Alice in wonderland: experimental jurisprudence on the internal point of view
Humans have this extraordinary cognitive ability: They imagine inexistent objects, they treat them as if they were real, and by doing so they make them real. They thus give rise to a shared institutional reality that enables them to cooperate in ways that would be impossible otherwise. In this paper, we would like to revisit the account that HLA Hart gives of the practice of collective acceptance that makes a legal system possible. We try to provide an explanation of what Hart calls the 'internal point of view', on the basis of experiments on institutional concepts, drawing on the paradigm known as 'embodied cognition'. Experts and non-experts in law rated the role of several cognitive dimensions for a list of words referring to two kinds of abstract concepts (institutional and theoretical/scientific) and two kinds of concrete ones (food and artifact). Institutional concepts were distinguished into pure-institutional (e.g., 'contract', 'state', 'property') and meta-institutional (e.g., 'norm', 'duty', 'justice'). The results provide an empirical account of how our way of thinking about institutions changes as we acquire expertise in the legal field, thus shading light on the cognitive underpinnings of the 'internal point of view'
Unitary transformation approach for the trapped ion dynamics
We present a way of treating the problem of the interaction of a single
trapped ion with laser beams based on successive aplications of unitary
transformations onto the Hamiltonian. This allows the diagonalization of the
Hamiltonian, by means of recursive relations, without performing the Lamb-Dicke

Spontaneous emission and teleportation in cavity QED
In this work, we consider atomic spontaneous emission in a system consisting
of two identical two-level atoms interacting dispersively with the quantized
electromagnetic field in a high-Q cavity. We investigate the destructive effect
of the atomic decay on the generation of maximally entangled states, following
the proposal by Zheng S B and Guo G C (2000 Phys. Rev. Lett. 85 2392). In
particular, we analyze the fidelity of teleportation performed using such a
noisy channel and calculatethe maximum spontaneous decay rate we may have in

Follow-up evaluation of the immunological status of children admitted for acute cerebral nervous system infections: a retrospective study (vol 47, 22, 2021)
background acute cerebral nervous system infections (ACNS) may cause death or severe complications even to promptly treated children. the role of the immune system in influencing the course and the outcome of meningitis has been studied but it is not yet completely understood. the aim of the research is to ascertain whether children who experienced ACNS infection had a normal immune system. methods patients under 18 years of age admitted at bambino gesu children from January 2006 till June 2016 for meningitis were asked to participate to the follow-up study. the immune status was evaluated both clinically and by laboratory investigations. results most of the patients over 3 years at follow up had at least one immunological alteration at follow-up evaluation (74%). considering ACNS infection etiology, certain pathogens were almost exclusive of patients affected by some immunological alteration, regardless of their age. discussion our preliminary results indicate that sub-clinical immunological defects may be associated to ACNS pediatric infections. moreover, to the best of our knowledges, this is the first study correlating pathogens to immune evaluation in ACNS infections. It is, however, important to underline the high frequency of persistent immunological alterations in the analyzed patients. further studies are needed to confirm our conclusions. conclusions we recommend an immunological assessment at follow up evaluation in children who experienced an ACNS infection
Quantum state engineering via unitary transformations
We construct a Hamiltonian for the generation of arbitrary pure states of the
quantized electromagnetic field. The proposition is based upon the fact that a
unitary transformation for the generation of number states has been already
found. The general unitary transformation here obtained, would allow the use of
nonlinear interactions for the production of pure states. We discuss the
applicability of this method by giving examples of generation of simple
superposition states. We also compare our Hamiltonian with the one resulting

