Spin exchange and superconductivity in a model for two-dimensional quarter-filled systems
The effect of antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations on two-dimensional
quarter-filled systems is studied theoretically. An effective model on
a square lattice which accounts for checkerboard charge fluctuations and
next-nearest-neighbors antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations is considered. From
calculations based on large-N theory on this model it is found that the
exchange interaction, , increases the attraction between electrons in the
d channel only, so that both charge and spin fluctuations work

Análisis y simulación de redes de dos puertos circuitos cuadripolos.
Este proyecto se basa en el estudio y simulación de los circuitos cuadripolos, los cuales se suelen denominar como una red o malla general que cuenta con dos pares de bornes, uno denominado “borne de entrada” y el otro “borne de salida”, estos circuitos son un bloque constitutivo muy importante de los sistemas electrónicos, ya sean estos de comunicación, de control automático, de transmisión y distribución u otros sistemas en los que la señal o la energía (ambas eléctricas) ingresan por los bornes de entrada, donde la red actúa sobre ellos y surge por bornes de salida.
El par de terminales o bornes de salida se deberían conectar perfectamente con el par de bornes de entrada de otra red. Cuando se estudia conceptos de las redes equivalentes de Thévenin y Norton, se exhibe la idea de que no siempre es necesario conocer las funciones detalladas de una parte de un circuito. Este tema amplía conceptos de este tipo a situaciones en las que incluso no se conocen los detalles de las funciones internas del circuito, suministrados solo con el conocimiento de que el circuito es lineal, y con la capacidad de medir tensiones y corrientes, se percibirá dentro de poco que es posible determinar las características de redes de esta clase con un grupo de parámetros que permitan predecir como interactuará la red con otras redes.This project is based on the study and simulation of quadrupole circuits, which are usually referred to as a network or general mesh that has two pair of terminals, one called “input terminal” and the other “terminal output”, these circuits are a very important constituent block of electronic systems, whether they are communication, automatic control, transmission and distribution or other systems in which the signal or energy (both electric) enter through the input terminals, where the network acts on them and emerges by output terminals.
The pair of terminals or output terminals should be perfectly connected to the input terminal pair of another network. When you study concepts from Thévenin and Norton´s equivalent networks, the idea is exhibited that it is not always necessary to know the detailed functions of a part of a circuit. This topic expands concepts of this type to situations in which the details of the internal functions of the circuit are not even know, provided only with the knowledge that the circuit is linear, and with the aptitude to measure tensions and currents, one will see soon that is possible to determine the characteristics of networks of this class with a set of parameters that it allows to predict since the network will interact with other networks

In this research project, the modeling of deterministic methods for transmission expansion planning (PET) was developed, with the purpose of evaluating the best planning model, to satisfy the progressive increase suffered by electricity demand in transmission networks. , and to be able to transport the respective amount of electrical energy projected to a respective determined horizon of study time 2022 - 2032.En este proyecto de investigación se desarrolló el modelamiento de métodos deterministas para la planificación de la expansión de la trasmisión (PET), con el propósito de evaluar el mejor modelo de planeación, para satisfacer el progresivo incremento que sufre la demanda eléctrica en redes de trasmisión, y poder transportar la respectiva cantidad de energía eléctrica proyectada a un respectivo horizonte determinado de tiempo de estudio 2022 – 2032
Analysis of the iron coatings formed during marcasite and arsenopyrite oxidation at neutral-alkaline conditions
In order to study the nature of the precipitates formed on arsenopyrite and marcasite after reacting with neutral to alkaline solutions, a combination of techniques including Scanning Electron Microscope-Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and synchrotron-based techniques such as micro-X-Ray diffraction (µXRD) and Micro-X-ray Absorption Near Edge Structure (µXANES) have been used. The results showed that the oxidation of marcasite and arsenopyrite under neutral to alkaline conditions leads to the formation of an Fe rich coating which seems to prevent the oxidation of these sulphides. SEM observations confirmed the presence newly-formed phases after the sulphides reaction under the studied conditions. XPS analysis showed that iron, sulphur and arsenic in the case of the arsenopyrite are in oxidized states in the sulphide surfaces. The microscale analysis of the S and Fe speciation performed by µXANES suggested that due to the sulphide oxidation an increase in the oxidation state of those elements took place together with an increase of the sulphate content in the surface layer (grain boundary). Micro-X-ray diffraction results indicated that goethite (a-FeOOH) is the only crystalline newly-formed phase when the reaction occurs at pH 12 whereas at lower pH the products formed on the sulphide surfaces seem to be poorly crystalline and they do not contribute to the diffraction effects in the XRD diagrams
