EVALUACIÓN DE 7 VARIEDADES DE YUCA MEDIANTE UNA FERIA DE BIODIVERSIDAD EN CONDICIONES DE SEQUÍA EN EL MUNICIPIO JIGUANÍ (Original)

While running the PIAL III project in the municipality of Jiguaní, 4 demonstrative farmsteads were created to execute good agricultural practices and work in the participative genetic improvement at the territory. At the farmstead of Xiomara Oliva Galardy, cooperative member, located in the CCS Abrahán Martínez in the municipality, the behavior of 7 varieties of cassava (Selection 1, CMC 40, Pilonera, Yoya, Y 93-4, Guatemalteca and Filetera ) in drought conditions was evaluated.  The best behavior was found in Y 93-4 variety followed by Yoya and CMC 40 varieties. Pilonera variety did not sprout correctly in drought conditions. The fairs of seeds become, for their design, a sociocultural activity that favors the exchange of experiences and the rescue of the seed, species and varieties adapted to local conditions and to the preferences of agricultural people and their families, which contributes to strengthen the farmer production and to achieve sovereignty and alimentary security.Durante el transcurso de ejecución del proyecto PIAL III  en el municipio Jiguaní se crearon 4 fincas demostrativas con vistas a ejecutar buenas prácticas agrícolas y trabajar el mejoramiento genético participativo en el territorio. En la finca de la cooperativista Xiomara Oliva Galardy,   ubicada en la CCS Abrahán Martínez   del Municipio, se evaluó en condiciones de secano el comportamiento de 7 variedades de yuca (Selección 1, CMC 40, Pilonera, Yoya, Y 93-4, Guatemalteca y Filetera) en condiciones   de sequía.  Se encontró   el mejor comportamiento en la variedad Y 93-4,   seguido por la variedad Yoya y la CMC 40. La variedad Pilonera no tuvo buena brotación   en estas condiciones de sequía. Las Ferias de semillas se convierten, por su diseño, en una actividad sociocultural que favorece el intercambio de experiencias y el rescate de la semilla, de especies y variedades adaptadas a las condiciones locales y al gusto de las personas agricultoras y sus familias, lo que contribuye a fortalecer la producción campesina y a lograr la soberanía y seguridad alimentaria
