Software Configuration Management in Mixed Risk Environments

    No full text
Software Configuration Mangement is becoming more important so that organizations can save time by preventing downtime by standardizing the configurations of the computers for end users. The ANP model was used in this study to simulate a variety of mission critical computers mixed in with non mission critical computers to determine the best conditions for deploying software configurations based on the maximum amount of risk, availability of IT staff for support should something go wrong, and the potential downtime that may result. In the future it is hoped that this decision model will be implemented as a feature in future software so that users can input their qualitative weights and criteria in order to determine whether it is safe to deploy software configurations

A Technology Roadmap to Uncontested Market Space Using Autonomous Vehicles in the Transportation Industry

    No full text
This paper presents a conceptual technology roadmap for autonomous vehicles. The roadmap analysis results indicate that standardization and computerization of business processes continues from previous years. Deeply connecting organizations allow for fast economic development. Hyper-competition begins when development reaches a plateau. The escape from this situation is a breakthrough in knowledge, requiring operations to become knowledge intensive. There is continuing development of inexpensive machine-to-machine communication that facilitates the exchange of vital data. This data enables machines to make good business decisions and execute them in various spaces. We also forecast that standards will continue to be created and implemented, enabling new autonomic and organic computing processes to be tested and integrated with other systems. After these systems are released for widespread use, emergent patterns will be revealed where humans will utilize them to create value by connecting these patterns to other spaces. None of these technologies are possible without inexpensive and instantaneous machine-to-machine communication. Standard technologies from the beginning of the twenty-first century will serve as a low-level communication and decision making a layer for holonic systems and organic computing

    Line Optimization in Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing

It is becoming more apparent that biopharmaceuticals are an integral part of a healthy society. From insulin to penicillin, biopharma is a ‘white hat’ part of the entity known as Big Pharma. [Synopsis of the biopharma industry’s typical manufacturing processes and the inherent difficulties/challenges that arise at this time; why they need to be solved. What would be gained from a found solution.] Inherent difficulties of the industry have been the internationalization of the business of biopharmaceuticals, the diversity and complexity of new drugs and diminishing protection provided by patents are some of the challenges that these companies face at a global level which impact the decision making process (Papageorgiou, Rotstein, Shah, et al, 2001). Methodology: After a few weeks of research, it was found that an optimization of the line had to be set up. In doing this, it was found that a Sensitivity Report could not be administered due to limitations of Excel. Open Solver also operates similarly and was not able to arrive at the optimal solution in any reasonable amount of time. It was found that the problem presented itself somewhat as a ‘diversifying portfolio’ problem in which the resources available are to be utilized in the most optimal way possible. Results and Conclusions: Excel Solver was still able to find a solution but not able to deploy a Sensitivity Report. The results were typical and met the research expectations. Being dependent on levels of inventory, the decision to run one product over another was elegantly put by Excel Solver. Sometimes, the decision would be made to run more than one product per week. This is permissible so long as the high level of purity and quality can be maintained

    Multicultural Conflict Resolution Strategy

    No full text
This research paper studied and investigated how the multicultural environment would impact the conflict resolution strategies. From literature review, we understood the different sources and level of conflicts. We went through the evolvement of different theoretical models for conflict resolution strategy styles to explore the relationship between cultural variables and their impact on conflict resolution strategies. From several related quantitative researches, we categorized the multicultural environment into four types and identified their preference of conflict resolution strategy styles

A Technology Roadmap for Autonomous Bus Service in the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet)

    No full text
Organizations use Technology Roadmapping (TRM) to discover a critical path of action to pursue in their research and development of future technologies and products. This provides a technology roadmap for creating autonomous bus service in the Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) . A review of related literature and the essential market drivers, products, and technologies review were researched and integrated into this technology roadmap, inferring that autonomous bus service be made available in the year 2042 while continuously enhancing Intelligent Transportation Systems and its related products from the year 2018. The QFD (Quality Function Deployment) method was used to discover and evaluate relationships between market drivers, products and technologies
