President of the company was Robert Harry Flint, Sr. (1931-2011).     This collection consists of photographs of the Rock Hill area from the early 20th century taken mostly by Marion Carlisle (1859-1940) who operated the Carlisle photography Studio in Rock Hill SC and several taken by his daughter Ora Lee Carlisle (1902-1969). The photographs include several scenes of the 1901 flood, 1903 train wreck, 1916 flood, and the 1926 tornado that struck Rock Hill.     The Downtown Rock Hill Survey Plats consists of two plats laying out Main Street and downtown Rock Hill, SC on November 6 and 7th 1851 and November 26 and 27th 1856. Both surveys were conducted by John “Squire” Roddey, Esq. (1805-1860), Deputy Surveyor. These plats are the earliest known surveys conducted of Rock Hill, SC. These surveys were conducted to determine the layout of the new town as the Columbia and Charlotte Railroad built rail line and depot nearby beginning in 1848. Rock Hill would be founded in 1852 and incorporated in 1892.     This collection consists of a notebook containing a listing of soldiers who served during World War I in Rock Hill, SC and possibly includes other soldiers from the county. The listing was prepared by a local group of women to help supply socks to these soldiers as possibly part of the Red Cross. Members of the group are listed as are dates the socks were sent. The list of soldiers includes their names, where they served, occasionally what branch they served in, and occasionally whether they died in action.     This collection consists of the christening bottle used during the launch of the Victory Ship the S. S. Rock Hill. Also included is a commemorative book containing photographs of the ship, the ship’s construction, and the christening ceremony. The book also contains vital statistics of the ship and information about the Bethlehem-Fairfield Shipyards in Baltimore, Maryland. The S.S. Rock Hill Victory Ship was launched on April 6, 1945 at the Bethlehem-Fairfield Shipyards in Baltimore, Maryland with the daughter of Rock Hill Mayor Erwin Carothers, Ann Carothers, serving as sponsor. The bottle in this collection was used by Ann Carothers to christen the ship the S. S. Rock Hill. The S. S. Rock Hill Victory like most Victory ships was a cargo ship produced during World War II.
