Orbital Selective Magnetism in the Spin-Ladder Iron Selenides BaKFeSe
Here we show that the 2.80(8) {\mu}B/Fe block antiferromagnetic order of
BaFe2Se3 transforms into stripe antiferromagnetic order in KFe2Se3 with a
decrease in moment to 2.1(1) {\mu}B/Fe. This reduction is larger than expected
from the change in electron count from Ba to K, and occurs with
the loss of the displacements of Fe atoms from ideal positions in the ladders,
as found by neutron pair distribution function analysis. Intermediate
compositions remain insulating, and magnetic susceptibility measurements show a
suppression of magnetic order and probable formation of a spin-glass. Together,
these results imply an orbital-dependent selection of magnetic versus bonded
behavior, driven by relative bandwidths and fillings.Comment: Final versio
Black string and velocity frame dragging
We investigate velocity frame dragging with the boosted Schwarzschild black
string solution and the boosted Kaluza-Klein bubble solution, in which a
translational symmetry along the boosted -coordinate is implemented. The
velocity frame dragging effect can be nullified by the motion of an observer
using the boost symmetry along the coordinate if it is not compact.
However, in spacetime with the compact coordinate, we show that the effect
cannot be removed since the compactification breaks the global Lorentz boost
symmetry. As a result, the comoving velocity is dependent on and the
momentum parameter along the coordinate becomes an observer independent
characteristic quantity of the black string and bubble solutions. The dragging

Active gravitational mass and the invariant characterization of Reissner-Nordstrom spacetime
We analyse the concept of active gravitational mass for Reissner-Nordstrom
spacetime in terms of scalar polynomial invariants and the Karlhede
classification. We show that while the Kretschmann scalar does not produce the
expected expression for the active gravitational mass, both scalar polynomial

In-situ Analysis of Laminated Composite Materials by X-ray Micro-Computed Tomography and Digital Volume Correlation
The complex mechanical behaviour of composite materials, due to internal heterogeneity and multi-layered composition impose deeper studies. This paper presents an experimental investigation technique to perform volume kinematic measurements in composite materials. The association of X-ray micro-computed tomography acquisitions and Digital Volume Correlation (DVC) technique allows the measurement of displacements and deformations in the whole volume of composite specimen. To elaborate the latter, composite fibres and epoxy resin are associated with metallic particles to create contrast during X-ray acquisition.
A specific in situ loading device is presented for three-point bending tests, which enables the visualization of transverse shear effects in composite structures
On the Resolution of the Time-Like Singularities in Reissner-Nordstrom and Negative-Mass Schwarzschild
Certain time-like singularities are shown to be resolved already in classical
General Relativity once one passes from particle probes to scalar waves. The
time evolution can be defined uniquely and some general conditions for that are
formulated. The Reissner-Nordstrom singularity allows for communication through
the singularity and can be termed "beam splitter" since the transmission
probability of a suitably prepared high energy wave packet is 25%. The high
frequency dependence of the cross section is w^{-4/3}. However, smooth
geometries arbitrarily close to the singular one require a finite amount of
negative energy matter. The negative-mass Schwarzschild has a qualitatively
different resolution interpreted to be fully reflecting. These 4d results are

Itinerant electron metamagnetism in LaCoSi
The strongly exchange enhanced Pauli paramagnet LaCoSi is found to
exhibit an itinerant metamagnetic phase transition with indications for
metamagnetic quantum criticality. Our investigation comprises magnetic,
specific heat, and NMR measurements as well as ab-initio electronic structure
calculations. The critical field is about 3.5 T for and 6 T for , which is the lowest value ever found for rare earth intermetallic
compounds. In the ferromagnetic state there appears a moment of about 0.2
/Co at the Co-sites, but sigificantly smaller moments at the 4d

Higher dimensional flat embeddings of (2+1) dimensional black holes
We obtain the higher dimensional global flat embeddings of static, rotating,
and charged BTZ black holes. On the other hand, we also study the similar
higher dimensional flat embeddings of the (2+1) de Sitter black holes which are
the counterparts of the anti-de Sitter BTZ black holes. As a result, the
charged dS black hole is shown to be embedded in (3+2) GEMS, contrast to the

Attractor Flows in st^2 Black Holes
Following the same treatment of Bellucci et.al., we obtain the hitherto
unknown general solutions of the radial attractor flow equations for extremal
black holes, both for non-BPS with non-vanishing and vanishing central charge Z
for the so-called st^2 model, the minimal rank-2 N=2 symmetric supergravity in
d=4 space-time dimensions.
We also make useful comparisons with results that already exist in
literature,and introduce the fake supergravity (first-order) formalism to be
used in our analysis. An analysis of the BPS bound all along the non-BPS
attractor flows and of the marginal stability of corresponding D-brane charge

Higher dimensional flat embeddings of black strings in (2+1) dimensions
We obtain (3+1) and (3+2) dimensional global flat embeddings of (2+1)
uncharged and charged black strings, respectively. In particular, the charged
black string, which is the dual solution of the Banados-Teitelboim-Zanelli
black holes, is shown to be embedded in the same global embedding Minkowski

Glutamate transporter GLT-1 mediates N-acetylcysteine inhibition of cocaine reinstatement
Both pre-clinical and clinical studies indicate that N-acetylcysteine (NAC) may be useful in treating relapse to addictive drug use. Cocaine self-administration in rats reduces both cystine-glutamate exchange and glutamate transport via GLT-1 in the nucleus accumbens, and NAC treatment normalizes these two glial processes critical for maintaining glutamate homeostasis. However, it is not known if one or both of these actions by NAC is needed to inhibit relapse to cocaine seeking. To determine whether the restoration of GLT-1 and/or cystine-glutamate exchange is required for NAC to inhibit cue-induced reinstatement of cocaine seeking, we utilized the rat self-administration/extinction/reinstatement model of cocaine relapse. Rats were pre-treated in the nucleus accumbens with vivo-morpholino anti-sense oligomers targeting either GLT-1 or xCT (catalytic subunit of the cystine-glutamate exchanger) overlapping with daily NAC administration during extinction (100 mg/kg, i.p. for the last 5 days). Rats then underwent cue-induced reinstatement of active lever pressing in the absence of NAC, to determine if preventing NAC-induced restoration of one or the other protein was sufficient to block the capacity of chronic NAC to inhibit reinstatement. The vivo-morpholino suppression of xCT reduced cystine-glutamate exchange but did not affect NAC-induced reduction of reinstated cocaine seeking. In contrast, suppressing NAC-induced restoration of GLT-1 not only prevented NAC from inhibiting reinstatement, but augmented the capacity of cues to reinstate cocaine seeking. We hypothesized that the increased reinstatement after inhibiting NAC induction of GLT-1 resulted from increased extracellular glutamate, and show that augmented reinstatement is prevented by blocking mGluR5. Restoring GLT-1, not cystine-glutamate exchange, is a key mechanism whereby daily NAC reduces cue-induced cocaine reinstatement
