    Indication for π+π\pi^+ \pi^- scattering in p+pp+p collisions at sNN=\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} = 200 GeV

A ρ(770)0\rho(770)^0 mass shift of about -40 MeV/c2c^2 was measured in p+pp+p collisions at sNN=\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} = 200 GeV at RHIC. Previous mass shifts have been observed at CERN-LEBC-EHS and CERN-LEP. We will show that phase space does not account for the ρ(770)0\rho(770)^0 mass shift measured at RHIC, CERN-LEBC-EHS and CERN-LEP and conclude that there are significant scattering interactions in p+pp+p collisions.Comment: 11 pages and 7 figure

Saturation of electrical resistivity in metals at large temperatures

We present a microscopic model for systems showing resistivity saturation. An essentially exact quantum Monte-Carlo calculation demonstrates that the model describes saturation. We give a simple explanation for saturation, using charge conservation and considering the limit where thermally excited phonons have destroyed the periodicity. Crucial model features are phonons coupling to the hopping matrix elements and a unit cell with several atoms. We demonstrate the difference to a model of alkali-doped C60 with coupling to the level positions, for which there is no saturation.Comment: 4 page, RevTeX, 3 eps figures, additional material available at http://www.mpi-stuttgart.mpg.de/andersen/fullerene

Updated resonance photo-decay amplitudes to 2 GeV

    Get PDF
We present the results of an energy-dependent and set of single-energy partial-wave analyses of single-pion photoproduction data. These analyses extend from threshold to 2 GeV in the laboratory photon energy, and update our previous analyses to 1.8 GeV. Photo-decay amplitudes are extracted for the baryon resonances within this energy range. We consider two photoproduction sum rules and the contributions of two additional resonance candidates found in our most recent analysis of πN\pi N elastic scattering data. Comparisons are made with previous analyses.Comment: Revtex, 26 pages, 3 figures. Postscript figures available from ftp://clsaid.phys.vt.edu/pub/pr or indirectly from http://clsaid.phys.vt.edu/~CAPS

Low Q^2 measurements of the proton form factor ratio mupGE/GMmu_p G_E / G_M

We present an updated extraction of the proton electromagnetic form factor ratio, mu_p G_E/G_M, at low Q^2. The form factors are sensitive to the spatial distribution of the proton, and precise measurements can be used to constrain models of the proton. An improved selection of the elastic events and reduced background contributions yielded a small systematic reduction in the ratio mu_p G_E/G_M compared to the original analysis.Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures, archival paper for proton form factor extraction from Jefferson Lab "LEDEX" experimen

The Proton Elastic Form Factor Ratio at Low Momentum Transfer

High precision measurements of the proton elastic form factor ratio have been made at four-momentum transfers, Q^2, between 0.2 and 0.5 GeV^2. The new data, while consistent with previous results, clearly show a ratio less than unity and significant differences from the central values of several recent phenomenological fits. By combining the new form-factor ratio data with an existing cross-section measurement, one finds that in this Q^2 range the deviation from unity is primarily due to GEp being smaller than the dipole parameterization.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figure
