Insuficiencia renal crónica en pacientes con diabetes mellitas de tipo 2 en un área de salud Chronic renal failure in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in a health area

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y transversal de 60 pacientes de 15 años y más, con diabetes mellitus de tipo 2, diagnosticados como tales hasta el 31 de diciembre del 2005 en el Policlínico “30 de Noviembre” de Santiago de Cuba y que asistían al Centro de Atención al Diabético en el momento de la investigación. En la casuística primaron los integrantes del sexo femenino, mayores de 45 años, con hipertensión arterial y antecedente patológico familiar de diabetes mellitus. Los adultos con peso normal y proteinuria, tanto hombres como mujeres, eran más numerosos. Hubo un marcado predominio del estadio I en pacientes con insuficiencia renal crónica.A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in 60 patients of 15 years and over with type 2 diabetes mellitus, who were diagnosed with this condition up to December 31st, 2005 in "30 de Noviembre" Polyclinic of Santiago de Cuba, and attending the Diabetic Care Center during this investigation. The females over the age of 45 with hypertension and medical family history of diabetes mellitus prevailed. Adults with normal weight and proteinuria, both females and males, were more numerous. There was a marked prevalence of the stage I in patients with chronic renal failure

Prevalencia de hipertensión arterial en adolescentes de 15 a 17 años Prevalence of hypertension in adolescents aged between 15 and 17 years

Se hizo un estudio descriptivo y transversal para estimar la prevalencia de hipertensión arterial en 1 645 adolescentes de 15 a 17 años de edad, que cursaban estudios en el Preuniversitario “Cuqui Bosch” del área de salud “30 de Noviembre” de Santiago de Cuba durante el curso escolar 2004 - 2005. Se encontró que la tasa de prevalencia de hipertensión arterial se elevó con la edad, así como también que la afección predominaba en los varones, en los educandos con evaluación nutricional de sobrepeso y obeso, en los alumnos con hábito de fumar y en los estudiantes con antecedentes patológicos familiares de madre y padre hipertensos.<br>A descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted to estimate the hypertension prevalence in 1 645 adolescents aged between 15 and 17 years, who were studying in the "Cuqui Bosch" high school, belonging to the "30 de Noviembre" health area of Santiago de Cuba during 2004 - 2005. It was found that the rate of hypertension prevalence was increased with the age, as well as that this condition prevailed in males, in students with nutritional evaluation of overweight and obese, and those with smoking habit and medical family history of hypertensive parents
