    Get PDF
In recent years, the export performance of SMEs has been one of the most researched topics in administrative sciences. Despite this, due to the differences between SMEs and the context in which they operate, there is no commonly accepted taxonomy. However, the internationalization models of SMEs, based on the resource-based approach, recognize the importance of knowledge about international markets to achieve high levels of export performance. In the present investigation, it is considered that knowledge is a necessary but not sufficient condition for the identification and exploitation of opportunities in international markets. Therefore, a model is proposed, based on the evolutionary perspective of strategic management, where the financial and strategic export performance is influenced by the absorption capacity and the entrepreneurial orientation of exporting SMEs. To check the hypothesis of the conceptual model, exporting SMEs from Ecuador were studied. This research shows that the entrepreneurial orientation has a greater influence than the absorption capacity in achieving high levels of financial and strategic export performance of SMEs. On the other hand, to deepen the results, the heterogeneity of the model was estimated through the inclusion of moderating variables. In addition, the implications of the results are presented to SME and government administrators for the design of strategies that allow the strategic insertion of Ecuadorian companies in international markets. Finally, research lines are proposed to extend the knowledge of the result of the internationalization of SMEs from the perspective of resources and strategic capabilitiesTesi

Gastronomic festivals have become a pathway to promoting the gastronomy and culture of a tourist destination. However, there is no taxonomy for evaluating the quality of services in these types of festivals. For this reason, the present study aimed to propose a service quality evaluation model applicable to gastronomic festivals based on a review of commonly used models. The research was carried out at the Ra铆ces Gastronomic Festival held in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in 2018. Six hundred valid questionnaires were obtained, and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was applied to identify the dimensions of the items. In addition, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to validate the proposed model. As a result, we obtained a questionnaire to evaluate the quality of services in gastronomic festivals based on tangibility, reliability, responsiveness, and adequacy dimensions. These findings contribute to expanding the academic literature on food festivals and provide a questionnaire to measure the service quality of this type of event

If there is any field that has experienced changes as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is work, primarily due to the implementation of teleworking and the effort made by workers and families to face new responsibilities. In this context, the study aims to analyze the impact of work鈥揻amily conflict on burnout, considering work overload, in teleworkers during the COVID-19 pandemic. To evaluate the hypotheses, we used data collected during the last week of July 2020 using an online survey. Work鈥揻amily conflict and burnout were measured using the Gutek et al. (1991) and Shirom (1989) scales. We tested the hypotheses using a structural equation model (SEM). The results indicated, between other findings, that there was a positive relationship between work鈥揻amily conflict and family鈥搘ork conflict and all the dimensions of burnout. However, there was no effect of teleworking overload in the work鈥揻amily conflict and burnout relationship. This article is innovative because it highlights the importance of the economic and regulatory conditions that have surrounded the modality of teleworking during the pandemic, and their influence on wellbeing and psychosocial risks in workers

Eco-Innovation and Firm Performance: Evidence from South America

Eco-innovation has received a great deal of attention in academia and the business sector because it promotes a firm鈥檚 sustainable development and seeks to improve its performance. The prime objective of this study was to analyze the effect of the process, organization, and product eco-innovation on the company鈥檚 financial and environmental performance. Using a structural equation model estimated by maximum likelihood and a sample from 214 South American manufacturing companies in Colombia, Ecuador, and Per煤, we found that organizational eco-innovation (OE) and process eco-innovation (PCE) are positively and significantly associated with the firm鈥檚 environmental and financial performance. In contrast, product eco-innovation (PDE) is not significantly associated with the two types of performance described. Likewise, OE has a significant and positive indirect influence on PDE, environmental performance, and financial performance. These findings suggest that OE and PCE positively affect the firm鈥檚 performance. On the contrary, PDE does not have this effect, extending the discussion that eco-innovation is specific to the context of the study
