Inaugural address
I AM exceedingly happy to be present at today 's S\mposium
on -Recent de\,elopments in non-ferrous metals' technology'
I would like to take the opportunity to extend a hearty
welcome to the distinguished delegates from abroad and
from India who have travelled far and wide to be with us
and take part in this important symposium . I first visited
Jamshedpur in 1938 and that too, to take part in a Sympos-ium organised by the Indian Ceramic Society. I have been
here quite a number of times. Each time I come I remember with reverence Jamshedji Tata, the treat founder of this famous steel city

Education Acts and Regulations for School Education of Nepal: An Analysis from Governance Perspective
This essay was prepared to critically analyze the existing laws related to school education from the perspective of educational governance. The essay reflects that the education acts and regulations are responsive to reflect educational governance but that is not reflected as per the educational structure although they were amended after the federal structure. On the other hand, it is being very delay to bring the new Education Act and Regulations responding to the Constitution of Nepal because Nepal is practicing federal structure from last six years. Therefore, the article revealed the need for a new education law as mandated by the constitution and the federal system promoting educational governance
Power loss minimization and voltage profile improvement of radial and mesh distribution network using sine cosine optimization based DG allocation
Due to the increasing population and emerging technologies, energy requirements are increasing progressively. Distributed generation (DG) is an excellent option to handle the increased power demand. A well optimized DG can help to reduce power losses, CO2 emission and improve voltage profiles. This paper uses sine cosine algorithm to find the optimal location and best size ofDG with power loss minimization as its objective function. It presents the comparison of power loss reduction and voltage profile enhancement due to allocation of DGoperating at 0.85, 0.95 power factor lag andthe optimal power factor that has been obtained by sine cosineoptimization. IEEE 15, 69 bus radial and 33, 69 bus weakly meshed systems with five tie lines are used for power loss analysis. Annual energy saving due to allocating DG with different power factors have been analyzed. All the results are simulated in MATLAB 2021a
Impact of DG and D-STATCOM Placement on Improving the Reactive Loading Capability of Mesh Distribution System
AbstractIn this paper, Distribution Generation (DG) and Distribution STATic COMpensator (D-STATCOM) are optimally placed in mesh distribution systems using sensitivity approaches. The objective of this paper is to improve the reactive loading capability of the network with maintaining voltage profile in an acceptable limit. Optimal locations of DG and D-STATCOM are determined using Voltage Stability Index and Combined Power Loss Sensitivity approaches respectively. The size of DG and D-STATCOM are determined by variational algorithm subjected to minimization of total power loss. In order to quantitatively analyze the impact of DG and D-STATCOM on voltage stability margin, Q-V curves are drawn using continuation power flow method. In this study the impact of simultaneous placement of DG and D-STATCOM is investigated separately for large industrial motor load as well as industrial load. Also, load growth scenario is considered for better planning of the system. The results are obtained on standard IEEE-33 and 69-bus mesh distribution systems to check the feasibility of proposed methodology
COVID-19 encephalopathy, presenting with Broca’s aphasia mimicking stroke
Neurological manifestations are emerging as relatively frequent complications of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), including stroke and encephalopathy. Here we reporting a case of a young male presented with acute aphasia at the emergency department. The patient has a positive history of upper respiratory tract symptoms, subjective fever, and myalgias, a week before for which he was tested positive for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) based on reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (PCR) on a nasopharyngeal swab. An electroencephalogram (EEG) demonstrated interictal epileptiform abnormalities over the left posterior frontal lobe. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) axial T2- weighted image shows focal area of altered intensity appearing hyperintense involving the left frontotemporal lobes pre-dominantly the pre-central gyrus. A subtle restriction on diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), with a minimal drop on apparent diffusion coefficient images. In contrast, it shows gyriform enhancement with suspicious adjacent meningeal thickening and enhancement. Cerebrospinal fluid was negative for antibody. Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) 400 mg/kg was given for 5 days. The patient responded well to the therapy without any major clinical side effects and revealed complete resolution after 2 months.
Performance Study & Evaluation of Electrical Parameter of Dragline in Open Cast Mines
Draglines are the most expensive piece of excavating equipment at the mine site and it’s operated safely, efficiently and economically. In order to achieve high production and productivity of heavy earth moving machine in opencast mines, it is necessary to have high % availability and % utilization of equipment. The study also propounds the importance of appraisal of dragline productivity parameters, such as, swing angle, availability, seating position, cycle time, utilization, etc., in the field scale. In this contest, calculation of operating cost of dragline operation in various methods has been done and compared critically on case study basis. Principally, it will serve as a guide to the method employed in determining the operating cost in various methods Draglines are versatile and provide a low cost mining method. Each dragline that is considered for an AC Electrical upgrade will be fully analyzed to determine the machines maximum potential productivity increases. The assessment will include review of current dragline productivity practices, installed electrical capability and additional mechanical enhancements that could be included, such as increased suspended load, which will allow us to take full advantage of the AC IGBT/AFE system and BI 348 motor with its increased capability and still operate the machine within Bucyrus recommended criteria. The AC IGBT/AFE System has a fully integrated onboard computer package that allows complete access to the drive application software and PLC software and chopper drive use in regenerative braking. It is called access direct which will be discussed
Cefixime induce non convulsive status epileptics: a neurotoxic effect
Nonconvulsive status epileptics comprises a group of syndromes that display a great diversity regarding response to anticonvulsants ranging from virtually self-limiting variants to entirely refractory forms cephalosporins are thought to provoke seizure through inhibitory effects on gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) transmission and GABA receptors. Interference with GABA transmission result in pre-disposition towards excitatory neurotransmission, which can leads to seizures. Antibiotics can alter the serum concentration of anti-epileptic, resulting in seizures and anti-epileptic drugs toxicity
