We present the results for the associated production of Higgs boson with vector boson computed at threshold N3^3LO in QCD. We use the recently available result on the threshold contributions to the inclusive Drell-Yan production cross-section at third order in strong coupling constant. We have implemented it in the publicly available computer package vh@nnlo, thereby obtaining the numerical impact of threshold N3^3LO contributions for the first time. We find that the inclusion of such corrections do reduce theoretical uncertainties resulting from the renormalization scale.Comment: 14 pages, 3 figure

Objective: The present study was aimed to isolate endophytic fungi from ethano-medicinally important plant Crescentia cujete L. in view to screen their bioactive principles towards different pharmacological applications. Methods: A total of four morphologically distinct endophytic fungi were isolated and identified via analyzing their ITS region of 5.8s rRNA and sequences were submitted in Genbank. The recovered four isolates were further cultivated in Czapek-Dox broth, from this extra cellular bioactive metabolites has been extracted using ethyl acetate for their different biological activities. DPPH assay was performed to measure the free-radical scavenging activity of extracts and antibacterial property was assessed through disc diffusion method. On the other hand, the cytotoxic potential of fungal extracts against hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines (HepG2) was studied by MTT assay, AO-EB and Hoechest staining methods under in vitro condition. Most importantly, the active compounds present in the solvent extracts were identified through GC-MS analysis. Results: The fungal extracts showed a strong growth inhibitory effect against bacterial human pathogens and excellent free radical scavenging activity. It also exhibits excellent antiproliferative effect against hepatocellular carcinoma cells, further it was observed that the cell death was primarily mediated by apoptosis. The active compounds present in the extracts were identified through GC-MS analysis, which depicts the presence of aspirin and diethyl phthalate as the major constituents. Conclusion: Overall, this study strongly suggests that extracts of isolated endophytic fungi from C. cujete L. can be developed as a lead/drug molecule in view of pharmaceutical context.Â

Differential Cross Sections for Higgs Boson Production at Tevatron Collider Energies

The transverse momentum QTQ_T distribution is computed for inclusive Higgs boson production at S=1.96\sqrt{S} = 1.96 TeV. We include all-orders resummation of large logarithms associated with emission of soft gluons at small QTQ_T. We provide results for Higgs boson and Z∗Z^* masses from MZM_Z to 200 GeV. The relatively hard transverse momentum distribution for Higgs boson production suggests possibilities for improvement of the signal to background ratio.Comment: 12 pages, latex, 7 figure

Effect of light intensity on leaf scorching in nursery seedlings of cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum Maton)

Studies on leaf scorching in nursery seedlings of cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) grown at Thadiyankudisai (Tamil Nadu, India) indicated that total biomass, chlorophyll and protein contents, and photochemical activities were adversely affected in leaf scorched seedlings grown under full light (100% of total sunlight), when compared to healthy seedlings grown under medium light (45-55% of total sunlight). &nbsp

Utilization of Halophytes as a source of organic Manure

ABSTRACT Organic farming is a holistic production management system that promotes and enhances environmental quality including biodiversity, bio-geo-chemical cycles and soil floral and faunal activities. One of the energy resources developed during recent years are the application of organic sources such as biogas slurry, blue green algae, compost, green manure farmyard manure, vermicompost and seaweed liquid fertilizer. During decomposition, these organic manures yield many organic compounds and organic acids as well as antibiotic substances as an intermediate product. Mangrove/Halophytes forest has an important ecological and socio economic value to man. In India, Tamil Nadu has a coastline of 950 km. Extensive mangrove wetlands are located in Pichavaram of Cuddalore district and Muthupet of Thanjavur district. It is reported that the nutrient values of halophytes were higher when compared to green manures (glycophytes). The objective of the present study is to highlight the efficacy of halophytic compost which are normally available in coastal areas on growth and yield parameters in pulse varieties. Various combinations of halophytic composts used, Suaeda compost + farmyard manure + phosphate solubilising bacteria treatment showed an increased in biomass and yield, number of root nodules and microbial activities when compared other halophytic compost and control. This study shows the feasibility of using halophytic composts in the coastal area to improve soil fertility and productivity
