The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of social media and the great impact it can have on small to medium sized companies. Social media has proven itself to be an strong channel for marketing due to its capabilities to see what consumers are talking about as well as allowing companies to directly communicate with said consumers in the blink of an eye. This study was conducted alongside Careers on the Move, a boutique job placement firm located in Midtown Manhattan. Over the span of seven months, I tested out a variety of different social media techniques utilizing the Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn Platform. Success was measured via a few select social media metrics that measured reach and acceptance from the consumers. This study indicates that social media allows for companies to communicate more easily with their target audience and more effectively measure the impact it is having on those reading the posts proving social media to be the greatest tool a marketer can utilize

Death of a Salesman: The Rise & Unfortunate Potential Demise of the Full-Time Life Insurance Salesman

(Excerpt) This Article traces the economic and regulatory rise and potential future regulatory demise of the full-time life insurance salesman. It outlines why these salesmen and many of the products that they offer are beneficial to American society, and why public policies should promote both the profession and the products sold by full-time life insurance salesmen. Finally, it suggests some modest regulatory reforms that would promote life insurance sales and the salesmen who make them

Determination of Hydrogel Degradation by Passive Mechanical Testing

    Get PDF
This paper details a new technique to measure the mechanical properties of ETTMP PEGDA hydrogels using Hertz Contact Theory and simultaneously analyze both the model drug release and gel erosion in situ. This method involves curing a drug loaded hydrogel in a standard cuvette and placing a glass bead and phosphate buffer solution (PBS). Over time, the cross-linked network of the hydrogel breaks down, and, as a result, the ball sinks into the hydrogel. This method provides a macroscopic and inexpensive way to continuously and passively measure properties of the hydrogel as the hydrogel degrades. By plotting both the hydrogel erosion and model drug release of the hydrogel, the full dynamic release and degradation is simultaneously evaluated over a period of time. A machine learning algorithm is implemented to predict the behavior of the hydrogel under different experimental conditions. Data from the experiments trains a machine learning model and creates an optimized decision tree which uses mean square error analysis to predict the appropriate polymer weight percent of the hydrogel vessel based on the properties of the drug enclosed and desired degradation time

Middle Managers of the Leadership Classroom: Realizing the Developmental Capacity of Teaching Assistants

    Get PDF
In this phenomenological study, the authors explore exemplar teaching assistants’ experiences and perceptions of their work in supporting leadership development for undergraduate business students. Findings demonstrate that successful, effective teaching assistants whose role is to cultivate students’ leadership competencies conceptualize their roles as middle managers in the classroom, acting independently and focusing on system stability. Forming professional networks and establishing physical and psychological boundaries support their developmental roles. Based on the findings, the authors present guidelines for universities that use teaching assistants in developmental roles, strategies for individuals who serve as assistants, and implications for future research

"ESTEHETIC SMILE" A CONCERN DUE TO ALTERED PASSIVE ERUPTION - CASE REPORTS

    Get PDF
A gummy smile is an esthetic alteration that is of concern in today’s era of perfection and beauty. The gingival complex plays a vital role in the overall beauty of an individual’s smile. Altered passive eruption is a clinical situation that occurs due to excessive gum overlapping the enamel, thus contributing to a gummy smile. Altered passive eruption may easily be corrected provided the biologic determinants are taken into consideration to achieve a favourable esthetic outcome. Keywords: Altered passive eruption, gummy smile, crown lengthening, gingivectomy, biologic width

In Vitro Study of Pseudomonas spp. Isolated from Soil

Pseudomonas spp., a soil microorganism, associated in the rhizosphere zones of crop fields are powerful phosphate solubilizers. The principal mechanism for mineral phosphate solubilization is the production of organic acids, and acid phosphatases that play a major role in the mineralization of organic phosphorous in soil. (Rodríguez, H. and Fraga, R. 2000). Thus, Pseudomonas are eco-friendly and bring about solubilization of bound phosphates in soil with out any environmental hazard. This experiment was conducted to isolate soil Pseudomonas spp. from different agrobased areas of Korea district of C.G. and study its behavior taking different parameters.  From 25 soil samples collected, bacterial cultures were isolated and four were identified as Pseudomonas spp. and further studied their cultural and microscopic characteristics in vitro
