Some Legal Aspects of Cloud Computing Contracts
Cloud computing is a technological reality that is being widely adopted by large companies. This study discusses cloud computing and information security. It also includes some of the advantages and risks, models of system and service adopted, as well as key services offered by the providers of cloud computing. It also addresses the legal issues of cloud computing contracts, with a focus on the contracting parties, on their goal and main clauses that must be addressed in this atypical contract, among them the integrity and confidentiality of data plus information requirements for supplying information and the purpose of the content stored in the case of breach of contract
Private Law and State Paternalism: Too Much Legal Regulation of Private Life?
This article analyses the adverse effect of paternalistic attitudes adopted by the State, especially the legal regulation of private life. Often, the State has adopted certain positions, especially through the issuance of rules and legal decisions in areas where Private Law and freedom of choice has prevailed, such as private contracts. Due to a protectionist position adopted by the State, legal regulation of private life has increased. The Judiciary resolves questions that arise daily in private orbit precisely because it is considered as the only social actor able to implement its own decisions. In such a way, this study seeks to analyze the possible consequences of this state altruistic posture. It is interesting to note that such a posture is authoritative at the same time, since individuals are considered eternally vulnerable and minimizes principles of Private Law. This, ultimately, could lead from a democratic system to an authoritarian one
DQ white-dwarf stars with low C abundance: Possible progenitors
The present paper focuses on the evolution of hydrogen-deficient white dwarfs
with the aim of exploring the consequences of different initial envelope
structures on the carbon abundances expected in helium-rich,
carbon-contaminated DQ white dwarfs. In particular, the evolutionary link
between the DQs with low detected carbon abundances and the PG1159, extreme
horizontal branch, and helium-rich R Coronae Borealis (RCrB) stars is explored.
We present full evolutionary calculations that take a self-consistent treatment
of element diffusion into account as well as expectations for the outer layer
chemical stratification of progenitor stars upon entering the white dwarf
regime. We find that PG1159 stars cannot be related to any DQ white dwarfs with
low C abundances. Instead, we suggest that the latter could constitute the

The relative risk of second primary cancers in Switzerland: a population-based retrospective cohort study.
More people than ever before are currently living with a diagnosis of cancer and the number of people concerned is likely to continue to rise. Cancer survivors are at risk of developing a second primary cancer (SPC). This study aims to investigate the risk of SPC in Switzerland.
The study cohort included all patients with a first primary cancer recorded in 9 Swiss population-based cancer registries 1981-2009 who had a minimum survival of 6 months, and a potential follow-up until the end of 2014. We calculated standardized incidence ratios (SIR) to estimate relative risks (RR) of SPC in cancer survivors compared with the cancer risk of the general population. SIR were stratified by type of first cancer, sex, age and period of first diagnosis, survival period and site of SPC.
A total of 33,793 SPC were observed in 310,113 cancer patients. Both male (SIR 1.18, 95%CI 1.16-1.19) and female (SIR 1.20, 95%CI 1.18-1.22) cancer survivors had an elevated risk of developing a SPC. Risk estimates varied substantially according to type of first cancer and were highest in patients initially diagnosed with cancer of the oral cavity and pharynx, Hodgkin lymphoma, laryngeal, oesophageal, or lung cancer. Age-stratified analyses revealed a tendency towards higher RR in patients first diagnosed at younger ages. Stratified by survival period, risk estimates showed a rising trend with increasing time from the initial diagnosis. We observed strong associations between particular types of first and SPC, i.e. cancer types sharing common risk factors such as smoking or alcohol consumption (e.g. repeated cancer of the oral cavity and pharynx (SIR <sub>males</sub> 20.12, 95%CI 17.91-22.33; SIR <sub>females</sub> 37.87, 95%CI 30.27-45.48).
Swiss cancer survivors have an increased risk of developing a SPC compared to the general population, particularly patients first diagnosed before age 50 and those surviving more than 10 years. Cancer patients should remain under continued surveillance not only for recurrent cancers but also for new cancers. Some first and SPCs share lifestyle associated risk factors making it important to promote healthier lifestyles in both the general population and cancer survivors
Theoretical UBVRI colors of iron core white dwarfs
We explore photometric properties of hypothetical iron core white dwarfs and
compute their expected colors in UBVRI Johnson broadband system. Atmospheres of
iron core WDs in this paper consist of pure iron covered by a pure hydrogen
layer of an arbitrary column mass. LTE model atmospheres and theoretical
spectra are calculated on the basis of Los Alamos TOPS opacities and the
equation of state from the OPAL project, suitable for nonideal Fe and H gases.
We have also computed UBVRI colors of the models and determined an area on the
B-V vs. U-B and U-B vs. V-I planes, occupied by both pure Fe, and pure H model
atmospheres of WD stars. Finally, we search for iron core white dwarf

Cenozoic evolution of the steppe-desert biome in Central Asia
The origins and development of the arid and highly seasonal steppe-desert biome in Central Asia, the largest of its kind in the world, remain largely unconstrained by existing records. It is unclear how Cenozoic climatic, geological, and biological forces, acting at diverse spatial and temporal scales, shaped Central Asian ecosystems through time. Our synthesis shows that the Central Asian steppe-desert has existed since at least Eocene times but experienced no less than two regime shifts, one at the Eocene–Oligocene Transition and one in the mid-Miocene. These shifts separated three successive “stable states,” each characterized by unique floral and faunal structures. Past responses to disturbance in the Asian steppe-desert imply that modern ecosystems are unlikely to recover their present structures and diversity if forced into a new regime. This is of concern for Asian steppes today, which are being modified for human use and lost to desertification at unprecedented rates
