rains that have
local extent but are very violent. The Wielka Puszcza basin is located on two natural
regions: Podkarpacie Właściwe and Beskid Mały that belong to the Karpaty district.
The basin area amounts 19,30 km2. Density of hydrographical network is 1,60
km⋅km-2, slope index 0,3102. Mean height attaines 507,5 m npm. The basin has forestry
degree 81,65%, and indicator of forestry development 0,87. In the investigated
basin prevail slopes above 30% (62,1%) and 20-30% (20,7%). It is lack of slopes of 0-
3%. The mean slope of the basin is 25,47%. In land use prevail forests (81,65%).
There is 16,54% of arable lands, and grasslands cover 1,81% of the area. The cross
sections of the channel and discharge intensity curves before flood and after flood
that took place on 28 August 2005 were presented. Disasterous flows caused significant
cross section area, lowering channel bottom of about 0,5 m. The change of flow
intensity curve took place either
Herbicidal derivatives of aminomethylenebisphosphonic acid. Part III. Structure-activity relationship.
Derivatives of aminomethylenebisphosphonic acids constitute a class of promising herbicides. More than 40 N-substituted aminomethylenephosphonic acids were synthesized and evaluated for their herbicidal activity on common cress (Lepidium sativum L.) and cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.). Some of the tested compounds were found to exhibit strong herbicidal properties being equal in activity with the popular herbicide glyphosate as well as parent N-pyridylaminomethylenephosphonic acids. N-Substituted iminodi(methylenephosphonic) acids, which may be considered as close analog of glyphosate, were inactive toward test plants
Distribution of tumor-infiltrating-T-lymphocytes and possible tumor-escape mechanisms avoiding immune cell attack in locally advanced adenocarcinomas of the esophagus
Introduction The inflammatory microenvironment has emerged as one of the focuses of cancer research. Little is known about the immune environment in esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) and possible tumor-escape mechanisms to avoid immune cell attack. Patients and methods We measured T cell inflammation (CD3, CD8) in the microenvironment using a standardized software-based evaluation algorithm considering different predefined tumor areas as well as expression of MHC class 1 and PD-L1 on 75 analyzable primarily resected and locally advanced (>= pT2) EACs. We correlated these findings statistically with clinical data. Results Patients with high amounts of T cell infiltration in their tumor center showed a significant survival benefit of 41.4 months compared to 16.3 months in T cell poor tumors (p = 0.025), although CD3 fails to serve as an independent prognostic marker in multivariate analysis. For the invasion zone, a correlation between number of T-cells and overall survival was not detectable. Loss of MHC1 protein expression on tumor cells was seen in 32% and PD-L1 expression using the combined positive score (CPS) in 21.2%. Most likely due to small numbers of cases, both markers are not prognostically relevant, even though PD-L1 expression correlates with advanced tumor stages. Discussion Our analyses reveal an outstanding, though not statistically independent, prognostic relevance of T-cell-rich inflammation in our group of EACs, in particular driven by the tumor center. For the first time, we describe that the inner part of the invasion zone in EACs shows significantly fewer T-cells than other tumor segments and is prognostically irrelevant. We also demonstrate that the loss of antigen presenting ability via MHC1 downregulation by the carcinoma cells is a common escape mechanism in EACs. Future work will need to show whether tumors with MHC class 1 loss respond less well to immunotherapy
