The text analyses the origin and development of housing-block units, known in Mexico as "multifamiliares" and implemented within a formula of urban design that separates the pedestrian of the car, the so called superblock, and who were protagonists of the formula of the Mexican state in the implementation of housing policies for the city of México. There are reviewed the origins and initial proposals for housing buildings in the final forties, specifically the Unidad Modelo and Unidad Esperanza and other bigger housing-block units design by Mario Pani and built between 1946 and 1965. The development of the superblock and of the housing-block units reflects the influence of the ideas ofthe Modern Movement about urban design and new housing typology. New urban design with the superblock and it's ideal of establishing a new urban order in the urban fabric through a bigger scale and higher density. And with the new typology ofthe housingblock units as representing the aspirations to live in the modernity with a series of integrated services and wide free spaces
Community-oriented Service-Learning: A university experience for preventing cannabis abuse in vulnerable adolescents and young people
Learning integrated into community action promotes a more active citizenry. More specifically, service-learning (S-L) embedded into higher education can represent a big challenge yet also an opportunity to involve the whole university community in social and community development. This paper addresses this teaching method by identifiying and reviewing the different components that define S-L, that is: civic engagement, social responsibility, civic education, partnership, and reflection. The ways in which S-L can be introduced into the curriculum are explained, through detailing experiences already carried out in the teaching of psychology. Current available data on its efficacy in university education are analyzed. The focus now turns to a university experience involving Community Psychology students across Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. During this experience, students on both programmes make their final-year projects to develop a prevention resource aimed at young people at high risk of problematic cannabis use. Ultimately, this program not only teaches students the principles of Community Psychology but also give them an opportunity to put them into practice
A practical floating-gate Muller-C element using vMOS threshold gates
This paper presents the rationale for vMOS-based realizations of digital circuits when logic design techniques based on threshold logic gates are used. Some practical problems in the vMOS implementation of threshold gates have been identified and solved. The feasibility and versatility of the proposed technique as well as its potential as a low-cost design technique for CMOS technologies have been shown by experimental results from a multiple-input Muller C-element. The proposed new realization exhibits better performance related to delay and area and power consumption than the traditional logic implementation
Testing mixed-signal cores: a practical oscillation-based test in an analog macrocell
A formal set of design decisions can aid in using oscillation-based test (OBT) for analog subsystems in SoCs. The goal is to offer designers testing options that do not have significant area overhead, performance degradation, or test time. This work shows that OBT is a potential candidate for IP providers to use in combination with functional test techniques. We have shown how to modify the basic concept of OBT to come up with a practical method. Using our approach, designers can use OBT to pave the way for future developments in SoC testing, and it is simple to extend this idea to BIST.European Union 2635
Bioimpedance real-time charazterization of neointimal tissue inside stents
It is hereby presented a new approach to monitor restenosis in arteries fitted with a stent during an angioplasty. The growth of neointimal tissue is followed up by measuring its bioimpedance with Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). Besides, a mathematical model is derived to analytically describe the neointima’s histological composition from its bioimpedance. The model is validated by finite-element analysis (FEA) with COMSOL Multiphysics®. Satisfactory correlation between the analytical model and the FEA simulation is achieved for most of the characterization range, detecting some deviations introduced by the thin "double layer" that separates the neointima and the blood. It is shown how to apply conformal transformations to obtain bioimpedance models for stack-layered tissues over coplanar electrodes. Particularly, this is applied to characterize the neointima in real-time. This technique is either suitable as a main mechanism of restenosis follow-up or it can be combined with proposed blood-pressure-measuring intelligent stents to auto-calibrate the sensibility loss caused by the adherence of the tissue on the micro-electro-mechanical sensors (MEMS).Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad (Spain): projects TEC2013-46242-C3-1-PMinisterio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad (Spain): projects TEC2013-46242-C3-2-
On-chip evaluation of oscillation-based-test output signals for switched-capacitor circuits
This work presents a simple and low-cost method for on-chip evaluation of test signals coming from the application of the Oscillation-Based-Test (OBT) technique. This method extracts the main test signal features (amplitude, frequency and DC level) in the digital domain requiring just a very simple and robust circuitry. Experimental results obtained from an integrated chip demonstrate the feasibility of the approac
Topological Dual Systems for Spaces of Vector Measure p-Integrable Functions
[EN] We show a Dvoretzky-Rogers type theorem for the adapted version of the q-summing operators to the topology of the convergence of the vector valued integrals on Banach function spaces. In the pursuit of this objective we prove that the mere summability of the identity map does not guarantee that the space has to be finite dimensional, contrary to the classical case. Some local compactness assumptions on the unit balls are required. Our results open the door to new convergence theorems and tools regarding summability of series of integrable functions and approximation in function spaces, since we may find infinite dimensional spaces in which convergence of the integrals, our vector valued version of convergence in the weak topology, is equivalent to the convergence with respect to the norm. Examples and applications are also given. This work was supported by the Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad (Spain) under Grants MTM2015-66823-C2-2-P (P. Rueda) and MTM2012-36740-C02-02 (E. A. The support localization property of the strongly embedded subspaces of banach function spaces
El archivo no es la versión final publicada del trabajo.[EN] Motivated by the well known Kadec-Pelczynski disjointifcation theorem, we undertake
an analysis of the supports of non-zero functions in strongly embedded subspaces of
Banach functions spaces. The main aim is to isolate those properties that bring additional
information on strongly embedded subspaces. This is the case of the support localization
property, which is a necessary condition fulflled by all strongly embedded subspaces. Several
examples that involve Rademacher functions, the Volterra operator, Lorentz spaces
or Orlicz spaces are provided.P. Rueda acknowledges with thanks the support of the Ministerio de Econom´ıa y Competitividad (Spain) MTM2011-22417. E. A.
