Archaeological evidence for historical navigation on the Mureş (Maros) river. Enquiries based on a medieval boat imprint from Bizere abbey (Romania)
The boat imprint unearthed at the site of the Benedictine abbey from Bizere (Frumuşeni, Romania) is a unique discovery for two reasons: its preservation as a negative imprint, due to its reuse for preparing mortar, and its dating back to the 12th century, based on the context of its discovery. It has been identified as a logboat, due to the absence of any technical details specific for plank boats, and now stands as the only vessel of this type with known dating for the territory of Romania. The article also enquires into the wider historical context of the discovery, thus bringing forth the archival data available with regard to medieval inland navigation
Anatomic variation of alveolar antral artery
The alveolar antral artery (AAA) was unanimously encountered in a few available studies with an intraosseous course to anastomose with the infraorbital artery. We report here two cases in which dissection revealed an extraosseous placement of this artery, between the lateral wall of the maxillary sinus and the Schneiderian membrane. The frequency of occurrence of the intraosseous anastomosis should be so modified from 100% to < 100%. This arterial course over the Schneiderian membrane is important during surgical procedures: if it is identified preoperatively it can be avoided, or ligaturated, if not, it may be accidentally severed and uncomfortable haemorrhage may disturb the surgical procedure. In the first case reported here hybrid morphology of the AAA was also found, demonstrating that arterial anatomy should be considered with caution, on a case-by-case basis
Magnetic Order in the 2D Heavy-Fermion System CePt2In7 studied by muSR
The low-temperature microscopic magnetic properties of the quasi-2D
heavyfermion compound, CePt2In7 are investigated by using a positive muon-spin
rotation and relaxation (?muSR) technique. Clear evidence for the formation of
a commensurate antiferromagnetic order below TN=5.40 K is presented. The
magnetic order parameter is shown to fit well to a modified BSC gap-energy

THE CONFLUENCE RATIO OF THE TRANSYLVANIAN BASIN RIVERS
There are many possibilities to assess the hydrological and geomorphological evolution of a territory. Among them, one remarks the confluence ratio of the rivers belonging to different catchment areas. The values of this indicator may provide information regarding the stage of evolution of the fluvial landforms in the Transylvanian Basin. Also, the values may serve for the calculation of other parameters of catchment areas like: the degree of finishing of the drainage basin for its corresponding order, the density of river segments within a catchment area etc. To calculate the confluence ratio, 35 catchment areas of different orders have been selected. The confluence ratio varies between 3.04 and 6.07. The large range of values demonstrates the existence of a heterogeneous lithology and of morphological and hydrographical contrasts from one catchment area to the other. The existence of values above 5, correlated also with observations in the field, reveals an accelerated dynamics of the geomorphological processes in those catchment areas. This dynamic is mainly supported by the high landform fragmentation due to the first order rivers. In contrast, the catchment areas that have a confluence ratio below 5 are in a more advanced stage of evolution with stable slopes, unable to initiate new first order river segments
