Técnicas pedagógicas sencillas que refuerzan calidad en el proceso docente educativo Simple pedagogical techniques to strengthen the teaching-learning process

Transcurridos dos cursos, la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de Pinar del Río, como en otras facultades del país, ha visto triplicada su matrícula general. El curso 2006- 07 ya implementó la formación de recursos humanos de salud en cuatro carreras (Medicina, Enfermería, Tecnología y Psicología). Se realiza una investigación participativa del proceso de dominio de las características: carácter y personalidad de los alumnos y la forma de ser tratados por los profesores del Hospital "León Cuervo Rubio" de Pinar del Río. Los resultados expresan que el 90 % está situado en la temática y conduce el proceso, pero el 40 por ciento de estos no maneja la situación, o sea la conducción adecuada del proceso de acuerdo a las diferencias de los alumnos. Con el objetivo de motivar la acción de los profesores en la adquisición de aspectos pedagógicos sencillos para lograr la calidad esperada en la atención a los educandos, y rescatar sugerencias didácticas para la conservación de valores en nuestros estudiantes y presentar un modelo práctico y novedoso de transmisión de conocimientos, para que docentes y alumnos cuenten con una herramienta de consulta, buscando la transformación de la Universidad Médica a que estamos convocados. Se empleó el método de encuesta, para el diagnóstico de los problemas que confrontaban los profesores, elaborando un plan de medidas encaminadas a dar solución a los problemas, como resultado fundamental se obtuvo: la existencia de dificultades para enfrentar adecuadamente al profesional a que se aspira. Con este trabajo pueden mejorarse esos aspectos. A participative research about the learning process and its knowledge by the teaching staff was conducted aimed at knowing personal characteristics of the students and their behaviour at "León Cuervo Rubio" Hospital in Pinar del Río. Results of the research showed that 90% were aware of the contents and guided the process properly, but 40% out of them did not manage the process, considering individual differences of the students. With the purpose of motivating the actions of professors in learning simple pedagogical aspects to increase the expected quality in the teaching-learning process and to recover didactical suggestions, moral values and present a practical and new model of assimilating and transmitting knowledge as a teaching tool for professors and students, in order to achieve transformations in Medical Universities. Survey was the method used to diagnose the main problems professors faced with students, planning those measures designed to give solutions to such problems. Concluding that difficulties still prevail and following the objectives of this research paper those negative aspects found can be solved in the course of the teaching-learning process. Thuya occidentalis 12 ch como variante de tratamiento de la carúncula uretral en Pinar del Río. Enero 2000 - diciembre 2005. Thuja occidentalis 12ch as an option of treatment in urethral caruncule in Pinar del Rio- January 2000-December 2005

La Carúncula uretral es una enfermedad femenina. Hasta el momento actual, la indicación eficaz de tratamiento es el proceder quirúrgico o largos períodos de tratamientos estrogénicos. Se realizó estudio prospectivo, descriptivo analítico longitudinal, desde enero del  año 2000 hasta diciembre del 2005, a un grupo de 46 pacientes, en el HCQ "León Cuervo Rubio" de Pinar del Río, con el objetivo de validar la aplicación de un medicamento homeopático, Thuya Occidentalis  12 CH, que entre otras indicaciones según patogenesia, tiene la de actuar sobre formaciones polipoideas o estructuras semejantes a la Carúncula uretral. Fue utilizada la estadística descriptiva y como método estadístico la media porcentual para el análisis de los resultados. Se encontró en el grupo coincidencia con la literatura en cuanto a edad y síntomas de presentación. Se magnifica el resultado de desaparición de la lesión antes de las tres semanas en el 92,8% de las pacientes  El 85,7% de las pacientes sobrepasa el año de evolución sin aparición de recidivas del tumor y sus síntomas acompañantes. Se convierte en un tratamiento eficiente, no invasivo, aporta un método de diagnóstico diferencial con otras entidades. Palabras clave: Thuya occidentalis / Carúncula uretral / eficiencia. ABSTRACT Urethral Caruncle is a female disease. Even in current times the most effective treatments are surgical approach or long-term periods of estrogen. A prospective, descriptive, analytic-longitudinal study from January 2000 to December 2005 was carried out in a group of 46 patients at "León Cuervo Rubio" Hospital in Pinar del Río, aimed at validating the use of the homeopathic drug Thuya occidentalis 12 CH, that among other indications and according to the pathogeny, acts on polypoid formations or structures similar to urethral caruncle. Descriptive statistics was used, and percentage mean was taken as a statistic method to analyze the results; coinciding age and symptoms of presentation with medical literature. The result of the disappearence of the lesion was significant before three weeks in 92,8% of the cases, 85,9% of them surpass one year without relapses of the tumor or its symptoms. La Homeopatía: un reto en el tratamiento de la gingivoestomatitis herpética aguda. Homeopaty: A challenge in the treatment of Acute Herpetic gingivostomatitis

