PostgreSQL technology was used to support the databases. This technology was chosen to be robust, with easy integration with PHP and its code is open source. The website is housed in a Linux server based infrastructure ready to run continuously.(undefined

A system architecture for low bit rate traffic aggregation in control applications

    Get PDF
This paper describes the results of research work aimed at providing an efficient solution to the aggregation of low bit rate traffic in control applications. It includes the proposal and analysis of an architecture that integrates Terminal Adapters and a Concentrator connected to a remote Control Application through a communication network. The ATM technology was selected to implement the proposed system due to its properties of multiplexing efficiency and control of packet delay. Scheduling Algorithms for the Terminal Adapter and Concentrator have been developed in order to satisfy two main goals: to guarantee committed delays for time sensitive services, and to increase the network transmission efficiency. The results, obtained by simulation, show that the system performance complies with the requirements of the majority of control applications.Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)

In this paper we analyse and evaluate several Scheduling Algorithms that are candidates to support Quality of Service and Service Integration in Sensor and Actuator Networks. They should satisfy two main goals: to guarantee committed delays for time sensitive services, and to improve the network transmission efficiency. The algorithms are described and some results, obtained by simulation, are presented. The proposed Traffic Class Oriented Algorithm proved to be a good solution to meet the proposed objectives as well as to integrate traffic generated by Fieldbus devices and control applications in real communication networks.IEE

Effect of soliton interaction on timing jitter in communication systems

    Get PDF
Timing jitter in soliton communication systems is studied, taking into account both soliton interaction and amplifier noise, Deviations from Gordon-Haus jitter for closely spaced solitons are observed. A new analytical model for the timing jitter is proposed, The model presented considers interaction in a random sequence of solitons and the effect of the amplified spontaneous emission noise added in each amplification stage, We obtain a good agreement between the new analytical model and simulation results for practical communication systems

    Get PDF
This paper investigates the validity of the Fisher effect hypothesis that it is the interest rate which moves to adjust to the anticipated changes in the rate of inflation. The analysis is carried out with monthly data for the period 1980-97 for three countries with recent histories of chronic high inflation: Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico. A co-integration analysis has provided evidence of a stable long-run equilibrium relationship between nominal interest rates and the inflation rate for the cases of Argentina and Brazil only.inflation, interest rate, monetary policy

Investigating the binding heterogeneity of trace metal cations with SiO2 nanoparticles using full wave analysis of stripping chronopotentiometry at scanned deposition potential

Silica oxides nano- and microparticles, as well as silica-based materials, are very abundant in nature and industrial processes. Trace metal cation binding with these bulk materials is generally not considered significant in speciation studies in environmental systems. Nonetheless, this might change for nanoparticulate systems as observed in a previous study of Pb(II) with a very small SiO2 particle (7.5 nm diameter). Besides, metal binding by those nanoparticles is surprisingly characterized by a heterogeneity that increases with the decrease of metal-to-particle ratio. Therefore, it is interesting to extend this study to investigate different trace metals and the influence of the nanoparticle size on the cation binding heterogeneity. Consequently, the Cd(II), Pb(II), and Zn(II) binding by two different sized SiO2 nanoparticles (Ludox LS30 and TM40) in aqueous dispersion was studied for a range of pH and ionic strength conditions, using the combination of the electroanalytical techniques Scanned Stripping ChronoPotentiometry and Absence of Gradients and Nernstian Equilibrium Stripping. The coupling of these techniques provides the free metal concentration in the bulk (AGNES) and information of the free and complex concentration at the electrode surface for each Stripping Chronopotentiometry at Scanned deposition Potential (SSCP). A recent mathematical treatment allows the reconstruction of a portion of the metal to ligand binding isotherm with the included heterogeneity information using the full SSCP wave analysis. In this work, we observed that the Zn(II) binding is homogeneous, Cd(II) is slightly heterogeneous, and Pb(II) is moderately heterogeneous, whereas the results obtained with the 7.5 nm diameter nanoparticle are slightly more heterogeneous than those obtained with the one of 17 nm. These findings suggest that the Zn(II) binding is electrostatic in nature, and for both Cd(II) and Pb(II), there should be a significant chemical binding contribution.FCT-ANR/AAG-MAA/0065/2012info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
