Bounds on topological Abelian string-vortex and string-cigar from information-entropic measure

In this work we obtain bounds on the topological Abelian string-vortex and on the string-cigar, by using a new measure of configurational complexity, known as configurational entropy. In this way, the information-theoretical measure of six-dimensional braneworlds scenarios are capable to probe situations where the parameters responsible for the brane thickness are arbitrary. The so-called configurational entropy (CE) selects the best value of the parameter in the model. This is accomplished by minimizing the CE, namely, by selecting the most appropriate parameters in the model that correspond to the most organized system, based upon the Shannon information theory. This information-theoretical measure of complexity provides a complementary perspective to situations where strictly energy-based arguments are inconclusive. We show that the higher the energy the higher the CE, what shows an important correlation between the energy of the a localized field configuration and its associated entropic measure.Comment: 6 pages, 7 figures, final version to appear in Phys. Monopoles on string-like models and the Coulomb's law

The t'Hooft-Polyakov monopole mass can be substantially altered, in the thick GS and HC brane-world setup, and can be employed to constrain the brane thickness limit. In this work, we comprise a brief review regarding gauge fields localization in the string-like six dimensional brane-world models setup. The correction to the Coulomb's law in two models is studied. Besides, the monopole features are investigated from the point of view of the gauge fields localization in the string-like brane-worlds and its thickness.Comment: 14 pages, 7 figure

Perturbed Self-Similar Massless Scalar Field in the Spacetimes with Circular Symmetry in 2+1 Gravity

We present in this work the study of the linear perturbations of the 2+1-dimensional circularly symmetric solution, obtained in a previous work, with kinematic self-similarity of the second kind. We have obtained an exact solution for the perturbation equations and the possible perturbation modes. We have shown that the background solution is a stable solution.Comment: no figure

Collapsing Perfect Fluid in Higher Dimensional Spherical Spacetimes

    Get PDF
The general metric for N-dimensional spherically symmetric and conformally flat spacetimes is given, and all the homogeneous and isotropic solutions for a perfect fluid with the equation of state p=αρp = \alpha \rho are found. These solutions are then used to model the gravitational collapse of a compact ball. It is found that when the collapse has continuous self-similarity, the formation of black holes always starts with zero mass, and when the collapse has no such a symmetry, the formation of black holes always starts with a mass gap.Comment: Class.
