Escaping points of commuting meromorphic functions with finitely many poles
Let and be commuting meromorphic functions with finitely many poles.
By studying the behaviour of Fatou components under this commuting relation, we
prove that and have the same Julia set whenever and have no
simply connected fast-escaping wandering domains. By combining this with a
recent result of Tsantaris', we obtain the strongest statement (to date)
regarding the Julia sets of commuting meromorphic functions. In order to
highlight the difference to the entire case, we show that transcendental
meromorphic functions with finitely many poles have orbits that alternate
between approaching a pole and escaping to infinity at strikingly fast rates.Comment: 14 pages, 2 figure

The effects of product market reforms In Portugal: a more productive, more efficient and more resilient economy?
This paper assesses the short-term impact of product market deregulation in upstream sectors on the productivity of firms in downstream sectors (i.e. those firms using the output of the reformed sectors as inputs in their production process). Relying on a firm level database for the period 2004-2014 covering all Portuguese firms, we show that the most productive firms (those at the sectoral technological frontier) grasp short-run benefits from these reforms, which are then spread to all other firms via spillover mechanisms. In addition, reforms potentiate the exit of the least productive firms, improving the resource allocation in the economy. Finally, we show that the adoption of product market reforms in upstream sectors leads to a more resilient economy, better equipped to face adverse shocks

Classifying multiply connected wandering domains
We study the internal dynamics of multiply connected wandering domains of meromorphic functions. We do so by considering the sequence of injectivity radii along the orbit of a base point, together with the hyperbolic distortions along the same orbit. The latter sequence had been previously used in this context; the former introduces geometric information about the shape of the wandering domains that interacts with the dynamic information given by the hyperbolic distortions. Using this idea, we complete the description of the internal dynamics of any wandering domain of a meromorphic function, and also unify previous approaches to the question. We conclude that the internal dynamics of a wandering domain, from the point of view of hyperbolic geometry, can be classified into six different types. Five of these types are realised by wandering domains of entire functions, while the sixth can only arise for meromorphic functions: a locally but not globally eventually isometric wandering domain. We construct a meromorphic function with such a domain, demonstrating that this new phenomenon does in fact occur. Our results show that, on a local level, the dynamics of multiply connected wandering domains of meromorphic functions is similar to those of entire functions, although new global phenomena can arise for non-entire functions

Assessing the role of big data and the Internet of things on the transition to circular economy: part I: an extension of the ReSOLVE framework proposal through a literature review
The debate about circular economy (CE) is increasingly present in the strategic agenda of organisations around the world, being driven by government agencies and general population pressures, or by organisations’ own vision for sustainable future. This is due in part to the increasing possibility of turning original theoretical CE proposals into real economically viable initiatives, now possible with modern technology applications such as big data and the internet of things (IoT). Information technology (IT) professionals have been called upon to incorporate technology projects into their strategic plans to support their organisations’ transition to CE, but a structured framework with the necessary IT capabilities still lacks. This study focuses on taking the first step towards this path, by extending the technology attributes present on the existing Ellen MacArthur Foundation (EMF) Regenerate, Share, Optimise, Loop, Virtualise and Exchange (ReSOLVE) framework. The research was conducted based on an extensive literature review through 226 articles retrieved from Scopus® and Web of ScienceTM databases, which were triangulated, validated and complemented with content analysis using the ‘R’ statistical tool, grey literature research and inputs from specialists. Part I describes the introduction and methods used in this study.Indisponível
