Perturbed Defects and T-Systems in Conformal Field Theory
Defect lines in conformal field theory can be perturbed by chiral defect
fields. If the unperturbed defects satisfy su(2)-type fusion rules, the
operators associated to the perturbed defects are shown to obey functional
relations known from the study of integrable models as T-systems. The procedure

Height variables in the Abelian sandpile model: scaling fields and correlations
We compute the lattice 1-site probabilities, on the upper half-plane, of the
four height variables in the two-dimensional Abelian sandpile model. We find
their exact scaling form when the insertion point is far from the boundary, and
when the boundary is either open or closed. Comparing with the predictions of a
logarithmic conformal theory with central charge c=-2, we find a full
compatibility with the following field assignments: the heights 2, 3 and 4
behave like (an unusual realization of) the logarithmic partner of a primary
field with scaling dimension 2, the primary field itself being associated with
the height 1 variable. Finite size corrections are also computed and
successfully compared with numerical simulations. Relying on these field
assignments, we formulate a conjecture for the scaling form of the lattice
2-point correlations of the height variables on the plane, which remain as yet
unknown. The way conformal invariance is realized in this system points to a

On the crossing relation in the presence of defects
The OPE of local operators in the presence of defect lines is considered both
in the rational CFT and the Virasoro (Liouville) theory. The duality
transformation of the 4-point function with inserted defect operators is
explicitly computed. The two channels of the correlator reproduce the
expectation values of the Wilson and 't Hooft operators, recently discussed in

Time Resolved Experiments at the Frankfurt 14 GHz ECR Ion Source
To investigate the basic production processes of highly charged ions and combined phenomena of an ECRIS plasma (e. g. influence of secondary electrons and plasma instabilities) time resolved experiments have been carried out at the Frankfurt 14 GHz ECRIS [1] (see also the contributions to this workshop by O. Hohn et al. and V. Mironov et al.). We report time resolved measurements of the extracted ion currents by pulsing the biased disk voltage [2]. The measurements have shown that the extracted ion currents respond too fast to explain the "biased disk effect" (i. e. the intensity increase of highly charged ions) by enhanced ion breeding. Furthermore the influence of the pulsed biased disk on plasma instabilities has been investigated. It has also been shown that this method can be used to extract pulsed ion beams from an ECRIS
Rigidity and defect actions in Landau-Ginzburg models
Studying two-dimensional field theories in the presence of defect lines
naturally gives rise to monoidal categories: their objects are the different
(topological) defect conditions, their morphisms are junction fields, and their
tensor product describes the fusion of defects. These categories should be
equipped with a duality operation corresponding to reversing the orientation of
the defect line, providing a rigid and pivotal structure. We make this
structure explicit in topological Landau-Ginzburg models with potential x^d,
where defects are described by matrix factorisations of x^d-y^d. The duality
allows to compute an action of defects on bulk fields, which we compare to the
corresponding N=2 conformal field theories. We find that the two actions differ

From boundary to bulk in logarithmic CFT
The analogue of the charge-conjugation modular invariant for rational
logarithmic conformal field theories is constructed. This is done by
reconstructing the bulk spectrum from a simple boundary condition (the analogue
of the Cardy `identity brane'). We apply the general method to the c_1,p
triplet models and reproduce the previously known bulk theory for p=2 at c=-2.
For general p we verify that the resulting partition functions are modular
invariant. We also construct the complete set of 2p boundary states, and
confirm that the identity brane from which we started indeed exists. As a
by-product we obtain a logarithmic version of the Verlinde formula for the

Status of the Frankfurt 14 GHz-ECRIS-(ve)RFQ Facility
The accelerator facility installed at the Institut fuer Kernphysik (IKF) combines a 14 GHz electron cyclotron resonance ion source (ECRIS) and a variable energy radio frequency quadrupole accelerator (ve-RFQ)[1,2]. The provided highly charged ions have an energy range between a few keV - using the beam delivered from the source - up to 200 keV/u by using the post acceleration of the ve-RFQ. The setup is designed to deliver a wide spectrum of ions in sufficiently high charged states for atomic physics and materials research. Besides this the ion source is used for studies of the production of highly charged ions with the intention to improve quality and intensity of ion beams. In addition to these activities there are some special topics which deal with the investigation of phenomena on the ECRIS plasma and the production of metal ions by laser ablation technique (see also contributions to this workshop S. Runkel et al. And V. Mironov et. al). The present status and further activities of the facility and a view of the different projects will be reported
Fibromatosis of the Plantar Fascia: Diagnosis and Indications For Surgical Treatment
Plantar fibromatosis is a rare, benign lesion involving the plantar aponeurosis. Eleven patients (13 feet) underwent 24 operations, including local excision, wide excision, or complete plantar fasciectomy. Clinical results were evaluated retrospectively. There were no differences among the subgroups in postoperative complications. Two primary fasciectomies did not recur. Three of six revised fasciectomies, seven of nine wide excisions, and six of seven local excisions recurred. Our results indicate that recurrence of plantar fibromatosis after surgical resection can be reduced by aggressive initial surgical resection
Synoptic sampling and principal components analysis to identify sources of water and metals to an acid mine drainage stream
Combining the synoptic mass balance approach with principal components analysis (PCA) can be an effective method for discretising the chemistry of inflows and source areas in watersheds where contamination is diffuse in nature and/or complicated by groundwater interactions. This paper presents a field-scale study in which synoptic sampling and PCA are employed in a mineralized watershed (Lion Creek, Colorado, USA) under low flow conditions to (i) quantify the impacts of mining activity on stream water quality; (ii) quantify the spatial pattern of constituent loading; and (iii) identify inflow sources most responsible for observed changes in stream chemistry and constituent loading. Several of the constituents investigated (Al, Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn) fail to meet chronic aquatic life standards along most of the study reach. The spatial pattern of constituent loading suggests four primary sources of contamination under low flow conditions. Three of these sources are associated with acidic (pH <3.1) seeps that enter along the left bank of Lion Creek. Investigation of inflow water (tracemetal and major ion) chemistry using PCA suggests a hydraulic connection between many of the left bank inflows and mine water in the Minnesota Mine shaft located to the north-east of the river channel. In addition, water chemistry data during a rainfall-runoff event suggests the spatial pattern of constituent loading may be modified during rainfall due to dissolution of efflorescent salts or erosion of streamside tailings. These data point to the complexity of contaminant mobilisation processes and constituent loading in mining-affected watersheds but the combined synoptic sampling and PCA approach enables a conceptual model of contaminant dynamics to be developed to inform remediation
Matrix model eigenvalue integrals and twist fields in the su(2)-WZW model
We propose a formula for the eigenvalue integral of the hermitian one matrix
model with infinite well potential in terms of dressed twist fields of the
su(2) level one WZW model. The expression holds for arbitrary matrix size n,
and provides a suggestive interpretation for the monodromy properties of the
