Color poster with text and tables describing research conducted by Pakou Vang, Alyssa Retzlaff, and Kristen Diermeier, advised by Marie Stadler.Oral stories were collected from adults with culturally diverse backgrounds (American Indian and Hmong). These stories were audio-taped, transcribed and analyzed for length, cohesion, sequencing, story grammar elements, and linguistic commplexity. The stories were then compared to normative data for stories told by individuals from European descent. Several stories will then be chosen and adapted to include elements that are considered important for literacy.University of Wisconsin--Eau Claire Office of Research and Sponsored programs
