Wired for success - how Nos may optimize shareholder value with a different capital structure

The following Work Project consists of an Equity Research report on NOS SGPS S.A., one of the largest telecommunications and media and entertainment companies operating in Portugal. The report provides in an initial phase an in-depth overview of the company’s business model and units, industries in which it operates, strategy and competitive positioning as well as an analysis on the historical financial performance. Afterwards, a detailed valuation for each of the company’s business segments was performed, from which the group issues a BUY recommendation considering a calculated upside of 36.37%. The recommendation is corroborated with other valuation methodologies used. In the individual part, several tests were performed on the company’s capital structure for each business unit to assess whether there would be an optimal capital structure with which the company would be able to enhance shareholder value. The Modigliani and Miller theory under perfect capital markets, the Modigliani and Miller theory with corporate taxes, and the trade-off theory were reviewed and tested on the company. It was found that, as expected by the literature considered, with a more levered capital structure, NOS SGPS S.A. would be able to increase shareholder value with a calculated upside of 38.29%

Transactions Cost Theory influence in strategy research: A review through a bibliometric study in leading journals

Transaction cost theory (TCT) is widely used in several management disciplines. Its value for explaining organizational phenomena and managers? decisions is well accepted and has been recognized with two Nobel laureates (Ronald Coase and Oliver Williamson). In this paper we examine the impact of the TCT on extant research in top tier management journals. We conduct a bibliometric study supported in the analysis of citations and co-citations to uncover the connections between authors and presumably theories. This text seeks to describe the main actions with Integrative Community Therapy (TCI), from 2017 to 2019, from Cuiabá – MT, in central-western Brazil, to the city of Bragança, in northern Portugal, pointing out the diversity of groups served, as well as the culture and age group as elements to be considered for the effectiveness of the therapy circle. Furthermore, this work aims to contribute to the dissemination of the TCI, pointing to future possibilities of research or serving as background/data to it.Este texto busca describir las principales acciones con Terapia Comunitaria Integrativa (TCI), de 2017 a 2019, desde Cuiabá – MT, en el centro-oeste de Brasil, hasta la ciudad de Bragança, en el norte de Portugal, señalando la diversidad de grupos atendidos, así en cuanto a la cultura y el grupo de edad como elementos a considerar, para la efectividad de la rueda terapéutica. An annotated list of Symmachia Hübner, [1819] (Lepidoptera: Riodinidae: Symmachiini) from Parque Nacional da Serra do Divisor, Acre, Brazil, with the description of a new species

We provide an illustrated list of species belonging to the genus Symmachia Hübner, [1819] (Lepidoptera: Riodinidae: Symmachiini) collected during an expedition conducted between September 10-21, 2011 in the northern part of the Parque Nacional da Serra do Divisor, Acre, Brazil, a remote region of Amazon rainforest. A total of 46 individuals were collected belonging to 15 species. For all recorded species, drawings of male genitalia and behavioral information are provided to support future studies on the taxonomy of the group. A new species, Symmachia divisora Dolibaina and Leite, sp. nov., is described, and a revised status for Symmachia hetaerina hesione Stichel, 1910, stat. rev., is proposed.Fornecemos a lista ilustrada das espécies pertencentes ao gênero Symmachia Hübner, [1819] (Lepidoptera: Riodinidae: Symmachiini) coletadas durante uma expedição entre os dias 10-21 de setembro de 2011 na porção norte do Parque Nacional da Serra do Divisor, Acre, Brasil, uma remota região de Floresta Amazônica. Ao total foram coletados 46 indivíduos pertencentes a 15 espécies. Para todas as espécies registradas são fornecidos desenhos da genitália masculina e informações de comportamento, com a finalidade de subsidiar futuros trabalhos sobre a taxonomia do grupo. Uma nova espécie, Symmachia divisora Dolibaina and Leite, sp. nov., é descrita, assim como é proposto um status revalidado para Symmachia hetaerina hesione Stichel, 1910, stat. rev.

ORIGENS REMOTAS DE UMA PROTOCRÍTICA TEATRAL BRASILEIRA

ResumoO trabalho aqui apresentado se insere dentro de uma pesquisa maior, empreendida para a conclusão de um pós-doutorado, que pretende historiar parte da crítica teatral brasileira, de seus primórdios no século XVI à sua consolidação como uma atividade intelectual autônoma, algo que se sucedeu no decorrer do século XIX. Inicialmente atrelada a relatos de cunho histórico e à crônica de viagem, somente com o advento da imprensa ela se emanciparia de vez, adquirindo alguns aspectos que hoje a singularizam. O artigo que segue corresponde à primeira parcela da pesquisa, reservada à análise de uma espécie de protocrítica do teatro brasileiro, que vicejou no Brasil colonial pelas mãos de cronistas estrangeiros e nativos, perfazendo uma trajetória em que se percebe uma tênue, mas ainda assim relevante, linha de desenvolvimento.AbstractThe paper presented here is part of a larger research study, conducted for the conclusion of a postdoctoral degree, that proposes to tell part of the history of Brazilian theater criticism from its beginnings in the 16th century to its consolidation as an independent intellectual activity, which happened over the course of the 19th century. Initially associated with historical reports and travel chronicles, it was only with the advent of the press that it would emancipate itself once and for all and acquire some elements that make it unique today. The article that follows corresponds to the first part of this research, reserved for the analysis of a type of proto-criticism of Brazilian theater that flourished in colonial Brazil through the hands of foreign and native chroniclers, comprising a journey in which a tenuous, yet relevant, line of development is noticeable