Las enfermedades bucales constituyen uno de los problemas de salud más comunes en todo el mundo, siendo la más representativa la Gingivoestomatitis Herpética Aguda (GEHA). Con el objetivo de evaluar la efectividad de los medicamentos homeopáticos en el control de la GEHA, evolución clínica, necesidad de hospitalización y uso de antibióticos, se realizó un estudio descriptivo, prospectivo, longitudinal y correlacional a 504 pacientes de edad pediátrica, divididos en dos grupos, uno el grupo estudio, tratado con medicamentos homeopáticos a baja potencia, y el segundo el grupo control, en el cual se empleó también medicación natural (colutorios de Llantén). El estudio fue realizado de Septiembre de 2004 a Enero 2006. Se empleó como método estadístico la media porcentual, test Chi cuadrado y la prueba de comparación K para proporciones de grupos independientes, teniendo como resultado que el grupo de niños mas afectado fue el de 1-5 años y del sexo masculino. Fue estadísticamente significativa la aparición de ulceraciones, sangramiento y dolor. La evolución con el tratamiento homeopático fue estadísticamente significativa (p>1000 E13), para 1-2 días, obteniéndose al cuarto día el 79.5% de curación. Ninguno de los niños estudiados en el período repitió la enfermedad. La conclusión fundamental fue que la homeopatía es un método muy útil en el tratamiento de la gingivoestomatitis herpética aguda. ABSTRACT Oral diseases constitute one of the most common health problems world wide, being the most representative Acute Herpetic Gingivostomatitis. Aimed at assessing the effectiveness of homeopathic treatment in the control of this entity, clinical course, necessity of hospital admission and use of antibiotics, a descriptive, prospective, longitudinal and correlational study in 504 pediatric patients was carried out. These patients were divided into two groups: No. 1 study group, treated with low-potency homeopathic medications; No. 2 control group, where natural medications were also used (collutories of plantago major). The study was performed from September 2004 to January 2006, as statistic methods were established percentage mean, Chi square test and comparison K for proportions of independent groups, having as results that the most affected group of children was the group of 1 - 5 years old, prevailing masculine sex. The onset of ulcerations, bleedings and pain was of statistical significanc (p > 1000 E 13), for 1 - 2 days, obtaining at the fourth day 79.5% of curing. None of the children studied during this period repeated the disease. The main conclusion was that homeopathy is a very useful method in the treatment of Acute Herpetic Gingivostomatitis. Hospital Pediátrico Provincial Docente "Pepe Portilla". Un recorrido por su historia / "Pepe Portilla" Children Provincial Teaching Hospital: a journey around its history