Molecular phylogeny and diversification history of Prosopis (Fabaceae: Mimosoideae)
The genus Prosopis is an important member of arid and semiarid environments around the world. To study Prosopis diversification and evolution, a combined approach including molecular phylogeny, molecular dating, and character optimization analysis was applied. Phylogenetic relationships were inferred from five different molecular markers (matK-trnK, trnL-trnF, trnS-psbC, G3pdh, NIA). Taxon sampling involved a total of 30 Prosopis species that represented all Sections and Series and the complete geographical range of the genus. The results suggest that Prosopis is not a natural group. Molecular dating analysis indicates that the divergence between Section Strombocarpa and Section Algarobia plus Section Monilicarpa occurred in the Oligocene, contrasting with a much recent diversification (Late Miocene) within each of these groups. The diversification of the group formed by species of Series Chilenses, Pallidae, and Ruscifoliae is inferred to have started in the Pliocene, showing a high diversification rate. The moment of diversification within the major lineages of American species of Prosopis is coincident with the spreading of arid areas in the Americas, suggesting a climatic control for diversification of the group. A single genomic region involving a putative chromosome rearrangement in flat oyster (Ostrea edulis) is associated with differential host resilience to the parasite Bonamia ostreae
European flat oyster (Ostrea edulis) is an ecologically and economically important marine bivalve, that has been severely affected by the intracellular parasite Bonamia ostreae. In this study, a flat oyster SNP array (~14,000 SNPs) was used to validate previously reported outlier loci for divergent selection associated with B. ostreae exposure in the Northeast Atlantic Area. A total of 134 wild and hatchery individuals from the North Sea, collected in naïve (NV) and long-term affected (LTA) areas, were analysed. Genetic diversity and differentiation were related to the sampling origin (wild vs. hatchery) when using neutral markers, and to bonamiosis status (NV vs. LTA) when using outlier loci for divergent selection. Two genetic clusters appeared intermingled in all sampling locations when using outlier loci, and their frequency was associated with their bonamiosis status. When both clusters were compared, outlier data sets showed high genetic divergence (FST > 0.25) unlike neutral loci (FST not ≠ 0). Moreover, the cluster associated with LTA samples showed much higher genetic diversity and significant heterozygote excess with outlier loci, but not with neutral data. Most outliers mapped on chromosome 8 (OE-C8) of the flat oyster genome, supporting a main genomic region underlying resilience to bonamiosis. Furthermore, differentially expressed genes previously reported between NV and LTA strains showed higher mapping density on OE-C8. A range of relevant immune functions were specifically enriched among genes annotated on OE-C8, providing hypotheses for resilience mechanisms to an intracellular parasite. The results suggest that marker-assisted selection could be applied to breed resilient strains of O. edulis to bonamiosis, if lower parasite load and/or higher viability of the LTA genetic cluster following B. ostreae infection is demonstratedBiotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. Signatures of selection for bonamiosis resistance in European flat oyster (Ostrea edulis): New genomic tools for breeding programs and management of natural resources
The European flat oyster (Ostrea edulis) is a highly appreciated mollusk with an important aquaculture production throughout the 20th century, in addition to playing an important role on coastal ecosystems. Overexploitation of natural beds, habitat degradation, introduction of non‐native species, and epidemic outbreaks have severely affected this important resource, particularly, the protozoan parasite Bonamia ostreae, which is the main concern affecting its production and conservation. In order to identify genomic regions and markers potentially associated with bonamiosis resistance, six oyster beds distributed throughout the European Atlantic coast were sampled. Three of them have been exposed to this parasite since the early 1980s and showed some degree of innate resistance (long‐term affected group, LTA), while the other three were free of B. ostreae at least until sampling date (naïve group, NV). A total of 14,065 SNPs were analyzed, including 37 markers from candidate genes and 14,028 from a medium‐density SNP array. Gene diversity was similar between LTA and NV groups suggesting no genetic erosion due to long‐term exposure to the parasite, and three population clusters were detected using the whole dataset. Tests for divergent selection between NV and LTA groups detected the presence of a very consistent set of 22 markers, located within a putative single genomic region, which suggests the presence of a major quantitative trait locus associated with B. ostreae resistance. Moreover, 324 outlier loci associated with factors other than bonamiosis were identified allowing fully discrimination of all the oyster beds. A practical tool which included the 84 highest discriminative markers for tracing O. edulis populations was developed and tested with empirical data.