Generation Of Entanglement In Quantum Parametric Oscillators Using Phase Control.
The control of quantum entanglement in systems in contact with environment plays an important role in information processing, cryptography and quantum computing. However, interactions with the environment, even when very weak, entail decoherence in the system with consequent loss of entanglement. Here we consider a system of two coupled oscillators in contact with a common heat bath and with a time dependent oscillation frequency. The possibility to control the entanglement of the oscillators by means of an external sinusoidal perturbation applied to the oscillation frequency has been theoretically explored. We demonstrate that the oscillators become entangled exactly in the region where the classical counterpart is unstable, otherwise when the classical system is stable, entanglement is not possible. Therefore, we can control the entanglement swapping from stable to unstable regions by adjusting amplitude and phase of our external controller. We also show that the entanglement rate is approximately proportional to the real part of the Floquet coefficient of the classical counterpart of the oscillators. Our results have the intriguing peculiarity of manipulating quantum information operating on a classical system.51315
Aclees Cf. Sp. Foveatus (Coleoptera Curculionidae), an exotic pest of ficus carica in Italy : a sustainable approach to defence based on aluminosilicate minerals as host plant masking solids
The exceptionally frequent entries of alien pest are a major source of concern for the farmers who have to protect their crops from unknown insects, often without natural enemies in the new areas. A new pest belonging to the Molytinae family (Coleoptera: Curculionidae), tribe Hylobiini, reported as Aclees sp. cf. foveatus Voss, was recently introduced in Italy. The species is responsible for severe damages in many Italian fig nurseries and orchards, particularly in the Italian Central Northern regions, i.e. Tuscany, Ligury and Latium. Currently, no active ingredients are registered against this insect on fig crops. An innovative and eco-friendly approach for controlling this exotic weevil infestation was investigated, by using montmorillonite-based clays, either in their native state or containing copper(II) species, and clinoptilolite zeolites, in order to check the perception of the adults\u2019 weevil towards the different solid materials and, subsequently, to evaluate the capability of these innovative products to act as masking agent with respect to the host plant and/or as repellent upon contact. The formulations containing copper(II)-exchanged clay and clinoptilolite zeolite showed preliminary promising results in terms of efficacy and environmental sustainability
Control of entanglement dynamics in a system of three coupled quantum oscillators
Sem informaçãoDynamical control of entanglement and its connection with the classical concept of instability is an intriguing matter which deserves accurate investigation for its important role in information processing, cryptography and quantum computing. Here we consider a tripartite quantum system made of three coupled quantum parametric oscillators in equilibrium with a common heat bath. The introduced parametrization consists of a pulse train with adjustable amplitude and duty cycle representing a more general case for the perturbation. From the experimental observation of the instability in the classical system we are able to predict the parameter values for which the entangled states exist. A different amount of entanglement and different onset times emerge when comparing two and three quantum oscillators. Epidermolysis Bullosa in children: the central role of the pediatrician
Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is a severe hereditary disease characterized by defective epithelial adhesion causing mucocutaneous fragility. The major types are EB simplex (EBS), junctional EB (JEB), dystrophic EB (DEB) and more than 35 EB subtypes. Another very rare type of EB is Kindler EB (KEB). Clinically, it is a very heterogeneous disease which ranges from localized to extensive skin lesions with frequent multisystem extra cutaneous involvement. The role of a pediatrician-dermatologist cooperation within a multidisciplinary team is fundamental for both the diagnosis and management contributing to these patients' better life expectancy. Aim of this study is to describe clinical and laboratory characteristics of the main EB subtypes focusing on nutritional and gastrointestinal aspects, providing information to aid the paediatric management of children with EB. This retrospective study reviewed the cases of 160 pediatric EB patients (76 male and 84 female): 31 patients affected by EBS (mean age +/- SD: 4.37 +/- 7.14), 21 patients affected by JEB (mean age +/- SD: 9.26 +/- 17.30) and 108 with DEB (mean age +/- SD: 11.61 +/- 13.48). All patients were admitted at the Bambino Gesu Children's Hospital in Rome, between June 2005 to June 2020. The reduced gastrointestinal absorption, chronic losses, esophageal stenosis and chronic inflammatory state, represent the basis of nutritional problems of EB patients. In particular, anemia represents one of the most important complications of DEB patients which could require transfusion-dependent patterns. Malnutrition, vitamin deficiencies and anemia have been related to growth delay in EB patients. A specific diet with a balance of all macronutrients is required and improving caloric intake with sugar limitations is fundamental to prevent dental caries and tooth decay typical of EB patients. While sepsis proved to be the major cause of morbidity and mortality in younger patients, squamous cell carcinoma was mostly observed in older patients, especially those affected by DEB. Patients with EB require regular monitoring for complications and sequelae with a frequency of evaluations which varies based on age and EB subtypes. Cooperation among medical teams involving paediatricians, dermatologists, specialist clinicians including nutritionists such as families and patient's association is fundamental to approach the disease and improve the quality of life of these patients
