Même dans le domaine de la typologie il est nécessaire de s'interroger sur le type de suppositions et sur le status des operations que l'on conduit pour en comprendre 1a valeur epistemologique, pour – en employant les mots de Ferdinand de Saussure – "montrer au linguistique ce qu'il fait". Car il est hors de doute que – pour le dire encore avec le maître genevois – dans une discipline qui s'occupe d'un phénomène humain si comp1exe et historiquement variable tel que le langage, "c'est le point de vue qui crée l'objet". L'objet d'une analyse n'est pas une chose qui 'va de soi'; il suffit de penser aux changements au cours du developpement de la linguistique du concept même de 'langue', tout comme celui de 'matière' en physique, au fur et à mesure que les connaissances ont avancé. Or, il y a dans les théories linguistiques les plus recentes et aussi à la page des suppositions qui sont suggérées, voire conditionnées, par le cadre theorique choisi, mais dont la réalité empirique reste à vérifier ou, ce qui revient au même, a falsifier

The Double Bottom Line: Achieving impact, achieving profit by Ramat T. Mohammed

Non-governmental organizations pursue work that is at the intersection of humanitarianism, collective effort, advocacy, and purpose. These organizations expose discrepancies and facilitate solutions. The research problem in this work centers on the operations of non-governmental organizations in Italy and Vietnam. This project explores the junction where altruism and impact meet business and profit. As such, I ask essentially explore an NGO’s approach to sustaining the convergence of growing a business and increasing social change and impact in Italy Vietnam. Prior to this research, I led with the hypothesis that the capitalist-driven global community in which we live has altered the priority of non-governmental organizations, therefore putting more emphasis on profits rather than people. However, utilizing exploratory methods on the overview/reports of my selected NGOs, and observational methods through asset mapping has revealed the certain balance of impact and profit that may exist in modern NGOs

Indigenous ways—fruits of our ancestors

In this paper the human-nature relationship is recognized as a major field of interest and a platform of ideas linked with it is explored. A ‘new’ source to inform an alternative paradigm for outdoor education is proposed; it is millennia old, has roots all over the globe and is a living, breathing, and evolving tradition—indigenous ways. While recognizing the diversity of indigenous people, the paper explores common characteristics of thought and practice within indigenous traditions. Indigenous ways are defined and their connection with outdoor education is explored. The author concludes that indigenous ways have the potential to inspire a fundamental change in outdoor education, while providing working models for theory and practice

Asphalt Mix Design and performance

Premature flexible pavement distress became a major concern in Indiana. As a result, a study was conducted investigating the major underlying factors. Pavement sections were investigated based on a factorial study with four factors comprised of climate, truck traffic, pavement base type, and wheel path. The distresses evaluated were rutting, thermal cracking and stripping. All were evaluated against control sections with zero distress. The pavement condition of each section was determined. Laboratory tests of field sample included physical properties, dynamic creep and recompaction. Results of the study indicate that the Asphalt Institute mix design criteria identify an asphalt content that is too high. In place densities were found to be inadequate and a recommendation was made to use higher field compactive effort. The USAE Gyratory Testing Machine (GTM) was used in laboratory studies to recompact density and air voids. Testing confirm that the in situ asphalt content was too high. Gap graded gradations were found to be prone to rutting. Benefit is shown in using dynamic modulus to evaluate mixtures. A statistical analysis method, discriminate analysis, was used to accurately predict mixture field performance using laboratory data

Exploring the Neglect of Accounting Theory in Current Academic Research in Nigeria

It has become a general perception that studies in Accounting Theory, though an essential part of accounting research is gradually becoming extinct. While globally, there is a dearth of studies and researches on accounting theory, in Nigeria, such studies are literally almost nonexistent. Hence, the motivation for this study to explore the neglect of accounting theory in current academic research in Nigeria. To achieve the objectives of this study, the researchers employed case study method of research, adopting the Department of Accounting, in one of the private Universities in Nigeria as a study area. Analyzing the result of the survey, critical findings revealed among others, that factors such as Methodology, Social, Resources, Technology and Regulatory issues are the causes of neglect of accounting theory in Nigeria’s Academic Area. It is recommended among others that there should be development of electronic databases of accounting researches to ease the data gathering difficulties, as well as making research and seminars in accounting theory compulsory for accounting students to stimulate interest in accounting theory in other to develop capacity and avoid extinction

Kontrol diri dan kecenderungan kecanduan internet

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kontrol diri dengan kecenderungan kecanduan internet. Subjek penelitian adalah 70 mahasiswa jurusan Teknik Elektro UGM semester III ke atas yang berusia antara 18 sampai dengan 24 tahun dan berjenis kelamin laki-laki. Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Skala Kecenderungan Kecanduan Internet dan Skala Kontrol Diri. Analisis Data dilakukan dengan teknik korelasi product moment. Hasil uji korelasional antara skor kecenderungan kecanduan internet dengan skor kontrol diri menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan koefisien korelasi sebesar -0.2030; p kurang dari 0.05 antara kontrol diri dengan kecenderungan kecanduan internet. Kontrol diri memberikan sumbangan efektif sebesar 4.12% terhadap kecenderungan kecanduan internet
