Group Behavior Recognition in Context-Aware Systems
Proceedings of: 11th International Work-Conference on Artificial Neural Networks (IWANN 2011). International Workshop of Intelligent systems for context-based information fusion (ISCIF 11). Torremolinos-MĂĄlaga, Spain, June 8-10, 2011In most of the domains of the context-aware system the user make up a group and their behavior could be research with group behavior recognition techniques. Our approach try to take advantage of the context information to understand the user's behaviors like a group, and this information could be useful for other system to beat to the users. For this purpose it is exposed a new representation that concentrates all necessary information concerning relations two to two present in the group, and the semantics of the different groups formed by individuals and training (or structure) of each one of them. This work was supported in part by Projects CICYT TIN2008-06742-C02-02/TSI, CICYT TEC2008-06732-C02-02/TEC, CAM CONTEXTS

Improved effective mobility extraction in MOSFETs
The standard method of extracting carrier effective mobility from electrical measurements on MOSFETs is reviewed and the assumptions implicit in this method are discussed. A novel technique is suggested that corrects for the difference in drain bias during IV and CV measurements. It is further shown that the lateral field and diffusion corrections, which are both commonly neglected, in fact cancel. The effectiveness of the proposed technique is demonstrated by application to data measured on a quasi-planar SOI finFET at 300 K and 4 K
Topology of a percolating soil pore network.
A connectivity function defined by the 3D-Euler number, is a topological indicator and can be related to hydraulic properties (Vogel and Roth, 2001). This study aims to develop connectivity Euler indexes as indicators of the ability of soils for fluid percolation. The starting point was a 3D grey image acquired by X-ray computed tomography of a soil at bulk density of 1.2 mg cm-3. This image was used in the simulation of 40000 particles following a directed random walk algorithms with 7 binarization thresholds. These data consisted of 7 files containing the simulated end points of the 40000 random walks, obtained in Ruiz-Ramos et al. (2010). MATLAB software was used for computing the frequency matrix of the number of particles arriving at every end point of the random walks and their 3D representation
An approximation algorithm for the solution of the nonlinear Lane-Emden type equations arising in astrophysics using Hermite functions collocation method
In this paper we propose a collocation method for solving some well-known
classes of Lane-Emden type equations which are nonlinear ordinary differential
equations on the semi-infinite domain. They are categorized as singular initial
value problems. The proposed approach is based on a Hermite function
collocation (HFC) method. To illustrate the reliability of the method, some
special cases of the equations are solved as test examples. The new method
reduces the solution of a problem to the solution of a system of algebraic
equations. Hermite functions have prefect properties that make them useful to
achieve this goal. We compare the present work with some well-known results and
show that the new method is efficient and applicable.Comment: 34 pages, 13 figures, Published in "Computer Physics Communications

Chaotic scalar fields as models for dark energy
We consider stochastically quantized self-interacting scalar fields as
suitable models to generate dark energy in the universe. Second quantization
effects lead to new and unexpected phenomena is the self interaction strength
is strong. The stochastically quantized dynamics can degenerate to a chaotic
dynamics conjugated to a Bernoulli shift in fictitious time, and the right
amount of vacuum energy density can be generated without fine tuning. It is
numerically observed that the scalar field dynamics distinguishes fundamental
parameters such as the electroweak and strong coupling constants as
corresponding to local minima in the dark energy landscape. Chaotic fields can
offer possible solutions to the cosmological coincidence problem, as well as to
the problem of uniqueness of vacua.Comment: 30 pages, 3 figures. Replaced by final version accepted by Phys. Rev.
Shear-banding in a lyotropic lamellar phase, Part 1: Time-averaged velocity profiles
Using velocity profile measurements based on dynamic light scattering and
coupled to structural and rheological measurements in a Couette cell, we
present evidences for a shear-banding scenario in the shear flow of the onion
texture of a lyotropic lamellar phase. Time-averaged measurements clearly show
the presence of structural shear-banding in the vicinity of a shear-induced
transition, associated to the nucleation and growth of a highly sheared band in
the flow. Our experiments also reveal the presence of slip at the walls of the
Couette cell. Using a simple mechanical approach, we demonstrate that our data
confirms the classical assumption of the shear-banding picture, in which the
interface between bands lies at a given stress . We also outline
the presence of large temporal fluctuations of the flow field, which are the
subject of the second part of this paper [Salmon {\it et al.}, submitted to