Se puede ser buen alumno, trabajador, técnico o profesional sin conocer la historia, pero evidentemente, se puede ser aún mejor conociéndola. Con el fin de impedir se ignore o el paso del tiempo borre la significación de los acontecimientos que son pilares de la medicina de la provincia, se realizó la búsqueda de datos sobre la historia del Hospital Pediátrico Provincial Docente Pepe Portilla, de los centros que le antecedieron, aspectos fundamentales de la docencia, acorde a la evolución del Sistema Nacional de Salud, hasta la actualidad y la razón de su nombre. Se empleó como instrumento en la investigación la entrevista personal a trabajadores del centro y otros datos vinculados con su evolución histórica, obtenidos de buscadores electrónicos. La evolución de la Pediatría en la provincia estuvo relacionada con los cambios sociales en las diferentes épocas; fue notable el desarrollo alcanzado al triunfo de la Revolución en la preparación de profesionales y técnicos. El hospital "Pepe Portilla" constituye un pilar fundamental en la atención de la población infantil y se distingue por la formación de recursos humanos de reconocida certificación en la especialidad, para la atención infantil en la provincia de Pinar del Río y otros países, con una historia acumulada digna de ser divulgada.Palabras clave: HISTORIA DE LA MEDICINA, ENSEÑANZA.ABSTRACTBeing a good pupil, worker, technician or professional without history knowledge could be possible, but it is obvious, that one can better knowing about the history. The evolution of Pediatrics in the province was related to the social changes in different periods of time; the triumph of Revolution marked a development in the training of health professionals and technicians. Necesidad de una expresión oral de calidad en la pedagogía médica actual / The need of an oral expression of quality in Current Medical Pedagogy

Todos los cubanos y gran parte del mundo conoce cuanto se ha hecho y se hace en Cuba en la búsqueda de soluciones para mejorar la eficiencia de los servicios integrales de Salud; una mirada desde la "Historia me Absolverá" del Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro hasta nuestros días confirmaría prontamente lo planteado. Se realiza una investigación acción del proceso de expresión oral en los profesores del "Hospital León Cuervo Rubio" de Pinar del Río y también del significado de su comportamiento a través del tiempo para el proceso de educación. Se hace énfasis en la formación de recursos humanos en Salud y de la importancia que tiene para Cuba y el Tercer Mundo que este Proceso de Enseñanza Aprendizaje concluya con elevada calidad, por lo que se presenta el tema "expresión oral" explicado en forma de preguntas y respuestas. Es objetivo que tanto docentes como alumnos cuenten con una herramienta de consulta, que a la vez eleve la calidad final, que es la transformación en la Universidad Médica a que estamos convocados actualmente. Se empleó el método de encuesta para el diagnóstico de los problemas que confrontaban los profesores ante los alumnos, elaborando un plan de acción o medidas encaminadas a dar solución a estos problemas. Como resultado fundamental se comprobó que existen dificultades para preparar adecuadamente al profesional a que se aspira, y con este trabajo pueden mejorarse esos aspectos. La formación de recursos humanos de la salud en la provincia a través de la universalización de la enseñanza / Formation of the Human Resources in the Health Branches in Pinar del Rio province trough the Universalization of Learning

El presente trabajo consiste en dar a conocer todo lo relacionado con la estructura organizativa, matrícula de estudiantes, número de profesores, fuentes de ingreso, modelo pedagógico vigente y especificidad de la provincia de Pinar del Río. Se expresa el reto principal, las proyecciones futuras y los retos y las perspectivas de nuestra Universidad Médica con respecto a la Universalización de la Educación Superior. En él se emplean veintiuna (21) referencias. Enfatizamos en que la elevación de los niveles de vida exige perfeccionar la formación académica de cada uno de los miembros de la sociedad. Ello puede lograrse solamente mediante programas de educación de masas. Esta experiencia única en Cuba, cada día constata resultados superiores. Palabras clave: Educación, Salud, Universalización ABSTRACTThis study was aimed at showing all the aspects related to the organization and structure of the universalization of learning, registration, and numbers of professors, sources of access, current pedagogical model and specificities in Pinar del Rio province. The main challenge, future expectations and perspectives of the Medical University related to the Universalization of Learning in Higher Education were also analyzed. Twenty one bibliographic references were considered, emphasizing that the elevation of the levels of life demands to perfect the academic formation of each of the members in the society, being only possible through a popular education. Impact of institutional organization on research productivity and multidisciplinarity

In this article, we will describe a model to examine the influence of differently organized institutions on their scientific productivity. We take two extreme cases, on one hand, an institution divided in departments with no collaboration between people in different departments. These could be disciplines or merely projects. On the other hand, we consider an institution that allows interactions between all individuals, without a departmental structure to a department. We compare the results with data from the Institute of Renewable Energy (IER) at UNAM, which has changed its organization and policies during the last 30 years, and we could quantitatively predict the changes observed in productivity and multidisciplinarity. This model can be applied to a broader set of institutions and processes
