Semi-dwarf narrow rolled leaf mutant in rice: Photosynthetic efficiency and physiological response to gibberellic acid (GA3)
Leaf is the major component for fixation of carbondioxide to produce more photoassimilates and maintains source sink relationship in plants. The present investigation was carried out to study the photosynthetic efficiency and physiological response of GA3 of semi-dwraf narrow rolled leaf mutant. Semi-dwarf narrow rolled leaf mutant exhibited reduced plant height, reduced leaf width, reduced panicle length and number of grains per panicle when compared to wild type. Photosynthetic efficiency study revealed that the mutant showed higher photosynthetic efficiency than wild type. Complementation test with GA3 clearly revealed that this mutant is sensitive to GA3 and revert to normal plant height. Scanning Electron Microscope study revealed that mutant had exhibited minimum number of inter-veins between veins, minimum distance between midrib and has slightly larger cell size. Hence, this loss of function mutant is very useful to map the regions associated with panicle length, number of grains per panicle and other traits related to enhancement of yield. The result provides an important clue for further understanding the mechanism of rice leaf development and plant architecture
AN UPDATE ON THE SYNTHESIS OF BENZOXAZOLES
Benzoxazoles being structurally similar to bases adenine and guanine interact with biomolecules present in living systems. These compounds possess antimicrobial, central nervous system activities, antihyperglycemic potentiating activity, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory activity. It can also be used as starting material for other bioactive molecules. Modifications in structure and the biological profiles of new generations of benzoxazoles were found to be more potent with enhanced biological activity. Considering all these, we have prepared this review and discussed the synthesis and biological activities of benzoxazoles
Quantum Mechanics of Extended Objects
We propose a quantum mechanics of extended objects that accounts for the
finite extent of a particle defined via its Compton wavelength. The Hilbert
space representation theory of such a quantum mechanics is presented and this
representation is used to demonstrate the quantization of spacetime. The
quantum mechanics of extended objects is then applied to two paradigm examples,
namely, the fuzzy (extended object) harmonic oscillator and the Yukawa
potential. In the second example, we theoretically predict the phenomenological
coupling constant of the meson, which mediates the short range and

Ethics and Social Justice for AI in Data Science
The advances of AI raise several critical questions about human values and ethics, highlighting the need for researchers and developers to consider the ethical implications and the risks of neglecting them. In the past few years, student researchers have developed an AI model that allows users to test their surveys for possible breaches of subject confidentiality. This allows the users to gauge the ethicality of their proposal. This summer, we have expanded on this research and launched an interactive model for students and researches to assess their current work for ethical and social justice implications. Using Langchain and Figma, we have created an interactive chatbot which allows users to receive feedback on their project regarding the ethical and social considerations of their work
Jumps in oil prices: the role of economic news

We reexamine this relationship using high frequency intraday data and relatively new methodology to estimate jumps in oil prices. We find a surprisingly strong correspondence between high frequency jumps in oil prices and the arrival of new economic information, with the largest jumps tending to be preceded identifiable economic news. These results indicate that oil prices respond very rapidly to new economic data in ways that appear consistent with economic theory, and also suggest that economic news, rather than speculation unrelated to the economic environment, drives jumps in oil prices
Is the price of crude responsive to macroeconomic news? A test of the stock-flow hypothesis

The study concludes that the price of crude oil is predetermined to macro aggregates, and hence determined in a flow demand and flow supply framework. We make the economic argument that inferences on commodity price determination should be drawn from news responses only after the standard tests are subject to inventory (or stock) controls. Using both daily and intraday data for crude oil, and using rudimentary tools to isolate perceived inventory levels, we test for the stock-flow hypothesis for crude oil. We find only weak evidence on the role of inventory levels for crude oil. We also assess the extent to which the dynamics of the dollar plays in the results, and find its role to be limited. Overall, the prior conclusion that crude oil is priced primarily in a flow-environment is supported by our data. The initial (intraday) response in energy prices to macro news appears to be the result of noise trading
